Let's talk about your memorable npcs !

>Innocuous rug merchant
>Always doing the "Well, what is it?"
>NO INDOOR VOICE
>Voice like Dr.Teeth. Cyril Sneer and Rick Sanchez's love child
>Mole for organized crime ring
>Unexpected ally of the heroes
Not that good at making well-liked NPCs, but Ziggy left quite the impression.
Ancient powerful wizard, lives in a crooked tower that can teleport anywherein my multieverseAn expert at illusion spells, uses said spells to make himself appear as a handsome young man, as well as make the interior of his tower into anything he desires. [Spoiler] A shameless gm insert, like to meddle with adventurers for his own mysterious goals Have never used him twice with the same group, but he has appeared in multiple campaigns with different groups.

From a Player's perspective, the best NPC I've dealt with was a random shopkeep that was an owl shaman in Shadowrun. She hit it off with my character, a (at the time) mundane man that was wowed by her ability to tell so much about him with a glance due to astral perception. When she warned him he would wake up soon, he assumed from a tranquilizer he was injected with to avoid a panic attack earlier. He didn't think she meant he had magic within him.
After he awoken, he returned to the shop to see her and eventually she took him under her wing and trained him for five years on the Adept dos and don'ts. Eventually she became a sort of mother/older sister figure to my character, despite her being about five years his junior.
Though she still gets annoyed that he calls her 'sug' instead of 'teacher' or 'master' usually.
Sup /tg/ what would a transmutation wizard BBEG be like i was thinking about doing it. I was thinking he has given himself all kinds of wierd polymorphed body parts so he has like 1 bear arm and 1 ooze arm as well as falcon wings. would this kind of thing work as something the players would fight.
Just a gish with Wraithstrike.

KAAAAAAAAAARS
>>53262335
Various monsters assimilated into a single horrible looking abomination with all their abilities added to his.
Hey /tg/, I got an idea from a friend to create a D&D group, and plan to run 3rd Edition. Problem is I haven't DMed much before, and don't really know much about creating a campaign for it. I've got plenty of time to create a campaign sorta, but would love general advice on creating dungeons/adventures/worlds.

What IS the Light anyway?
>>53262081
>What IS the Light anyway?
Well in Warcraft it was ret-conned into "good-aligned", space wind chimes made entirely out of pure light and positive energy; whispering into the hearts and minds of mortal beings- compelling them to do good and destroy evil.
Basically anti-cthulu.
>>53262081
Depends on the setting
It changed over time literally because Metzen and editorial control over his bullshit changed over time.
>Warcraft I: literally Warhammer priests
>Warcraft II: loosely derived from the monotheistic Christian God
>Warcraft III: injects vagueness into WC2 explanation, holds more similarity to the Force in Star Wars
>World of Warcraft at first: a vague galactic power which is shared by all spiritually attuned beings opposed to the Burning Legion
>WoW in TBC: literally glowing space aliens
>WoW post-TBC: the substance or residue of dimensional gas passed on from 'some thing' great, harnessed into the material plane as focused energy

Say, sorry if this is a bit dumb but would anyone be interested in a short cyoa where you have an affair? If so, what would you want it to be like and what kind of options would you expect/want? Would you want to customize the girl your cheating with and choose the reason for your fling in the first place as well as what type of affair it might be. Customize your wife as well? IK the topics kinda dumb but reverse NTR and cuckquean shit is my jam and I kinda wanna make a cyoa for the subject.
What do y'all think of the classic Deadlands rules? I'm looking at running a gritty, western adventure and I don't think I'm sold on "Deadlands: Reloaded" or the Savage Worlds rules in general. Classic Deadlands seems a bit too clunky though, thoughts?
I can't help here but thanks for bringing this to my attention. I didn't know I needed zombie cowboys in my life until now.
>>53261485
It's not actually clunky at all, just takes some getting used to the suite system for initiative and whatnot. I don't know that I'd use it for a standard western, outside of the Deadlands setting, but it could work. Not a big fan of the chip system for XP, but it works I guess. Easiest fix is short and long term chips, you get duplicates you can spend on XP and use the rest for their in-game usage. Same complaint I have about the Cypher system, and the same fix.
>>53261838
That particular zombie cowboy is the deadliest fucker in the setting, a direct servant of the main threat of the setting. However, much like Ravenloft, you shouldn't go into it knowing much unless you're going to run it!

Alpha Blue. Yes, I'm aware of the controversy surrounding it, so I thought I'd give it a go and immediately regretted the purchase.
Controversy aside, the game sucks. The rules are oversimplified to the point of being completely unplayable, the random tables for character generation are awful and unless your DM lets you choose your desired result, you're basically guaranteed to get an unplayable character. The game even manages to include HIT POINT BLOAT in a system with basically no rules.
This is just one in a long line of purchases that have really soured me on the whole "Old School Renaissance" movement. The OSR label just seems to be an excuse to slap together a bunch of unrelated random generator tables, stitch them onto a barely functional ruleset and offload all of the work onto the DM.
>>53261385
Also the "Art" is ugly as sin. This seems to be stylistic choice in OSR and OSR related products. If you are an author in the OSR movement, stop it! Seriously, hideous artwork is something I am most definitely NOT nostalgic for.
>>53261385
So you gonna upload it or did you just make a thread for no reason
>>53261477
Not for no reason. I just figured I'd save you $8.
Objectively, what colour looks best on Space Marines?
Pic not mine, found it on Normiebook
Black and white.
>>53261308
>what subjective thing is objectively best
This thread is objectively shit.
>>53261308
I think that really depends on your skill as a painter.
I've seen people work wonders with an airbrush and create some goddamn stunning yellow color schemes. Namely HH Fists.
Blue kinda bores me, I'll be honest, though red (the other headliner color) can be fucking amazing if done right. The difference between different reds is great, and a bright fiery red can look amazing.
Black is fine, but a bit dull. Purple is fine, but a bit bright.
Green is the hardest because people (including GW) can never decide EXACTLY what shade of green Salamanders or DAngels should be. Dark greens can look very interesting though.
So my vote, even though it's not my favorite color, is for yellow. A well-done yellow is eye catching and easy to pick out the detail on.
40k, DnD, wargaming and RPG welcome.
A gun.
Because think about it, guns are practically magic. You pull a small trigger and someone far away from you dies.
A bolter possessed by a lesser daemon of nurgle.
It shoots poorly.
>>53261303
A combat weapon that give it's wielder a craving for food.
Pretty good combat stats, but after a few days you need to make a will save to avoid spending part of an action eating during combat. If you run out of food you try to bite your opponent.
Minus to diplomacy because you talk with your mouth full.
Has your party ever managed to convince the BBEG that he was in the wrong ?
or even better,Have you got him to commit sudoku ?
>>53261090
bump
>>53261647
Not really BBEG, but once upon a time we angered a questgiver so much, he attempted to have us killed - and succeeded with two of us.
A few years later, we (mostly accidentally) saved the world, and this very same questgiver took pity and decided that he was way too harsh on us - so he contacted us and gifted us a lamp with a genie, with two wishes still ungranted.
We fucked it up again.

New arcanas brought us a lot of archetypes, but some things are still missing. What do you want to see in the game?
Picrelated, a blighter would be pretty swell - or maybe some kind of abberation-themed druid, that doesn't scream goody two-shoes.
>>53260062
Shadow Dancer Rogue. I know you can already do it with a Monk/Rogue but Monk comes with too many abilities that don't fit.
I just want bonus action shadow-port and Sneak Attack.
Second for WotC should embrace their name and do away with martial classes.
Hoping for new items next arcana. Preferably old items updated for 5e.
Yeah I can and have been taking and updating AD&D and 3.5e shit, but trawling through pdf after pdf takes time.
