I just got banned from Therapy site for calling the RPG Pundit on his whining.
Pic unrelated. Is it the Annulus artifact from the Expanded Psionics Handbook?

I've been trying to think of titles that a red dragon would use, but I've been drawing a blank. Could you guys give me suggestions to get the creative juices flowing?

I'd imagine that if they'd claim territory then their title would be generic rather than a noble rank. "Lord of the Western Wastes" or "Master of the Drakespur Mountains", etc.

They might take a somewhat ironic title in some cases. E.g, a red dragon attacked a fuckhuge fortress and defeated it, and then settled in the ruins with his hoard. Over the centuries since then he became known as 'The High Castellan', a title he enjoys (and may or may not have encouraged in the first place).

What are some good examples of anachronistic interpretations of technology? The chief example of such that immediately strikes me is 40k obviously but trying to imagine how to portray a village workshop that has people in tunics and robes working on high tech equipment and what not.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Though, I think you need to clarify your question. An anachronistic interpretation of tech would be an old, outmoded way of thinking of technology. Like a system of highly trained pigeons as a method for rapid, global communication, instead of the internet.

What sort of Weapons would Haflings realistically use? Same for other small races like Kobolds, goblins, gnomes, maybe even pixies?

Slings. All battles would essentially be herds of little folk scurrying around, slinging stones en masse. It would be less of fighting an army and more of fighting a hail storm.

Same weapons as anybody else, just smaller.

If they're fighting taller races, probably more polearms.

Hey y'all, here's the sitch:

My DM pulled a switcheroo on all our PCs, and switched our highest chosen stats with our lowest chosen stats.

Unfortunately for my lovely Bard, this means pretty low (12) CHA, and relatively high (16) WIS as starting stats. My DEX is slightly better than STR, so I've got my bard using a crossbow as primary weapon, so that's not going too badly.

What I'd like to know is this:

Is there any possible way I can use a higher WIS score to my advantage? (taking Druid spells, etc etc) I'm unfamiliar with the rules of 5e, but anything would help.

I've already given most items in my Entertainer's Pack (disguise kits, costumes, etc) to my other party members who happened to get extremely high CHA scores, despite the fact they're a Monk/Fighter/etc, just to fill that role in the party somehow until I can get my CHA score up.

So in general, what I'm asking is, what would be the wisest way to level up this character? I'm assuming just to increase CHA when I can, as it affects spell attack, but if anyone who has more insight into 5e could help me out, it'd be much appreciated.

Also, because of this stat-switch, it seems like our character roles are changing from their original intent, which is pretty interesting. Our Druid has extremely high strength, so will probably be our bear-tank once she gets Wild Shape; is there any way I can use a high Wisdom score to assist the party? As a bard, I'm feeling a little bit more useless than I thought I would, because every time I try to do something typical of a "bard" archetype- Perform, Persuade, Deception, Disguise, etc etc, I fail miserably.

Not sure what role I can grow into, because right now it seems like "crossbow-and-dagger wielding hick who is very aware of the environmental surroundings and occasionally provides a couple of mediocre buffs once or twice per day"

I'm planning on playing this character throughout the whole campaign, and hopefully keep playing more campaigns with this group,

Assuming you still have the chance to pick out skills and everything else, I would say to focus on making a Wis-focused Skill monkey. Take mostly supporting and buffing spells that aren't reliant on Charisma.

>>
Honestly, if I was in your shoes, I'd have complained loudly and then quit if the GM refused to allow my PC to switch back somehow (e.g. heading to a local temple to get the cleric to cast Lesser Restoration or Remove Curse). DnD 5e assumes that all the characters will have a 16 in their important scores, and it'll break pretty quickly if that assumption isn't met.

The DM's job is to kill the group. Prove me wrong.

DMing is not adverserial. Go play a dungeon crawler boardgame if you want to murder other players.
>>
>>52674496
This is clearly bait but I'm bored so I'll bite.

If the DM's job is to kill the PCs, and the DM is in complete control over the game, then the DM has the ability to auto-win by just saying "rocks fall you die" as soon as the game starts.

If the DM is required to abide by some sort of fair play agreement, then where is this agreement? Is the DM allowed to homebrew monsters? If so, how tough can he make them? Is it suitably fair to put the group up against a level 1 Goblin with a million in each stat?

At the end of the day, constantly trying to kill the group is only going to make you run out of players (I suppose you could theoretically find some who like your particular style of constantly trying to kill their characters, but that would necessitate some sort of fair play rule that you abide by, even if it's not written down anywhere).

The DM's actual job is to help make sure everyone has fun, including themself. Incidentally, this is also the players' jobs as well. Typically that's going to take the form of sending challenges at the group that they can beat, or at least that they're able to run away from or avoid if it's unwinnable.

Different players look for different levels of challenge, and various other factors, but at the end of the day they all want a non-zero chance to win (or at least not die permanently) and most want a non-zero chance to lose. Exactly how high those numbers should be is a matter of opinion, and you should try to find a group who agree with you in that area.
>>
>>52674733
>At the end of the day, constantly trying to kill the group is only going to make you run out of players
Had a friend who basically ran out of players doing this no matter where he went. He didn't start from day one trying to kill the players, but he was/is a control freak, and when the PCs started to hit levels where they had access to more powerful magic, he would start getting frustrated, and would put the party into an unwinnable situation and go for the TPK. If it looked like they were actually beating the odds and at least some of them might survive, he would blatantly stack the deck against them until they died. This usually happened around 9th or 10th level in D&D. Last I heard from him, he had run off another group and was complaining that he couldn't find anyone to game with. You might ask why anyone would put up with this bullshit at all. It's because when he actually gave a shit he ran a fairly fun, challenging and immersive campaign. So it was a shock to show up for a gaming session and have the evening end with an extended version of "Rocks fall, everyone dies."

Why don't the gods just solve problems themselves instead of having priests do it? At least big ones like dragons and stuff.

>villain is working to awaken an ancient pantheon of elder gods
>everything he's done has been to this end- baiting two rival kingdoms into war to fuel the ritual, kidnapping young girls that meet the standards of ancient prophecy about the god's return, etc.
>villain has convinced a whole cult of loonies to follow him in this mad scheme to awaken the gods
>they're utterly devout and convinced of the divine glory of these ancient gods
>party have managed to piece together this is what he's doing
>party are headed towards the final ritual site to stop the villain
currently the campaign is here. i'm thinking of doing the following however:
>ancient tales of the elder gods are just that, stories and legends
>the villain knew this all along
>he's done everything he's done because he's a sick fuck, with too much time and money on his hands and he was bored
>he wanted to see if he could convince legions of people to dedicate their lives and violate their moral principles for a cause he'd just invented
>he's thrilled because even though the party are here to kill him and his ritual is bogus, he's had the time of his life pulling it all off

the villain in question has been established throughout the campaign as taking nothing seriously and genuinely enjoying all his encounters with the party, as if he's playing a part in some cosmic play, doing things like surrendering himself into their custody just so he could needle at them and try to set them against each other before escaping.

is this is a good twist or just some edgy bullshit i concocted in a fever dream? should i just go with the traditional 'ancient gods are real and you need to stop the ritual' angle? please advise.

The only thing that makes gods any more real than others is whether people believe in them. Maybe he started trying to pull the greatest con in history, but his cult is actually worshipping something. Giving it power. If he turns out to be right about the ritual, he'd go out with the biggest grin on his face.

>Manchild Passive-Aggressive Option:
The only NPC that will sleep with the randy PC is a Succubus. The PC's soul is ripped from their body through their dick. Tell the player to roll up a more reasonable character, or get the fuck out.

>Adult, Mature, Grown-up Option:
Make it clear to your group that you're not comfortable with roleplaying sex scenes, and explain how the problem-player's behaviour is creeping you out. You may find that the rest of the group feel skeeved out by the problem-player's behaviour, and so said player either needs to adjust their behaviour, or leave the group. You may also find that the group is unfazed by the problem-player's behaviour, or even encourages it, in which case the group just isn't for you, and you're better off leaving the group yourself.
