ITT unusual character deaths you've had or seen. The death need not be final, resurrected characters work fine.
I'll start.
Blue Mage in a homebrew game. Killed by a group of attack lolis dressed in french maid outfits, wielding chainsaws and vulcan-style machine guns. He was revived post-combat, but still.
Being religious, he's making a scene in a church, screaming at God as to how he's offended Him.
>>52643598
In a star wars session, gungan got turned into a pelt that another character wore.
>>52643598
I had a rogue in a 3.5 game a while back.
During the first big fight, he snuck next to the enemies' most likely charge paths and dumped loads of poisoned caltrops in front of them to fuck up their charges.
It worked great until the one guy who spotted him charged him and started tearing him apart and bull rushing him around the map.
Eventually the only enemies who could see him died, but he was down to just six HP.
I immediately had him charge the nearest enemy. I forgot, however, that he was standing in a tile he'd previously caltrop'd.
He took a caltrop hit, botched his save against the poison, and dropped four points of con.
Which dropped his HP by 18, since this was a ninth level game.
Which put him at -12. And dead.
Because of his own caltrops.
>>52643598
My character was given a snapple from someone just trying to be nice, which she drank without thinking because she wasn't thinking straight at the time.
It turned out to be lemon snapple, and she was deathly allergic to citrus.
Last thread hit bump limit and I felt there were some good discussions going on.

Screw that guy Anon, it's just as valid as any other Christian deck.
It's like those haters who don't want Scientology decks to be legal. I would totally run one but I can't afford to get OT VIII which I hear is a must have to run the deck effectively.

Am I the only one finding it hard to get into the Hindi decks? There's way to many legendaries I don't understand how anyone is suppose to use it when there's a limit to how many you can run per turn.
You got sucked up into a magical rift that appeared out of nowhere and pop up into some town on the Swordcoast.
And let's make some stipulation about most /tg/ anons first to have some sensible limits.
You only have a set of your normal clothes and footwear with you.
Most of /tg/ anons have a 9 in all physical stats unless they train in a sport or do manual labor.
Int doesn't get above 11.
Cha is barely passable at 10.
Wis is a 9 as well.
Assuming you have some usefull skill that lets you work at least as manual labor.
How do you survive and what do you do?
>>52630201
Well I do a fair bit of backpacking, rock climbing, and hobby-level blacksmithing, so I'd like to think my Str, Dex, and Con are at least 11. I've broken a leg and splinted it so I can hobble out of the woods, so I figure I'm slightly tough, though I'm not sure how that compares to people who have to fight hobgoblins every year. Add some ranks in medicine, craft(metalworking), climb, swim, survival, and junk like that.
It's been a while, but I've done some historical swordfighting and archery, so maybe whatever the NPC version of a ranger is? That'd be neat.
>>52630201

>Are you ready to discover the truth about the murderer?
Next time I'll have to remember to bump the thread before making a long post, was writing on Chronos Protocol last thread, and by the time I was done, so was the thread.
Anyway: big problem with Chrono Protocol is you want to go qualitative pickings instead of quantitative.
First problem, it means being able to understand your opponent's deck and be able to modify your plan as see fit *fast*.
Then, you still need a proper strategy on top.
We've already debated extensively on the issue of program trashing. Going that way with CP has all the same issues, but can allow you to trash spare programs in grip. Which historically hasn't been much of a risk in competitive (more so out of it). But then with proactive damage, you can force the runner to install any drawn breaker asap well.
Which brings the second possible strat: going after econ. Trouble with this one is that the runner is unlikely to keep cards - especially events - in grip against you. Stupid as it may sound, I'm wondering about Scarcity and Student Loans (god, why is it 2 inf?). Slowly drain the runner out of econ. Loan put already played events out of reach, and if runner wants to trash the Student Loans before playing them, well there's an opened trash window for it via House of Knives/Hostile Infrastructure.
But then given the number of econ cards, you suddenly need so much ID firing support, it starts being little different from a 1000 cuts build...
I don't know.... doesn't look like a competitive deck in the making, but as someone that has been experimenting with that type of things for a while, I do think it could be interesting.
Also things like Hailstorm, Ark Lockdown, Chronos Project for removal, and stack trashing (the upcoming Breached Dome if only) as support.
Liking that recent W/J convergence.
How would one realistically pull off things like appeasement and realpolitik in a medieval fantasy setting?
If you're a standard middle-Europe-expy kingdom, what would realistically cause you to parlay with the dark wizards next door? How would you feasibly gain passage through their lands without sneaking? How would a Dark Lord manage to appear genial in politics when he runs a country filled with stuff like undead minions?
Any help would be great, I've been trying to pull this off successfully but haven't done it yet. Didn't Warhammer have something like this with Sylvania and the Empire?
>>52672492
>what would realistically cause you to parlay with the dark wizards next door?
Do your setting have ressurection? If yes, that might just be the guy who knows how to kill a person and destroy/lock the soul so nothing comes back.
>How would you feasibly gain passage through their lands without sneaking?
Promise some 10.000 slaves from your campaign. Vampires and necromancers will enjoy that, as will everyone else.
>How would a Dark Lord manage to appear genial in politics when he runs a country filled with stuff like undead minions?
Not attacking neighbors goes a long way. It could try renting its minions as a perpetual engine machine for mills, cranes etc. If the visuals are a problem, simply use heavy clothes or even keep them inside a box with a clockwork outlet.
In the end, people may not like the country, the dark lord, undead, but they will make good business and the taboos might go away in a generation or three.
>>52672492
>>52672767
>If you're a standard middle-Europe-expy kingdom, what would realistically cause you to parlay with the dark wizards next door?
I forgot to add that cursed contracts might make dark magics important. If one breaks the clausules, he/she suffers pain, hunger etc. So your lawyers become versed in the dark arts as to customize each curse to its contract.

What do you think of the Bestiary 6's new rougarou? Do they make good awooooos compared to witchwolf skinwalkers (+2 to all saving throws), agathion/archon aasimar, and Bloodforge 1's wulfkin?
Rougarou have +2 Str, +2 Wis, -2 Int, scent, low-light vision, and polymorph into a wolf 1/day. Seems a little bland and weak to me.

Players did something completely unexpected.
Have you ever asked for a timeout to adjust to the situation?
Did you just tell the players to give you some time to think?
How long does normaly take you to adjust?
Do you ever ask the players for input on their expected outcome?
>>52668645
Sure, why not? Just tell your players you need a moment to think, it's kinda expected to happen every now and then. It's good to ask for players for input, but be warned that some of them dislike it because "it ruins the surprise".
What did they do?
>>52668645
I've had to call a break to go piss and think. Had a plan by the time I zipped up. Not quite sure how long that was because I don't time my pissing.

Other than being able to allegedly release pheromones to make everyone subject themselves to them, what else can an Ethereal has been canonically proven to do? Latent psychic ability? Magic? Charisma that cannot be matched? An innovative and scientific mind?
They must have something else beside perfumes and acting all important. Something that allows them to establish and reach the top of the hierachy among Tau society early on and survive.
>>52666764
They are decent blademasters with Aun'shi being the very best.
They train in physiology and boosting their charisma to augment their control over the Tau.
They balance the best of what the other four castes have, plus have an innate skill at leadership and organisation that lets them govern and rule effectively.
>>52666801
Huh. Didn't know about them being blademasters.
Then again, an Ethereal-caste fighting directly with their blade in battle must be an exceptionally rare case, considering how freaking important they are to the point where even the death of one is considered a very grave loss.
