I never played AD&D, I started with 5e
>>
Okay, so I'm probably going to be running a game during a month-long study abroad trip this summer.
It's probably going to be OSR, since the books are light (or electronic!) and I don't especially want to haul my 5e stuff across the Atlantic and back.

My options right now are:
Beyond the Wall
B/X (My usual go-to, but it's kind of brutal for first-timers. I do have books, tho)
BFRPG (I've got three books and it's pretty flexible, but also a little on the B/X side of brutality)

Does anyone have any suggestions or alternatives? I'd run Flame Princess but it's a little 2edgy for the given crowd (which might include a professor's kid), and I kind of want to go for a more "pure" (if you can call a retroclone that) D&D experience.

Also, including the shitty OC I sort of abandoned work on a while back due to a lack of playtesting and time.

LotFP is just Bx.
The system anyways, the modules have "AESTHETIC"
But the modules run in Bx. No conversion needed.
They run in AD&D with almost no issues, even

Zombies work quite well as an antagonist that permeates the setting and keeps the pc's consistently at risk.

Which types of zombies create the best atmosphere for you? Romero style shamblers, Modern raged rabids, mutated abominations maybe?
Should they be mindless swarms, calculating pack hunters, or solitary creatures who go berserk if disturbed.

Post settings, tactics, art, means of transmission, anything you appreciate in a well done horror setting.

>Zombies work quite well as an antagonist

Your conclusion and entire thread hinges on an assumption that is not true.
>>
>>53241065
My mistake, should have written it as "Can work quite well"

I'm aiming to find some way around the usual bullshit that comes with using zombies in a setting, see if I can dredge at least one interesting campaign out of a tired concept.
>>
There are so many god damn types of zombies, and as a zombie fan I honestly love all of them.

Cordyceps zombies are really cool, and the additionally risk of just inhaling spores to get infected is very stressful and great.

Classic slow zombies are a bit lame just from over exposure, but if something else really important is going on it might be ok to have them as background fluff.

Body horror style necromorphs are also awesome. They're great specifically because it keeps zombies threatening; most zombies could be defeated with simple firearms and basic tactics, and when people die to them it sometimes strains disbelief. Things that grow forearm sized claws and acid spit are always a huge threat.

One idea I've thought about before but always wondered why it's never been done, at least as I can tell, is a kind of supernatural zombie? More vengeful spirit that spreads and destroys the world more or less? It could be like evil edgy ghosts that torture people and when they die they become more edgy ghosts, if you understand my drift. Obviously they could only be temporarily defeated with weapons if they were partially material, or could only be stopped by religion or magic.

BEST FRIENDS WORST FOES EDITION

Warmasters Triumvirate is an attempt at creation yet another 40k AU. The Primarchs have changed, and instead of appointing a single Warmaster upon returning to Terra, the Emperor leaves the Great Crusade in the care of three of his sons. This eventually culminates in a civil war between Loyalists, Chaos Traitors and Seperatists...

Since im gonna try and start anew, would this still be a good color scheme or should I try for something else?
>>
>>53238538
I think that's something already in use, or very close to a canon Chapter. And even if it's not, blue and white always winds up looking like an Ultramarines successor in any case.

That said, I tend to be very harsh about color scheme standards.
>>
>>53238538
I like it, I think the colours complement eachother fairly well. The question is do they already represent your legion's character, are the colours disconnected from them or are they chosen in complete opposition?

That was just as good of a way to lose then as it is now. Black Summer and Combo Winter both preceded planeswalkers.

Eldrazi Winter was probably the worst Magic has been recently, and it had fuck-all to do with planeswalkers. Also, the word is spelled "new."

I, Lord Farquaad, after much deliberation, have decided to send a message to all the kingdoms of the land: I desire the hand of a princess! Now, /tg/, what princesses do you have to offer me?

Why, Ogre, can't you see that all of these helpless creatures are but simple refugees? And, if I am correct, you have not paid a single property tax on your swamp for the past 35 years. I think you letting in some of these poor creatures is a good enough way to clear off all that debt isn't it? Besides, I hear that cultural diversity is a good thing nowadays!

Besides, if you were to say no, that would clearly expose yourself as a intolerable bigot. You're not a racist, bigot of a ogre, are you?

Red armor dude posing in a similar style as Guts in the image, but instead of the gigantic sword, it's a pillar with about an eighth or so broken off of it and the handle is just a length of rebar jammed into it. He's wearing a scarf similar to what's in the pick, but a bit more uneven, dirty, and disheveled since he's been wandering around in underground caverns for months. On his free hand is the Golden (Silver) Snitch perched on his finger, similar to how it is in the reference picture. It's not actually a Snitch from Harry Potter or whatever, it's just the closest comparison the DM and I could come up with.

A thread for arms and armor for sci-fi/science-fantasy settings.

Also, thread questions. Which of these would you prefer?

Your setting makes use of "smart matter" to generate bullets for you. It's not unlimited but vastly increases the amount of ammo you can carry.

Would this best accomplished through a magazine that had the technology integrated into it? (as in, the magazine will regenerate the bullets via smart matter when not connected to the weapon) The process is slower and you have to keep the magazines on hand with you. Or, you have a devices that can produce a disposable magzine with bullets in them but that reduces the amount of "Smart matter" used to create bullets because it has to create the magazine as well.
