The storm rages for hours, tearing apart the landscape outside. The furious winds are too deafening for any of you speak, and all you can do is hunker down as low as you can to escape the noise and flying debris. You cannot believe how powerful the tempest is; the force of its rage is almost apocalyptic as earth-shattering thunderclaps and flashes of lightning pierce the void around you. Howls and screams rip through the air as rivers of whipping, razor-sharp sand scrape the rocks until they are as smooth as glass. The narrow entrance to the stairwell you stumbled upon – no, which you were led to – begins to fill with earth as the dune sea washes across the world with unimaginable speed. You begin to worry that you may be buried here in this cave, lost forever.

No. The four-legged shadow which led you from the tomb, which led you to water, and now, which had found you shelter – you were convinced it was real, and it wanted you alive. For what purpose there was no way to know, but you are confident it would not have led you to this place to die. A stray shard of bone-white stone rakes across your bare back, reopening the hundreds of tiny cuts on your skin. You sink lower and tighten your arm around your eyes, and you wait, alone with your thoughts...

*****

The hours drag by in a painful stupor, dreams smearing into reality so deeply you cannot tell them apart. You think you hear a young woman crying. The sounds of battle. A war chant carried by a hundred voices...

“Keje...” a voice calls to you. “Keje, wake up.”

The din of wind and war fades to echoes in your ears, and you lift your arm from your eyes to be greeted with darkness. Memories of the sarcophagus flood back into your mind, but you are anchored back to the now. You know that voice...

“Kirari,” you say her name. You feel a hand on your shoulder. “The others?” you ask.

“Still alive,” Dorje’s voice calls from beside you.

“Et...et kai...” you hear the merchant Royt say through winces of pain.

“And the native girl? Kiyya?” you ask the darkness.

Silence.

Kirari removes her hand from your shoulder, and a few heartbeats later the darkness retreats from a tiny, candle-like flame she holds in her cupped hands. Her soft features come into focus, bathed deeply in shadows that flicker with the arcane ember she carries in her palms. You look beyond her crouching figure and see the entranceway filled in, flooded with a mountain of sand. The opposite way, a narrow flight of stone steps descended deeper into the pitch darkness. Dorje sits up in the low-ceilinged passageway, bloodied but seemingly unhindered. The merchant is laying beside him, his tunic torn to bloody pieces but his breath still strong. When he sees the flame Kirari is holding, he turns pale and stares at her is disbelief. Clearly, magic is uncommon to his people.

Kiyya kneels at the sealed entrance, head buried in her hands. Her horse – Suna – still lies collapsed in the entryway, only its head still visible from beneath the sand pouring into the stairway. A bloody wound where the girl had caved the stallion’s skull in to end its suffering was prominent between its eyes. The girl said nothing as she mourned...she had long since run out of tears to shed.

>Voting

Most posts will be narrative, with the player and QM working together to create a worthy story. Every post will provide at least one might-based, nobility-based, and artifice-based avenue if applicable to the situation, and write-ins are both permitted and encouraged. Players vote for their preferred option, with majority determining the final choice. However, in the case of especially critical events, called “trials,” fate will be given its due through the roll of dice.

>Trials

During trials, after the majority have chosen a course of action, the QM will then roll 1d10, add the player’s relevant Aspect (Might, Nobility, or Artifice), and add any relevant bonuses from items or context. If the resulting sum meets the trial’s threshold, the player succeeds. If the sum falls short of the threshold, the player fails. For each margin of 3 the player exceeds or fails the threshold by, the outcome will be more severe (either positive or negative). Poor rolls by players in combat trials are assigned as enemy hits.

The thresholds for each trial are known only by the QM, and are different for every option. Depending on the situation, one option or another will probably be easier than the others. Sneaking past the elite palace guard will be easier than fighting all of them. Killing the feral tribe of cannibals is probably easier than talking them down diplomatically. This could change, of course, if the player is particularly proficient with one Aspect and deficient in another. Perhaps your Artifice is so bad that Might is the better option for getting past those palace guard, after all. Players should consider which approach is most likely to succeed given both the context of the trial and the character’s own skillset.

>Criticals

A trial roll of 10 that passes the threshold is a critical success, and reaps additional benefits. Conversely, a 1 that fails the threshold is a critical failure, and has additional consequences. A 10 that fails to beat the threshold still fails, but the player receives some accommodation, insight, or unforeseen benefit in the attempt. Likewise, a 1 that passes the threshold succeeds, but with a minor hiccup or unforeseen complication.

>Damage

Damage dealt by an enemy is equal to half its Might score (rounding down), and is applied to a character’s weapons and armor first. Once all weapons and armor are damaged, excess damage is assigned to a random Aspect (M, N, or A) by rolling 1d3. That Aspect is permanently reduced by this damage until it is repurchased with XP. Should any Aspect reach 0, the character is crippled and incapacitated until 1 week of medical attention restores the first dot of each Aspect. If any Aspect falls below 0, the character suffers death.

Let's see what's behind door number two.

Cape World is a superhero setting /tg/ has been working on for a while. There is a lot to know and read about but I will make this particular thread as generic and disconnected from any kind of lore as I can.

Pic and most other pics I will be posting are from Edspear

Here is the pastebin for our character, Blue Cobalt, and her team, the Generals.

Cape World has used multiple systems, but these characters are based on Mutants and Masterminds.

This is kind of a "test run", to see how well Cape World translates into a Quest, and to see how people like it. If this takes off I could probably continue running, but this really would be better in someone else's hands. I don't have as much free time as I would like available to keep a consistent schedule, I don't have experience, and my Internet connection isn't 100% reliable.

But for now let's all just enjoy this one thread for however long it lasts.

You are Blue Cobalt. You are an alien powerhouse, very strong, seemingly invulnerable, and able to jump 4 miles into the air. You are the muscle of The Generals, no military affiliation, just "superheroes in general". You have the alien-you, the scientist, the science experiment, the weird magic guy, and last but certainly not least the sexy ninja lady.

In addition to your strength you are also very intelligent, though that is somewhat held back by your ignorance of Earth. Despite having lived here for some time you are still awkwardly learning many things about human relationships. However, you firmly believe that reading books on the subject will adequately serve as substitute for actual human interaction.

You are female, you are tall, you blue-both in color and in mood-and, most importantly, you are tired. Kept awake for hours of internal pondering why senpai steadfastly refuses to notice you, switching gaze between the six bare, spartan walls that make up your personal bunker-"bedroom", you've heard it called a couple times-you slowly find yourself finally falling asleep.

It would be a shame if the Generals hotline were to call right now...

Forgot to mention, this quest will probably switch between characters, and, honestly, Trinity would have been a better character to start as.

But I didn't want to take away the optimal start from anyone who wants to to their own Cape World quest, which, again, I would be would be very happy to see.

You hear a distant ringing sound.

>Get up and investigate the issue

>Get up and yell at Doc to stop inventing this late at night

>Roll over and go back to sleep

>Smash your alarm and roll over and go back to sleep

>Something else, please feel free to suggest your own response, I'm not very experienced with this if you haven't noticed

>>194020
It could very easily just be the Doc fucking around, or your own alarm going off early.

Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you resigned yourself to the role of a prophet, read a book, and had a chat with a friend.

It is currently the 1st of Yuddha, in the year 936 NH.

As you exit into the hall alongside your friend and companion, Profectus' voice draws your attention away from the servant nervously watching you out of the corner of her eye. "You know, Mik. Speaking of forms of magic which aren't easily categorized-"

"We probably shouldn't speak of them so openly in public, I agree." You cut him off before he's able to publicly declare you've revived enchanting or name you a master of lost arts which seldom few know existed in the first place. He glances towards the servant, a nod his only acknowledgement of what you've said.

As the two of you begin to navigate the halls, Profectus' voice drops to a whisper. "No, but seriously. Why don't you do anything substantive with what you've come to understand? I mean, it kind of seems like you've only used it to create trinkets."

"I'm not really sure." You admit, sighing wearily. "Lack of necessity and ideas, I suppose. I've been toying with a few ideas though. Making a ring to expand the mind, or a weapon of some sort to shoot lightening. I think both would be fairly simple artifacts to make, but I worry they may need to be further refined before I actually attempt to create them. Obviously I'd need some method of controlling the lightening weapon, I was thinking vys could work. Perhaps some sort of elaborate construction similar to my pistol whereby depressing a trigger presses a mark rune to an array activated by mark, thus firing the weapon. I feel I would need Skull Kid's assistance in constructing such a weapon in a manner that doesn't shock the user."

Profectus nods his head appreciatively. "Alright, lightning guns sound useful. I could get behind that. All I'm saying, Mik, is that you've been given a gift that you've hardly used." He can see your obvious rebuttal, and begs you hold your tongue. "I know, I know. I'm hardly one to talk. I at least recognize my laziness for what it is."

As much as you hate to admit it, he has a point. You still dig your elbow into his arm. Not hard enough to cause any real harm, but he feigns hurt nonetheless. "Perhaps I'll let you test my creations then, if you're so eager for me to put what I've learned to good use."

He shrugs his shoulders, stone hand rubbing his upper arm. "I wouldn't mind that. Gods know it wouldn't be the first time, and I imagine your artifacts would require a lot less bodily harm than the ones currently attached to me."

You fall into a comfortable silence following that conversation. Your walk through the castle is brief and uninterrupted. For some reason most of the servants seem to be actively avoiding you, one going so far as to duck into a slave's passage the very moment you stepped into the hall. You don't really consider your new appearance that frightening, and your companions don't seem to mind it either. Granted your group of friends probably aren't a good metric by which to judge the opinions of the wider populace. Especially considering that half of them cling to the societal mores of a civilization long dead.

You emerge into the courtyard to find Darzi already waiting for you, dressed in loose fitting pants and having forgone a shirt in favor of a simple cloth wrap around her breast. You allow yourself a moment to admire her as she moves through the ninety-three forms of Marsala Ve. It's strange to think that only a few months ago, seeing her bare this much skin would be unthinkable. So insecure was she regarding her scars. Now she wears the scattered collections of puckered flesh which crawl their way across her forearms as badges of honor.

Then you realize that Profectus is admiring her in much the same way you are, and jealousy rears its ugly head. You remind yourself that he likely isn't aware of the relationship between the two of you, and that Darzi would never debase herself with an elf, but it bothers you nonetheless.

“You should probably stretch, Mikhael.” Darzi's voice serves to remind you why you're here. She currently stands posed upon one foot, her other stretched nearly vertically in the air. “I don't plan on treating you gently.”

With a reluctant sigh you remove your cloak and fold it neatly, setting it aside for the time being. Then you take up your position at the opposite end of the courtyard and begin to run through your own forms. Where as Darzi moves through each stance slowly and methodically, every muscle carefully controlled, you tend to prefer more explosive burst of movement. After all in actual combat you're not going to be lightly tapping your opponents.

Profectus takes a seat on the rim of a fountain, watching passively while he enjoys that flatbread wrap creation of his. “You know,” He pauses to swallow his mouthful of meat and bread. “I never quite understood why you Samjan have to get all theatrical with your combat. We never did anything nearly this elaborate in training. Just had some wicker shields and wooden swords and we'd beat the crap out of each other.”

“Perhaps that is why the soldiers of Rhynia are infamous for their inability to act independently.” Darzi shoots back, her arm gliding slowly forward as though to strike with the elbow. “You are not trained to fight as an individual but as a group. A philosophy with its own benefits and drawbacks, but one which we have never shared.”

Prof finishes off the last of his breakfast before offering a reply. “Well it certainly served us well, considering we conquered nearly the whole of Northern Hiacia. Personal skill doesn't matter much on a battlefield, after all. When ten thousand men clash discipline wins the day.”

You frown, slipping easily back into the first form after a sweeping kick. “It's not like the Rhynian Empire managed to keep their territorial gains. For the vast majority of the war the Fortress of Eshnuk served as the border between Rhynia and Hiacia. There are notably few examples of expansion beyond, limited to the rule of but a single Emperor and lost during the reign of his successor.”

You finish running through each of the ninety-three forms only moments after Darzi managed the same, despite her initial head start. With that out of the way you turn to face one another, bowing low as a sign of respect. It seems Darzi intends to spar traditionally, judging by the fact she immediately falls into her stance, but you were under the impression that you'd be meditating upon forms first.

>You'd actually prefer to meditate using a different method, like Meditation upon Reality, so this works out perfectly.
>Suggest getting the meditation out of the way before you start throwing one another around the courtyard.
>If you spar first, Meditation upon Forms could serve as a way to relax afterwards.

After the reform the Priesthood decided to give our Faith a new label, a name by which everyone can recognize it.
Previously it was just there, we didn't really care about distinguishing it from other beliefs, but the more time has passed on and the more fanatics we have met, the more apparent it became to us, that in a world full of people who try to force their Gods on us, that it is not only just, but necessary for us to do the same.

Thus, the priesthood came to the conclusion that our believers are henceforth known as Sarilists.
Because of our faith in Sarilu and his vassals, it is only right for the children of Sarilu to be the Leaders of our Faith.
As fate happens to want it, Sarilu has a lot of children, his dynasty is also currently ruling Kianur, and will hopefully remain to do so forever.
Thus, the Priesthood has granted the Sarsarrum the title of Anshargal (Great Prince of Heaven) as the rightful successor to Gilgaram.

The Sarsarrum, while honored, is not impressed, but realizes the potential that lies with his dominion over the Priesthood.

He's got better things to do right now however, and decides to look for an ancient trade-kingdom he's read about in the great libraries.
"Carthage"

This kingdom allegedly lies to the west, so he sends a few Tamtubaltus westward, and hopes to get an answer some time soon.

Surely enough, after about 2 weeks he's got an answer from the West.
The "Kingdom" of Carthage has become a Republic in the meantime.
The Sarsarrum is not quite sure that what is, but his chancellor has the knowledge to explain it to him.
Apparently, a Republic is not run by a King, but instead an elected leadership of Commoners.
That Idea just seems ridiculous to him, but what Barbarians do at home is none of his concern.

He decides to open trade with Carthage, seeing as both have quite the interest in money.

It is unclear however what will come of this trade in the future.

What will we do next?

Hello one and all, and welcome to Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Quest. A quest inspired by the incredibly weeaboo series Dangan Ronpa. You like killing games like Battle Royale? You like Murder Mysteries? You just might enjoy this quest! (I make no guarantees though.) This quest is set at the prestigious Yggdrasil Academy International, where a mysterious set of circumstances unfold.

Yggdrasil Academy is a prestigious boarding school catering to a specific set of secondary school students gathered from four countries: The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the United States. There are two main entry requirements for this academy. One, students must already be attending secondary school, and be at least 16 years of age. Two, students must be the absolute best at a specific talent out of the combined student body of the four countries listed above. There is no way to apply to Yggdrasil Academy. The only way in is for the school itself to scout you. Because all students attending the academy have something they specifically are the absolute best at, they are referred to by a specific title.

Omegas.

As they're the complete end-point when it comes to students in pursuit of that talent, it's only fitting to call these end-points of talent Omegas. After all, there's no surpassing an Omega.

Our Protagonist, Zachary Lineman, is the Omega Actor. After having been granted access to the first floor, Zachary managed to get Monokuma's permission to put on a play. To that end, he retired to his room for the day to rewrite the script of one of his favorite plays from memory alone.

DAY 5: END

DAY 6: BEGIN

It seems you dozed off at your desk, penning the final copy of your masterpiece of a script. Checking the clock on your wall you notice that it's 8 AM. You're late for breakfast! You shower and dress in a matter of mere minutes and charge out the door. When you arrive at the dining hall, there's no one there. Of course, that makes sense. After all, the others met up for breakfast an hour ago. They're probably somewhere around here. Of course, you haven't eaten yet...

Welcome to Reality Quest! You are a student with a head full of clouds and a passion for adventure. You just waved goodbye to your family as they drove off, leaving you in a town you have never entered before. You are told it is called Heber City.

Eventually, you'll need to make it to the city of Fort Collins, but you had better get your bearings and make preparation to leave first.

What do you do first?

Guidelines:
- Everything is real here. I can't draw, so it's easier this way.
- Legal and ethical actions have a higher chance of keeping you out of jail.
- If you take too long to decide on a course of action, your legs and arms may start moving on their own.

You have no mirror, but perhaps a sideways photo will do. You are an average-looking guy about 20 years old. You have been cursed with poor eyesight, so you wear glasses. You are told that adventurers wear Edgy Black Shirts.

>Also, why are we here?
Ever since you can remember, you have yearned for adventure and the feel of the open road. D&D taught you that it's really not that hard, and you get lots of gold along the way! And it feels right. It feels important that you go.

You look out over the side of the airship and examine the port. This port is used for both airships and traditional marine ships and there is a very active market. Recap:
You're a Biotech student and Bot-battle enthusiast who has awoken in a post-apocalyptic world, were you're last normal human alive. Other species of Homo Sapiens now populate the planet.

- The "beautiful" Nymphs: Descendant of the rich crowd who favored gene-modding themselves, and therefore, have survived the biological warfare and artificial diseases without needing to depend on treatments.
- The stoic and strong Titans: Descendants of Super Soldiers, mass-produced superhumans to be used in the war.
- The powerful and wise Witches: Originally human, they originated from your time, before the apocalypse, and have sustained themselves until now by bio-engineering themselves to the extreme, and "eating" other humanoids to replenish their tissues.

-Red Witch: The first witch you met, and an expert in mechanical technology. Enthusiastic, arrogant and self-centered. Stole Witch-technology from Blue to make her what she is now. She has a harem of Nymphs which she uses as livestock, back at the city.
-Adam: The leader of the Red Witch's Nymph harem.
-Laura: Nymph child the Red Witch used as a human bomb which you saved.
-Pampi: Former member of Red's harem, Blue's current apprentice, and your main aid in healing Jenny. Insightful and affectionate, but easily gives into pressure. Ridiculously proportioned Nymph, and one of your lovers.
-Jenny: The closest thing you have to a daughter. Has a child-like passion, and loves books, but he can't read. She is a Nymph you've rescued from being fully digested by the Red Witch, and you've spent a lot of time trying to reverse the damage she has sustained.

Titan Village
-Blue Witch: The inventor of the Witch technology, and living patron saint of the Titan village. Old, patient and maternal. She is an incredibly powerful, but crippled ally, who needs to rest often due to her self-sacrifices for the greater good.
-Black Witch: One of Blue's former apprentices. A titan-witch. Tina's mother and an expert in psychology. Loving and kind but Machiavellian and cold to achieve her goals. Obsessed with the mental limitations Titans have, such as being unable to lie, and their lack of individualism.
-Keiko: A gigantic Nymph/Keiko mix, larger than any other due to liger-like hybrid vigor. Naïve and impulsive, but with a good heart. Finds you immensely attractive because you're neither a Titan or a Nymph, but "right in between".
-Tina: The Black Witch's daughter. Ambitious and insolent. Currently, the only Titan who can lie.
-Titan Elders: Religious group of aged titans which live underground, take care of Blue, and lead the younger ones above.
-Rodri: Gruff titan who went with you on an expedition. A trustworthy man.
-Charles Smith: An Angel. Historian who helped the Titans found their village and religion. Cowardly, but good-natured.

You knew that the Red Witch was going to trade off Tizona - the only weapon that could kill a Witch, to someone from 'Glitter Island', which was guarded by the Nalcor - a gigantic mech who is stranded on the island.

The problem with Glitter island was that Nalcor. Apparently, Glitter Island got that name from the graveyard of mechs that surround it, enemies which the Nalcor had defeated.

But why would the Red Witch want to sell off the only item that can kill her, given her obsession with her own survival and immortality?

It was a question you mulled on in Pampi's hut, as you ate lunch - chicken with cucumbers. No sauce, no dressings, just that. Titan cuisine was rather bland, but you've gotten somewhat used to it already.

You noticed that there was an odd, muffled sound coming from that new choker Pampi made for herself, when she poked it, and she was poking it a lot recently. It was like a suction cup being attached and detached or something - you couldn't hear it too well.

"Can I clone you?" Pampi then asked, out of the blue. Her pupils turned into hearts as she looked at you, as they had recently developed to do.

"What?" you muttered into the piece of chicken you were putting into your mouth as you blinked. You pulled it out and looked at her. "Clone? Why?"

"J-Just say yes or no!" she chuckled, uneasily. "And, it wouldn't be full cloning, that would take way too long to grow and harvest, not to mention like, I'd have to use up so much material just to make something like that..."

She was right. Harvesting skin like you've done for the Demon Box was fairly easy, but things more complex than that were more troublesome.

"...But anyways! Y-yes or no?" she finalized, looking at you with pleading eyes as she started to knead that choker of hers into her neck with two fingers.

Cloning?
>Sure, no problem.
>No. It's out of the question.

Her new choker
>Ask her about what it is, it's important.
>Ask her about it, but don't try to insist if she is reluctant to answer.
>Don't bring it up.

You are Dvorak Thunderbutt, a blacksmith living in Drump City.

You are currently in a store named Dido's Crap, trying to buy some soap to clean off Potato Sack Jerry, an old vub berry junkie who is squatting in an abandoned mine you'd like to start mining. He is stinking up all the ore! Nobody wants stinky metal.

You are looking at the soap selection. Currently, Dvorak is thinking about getting the Duck Soap since it's gentle on the eyes and it might keep PSJ from going berserk.

What should she do?

Get industrial soap, upgrade it to +2, get fancy soap. Wash him with the industrial stuff first to get the smell thoroughly off and then fancy him up with the expensive stuff.

How much money do we have left?

It is April 16th, 2011. It’s been three days since The Undersiders robbed a bank on the other side of town. But that's not your story. Not your problem. Quite frankly, you’ve got better things to worry about than what some new gang is up to. You are:
A student, attending a fairly prestigious university in Brockton Bay.
A wageslave, working for a nondescript company, in a nondescript office, at a nondescript cubicle.
A bum, living off the street.

>Your tribe was massacred by raiders. Only a few of you managed to escape with your lives.
>Since then you gathered more people and came to settle in a new land.
>Over a year has passed, with great strides made and a respectable amount of progress.
>Now you are in a position where you pay regular tribute to a larger tribe for protection, regularly trade with the other nearby small tribes when you can, and seem to have attracted the attention of raiders.
>All the while you continue to advance, and deal with such problems as tribal demographics, religious quandarys, and keeping secrets.

Knowing all this, how do you proceed?

>Continued with relevant information.

In total your tribe is 16 people of various groups and backgrounds, living out of a wooden fort built around a cave, near the edge of a large lake in the middle of a forested region. You have the beginnings of some crops as well as a number of domesticated animals. Because of everyone being busy and good organizational skills, the tribe is well stocked and has many provisions. This helps for when every two weeks, a group from a larger nearby tribe comes for tribute with the promise of protection.

A couple months ago you ambushed and killed most of one of their tribute parties, imprisoned the rest, though you were able to pass it off more or less as the work of evil spirits. Moving forward now, it seems you ran afoul of some raiders coming to the region.

I have redone the population statistics.

Population total = 16
>>183735
Hey it's me, the numbers guy who apologises for slight inaccuracies. Caused by me accounting for a child twice.

Now to the stats;

Culture percentages; (Enslaved populations are treated as a separate culture)

Original tribe = 37.5 %
Lumpar tribe = 12.5 %
Enslaved Lumpar tribe = 18.75 %
Nomad tribe = 25.0 %
Enslaved Raider tribe = 6.25 %

Next gender (Including children/babies) percentage male = 37.5 % male

Percentage enslaved = 25 % (3/4 of whom are Lumpar)

I'll vote in a separate post

My name is Mary.

I now own a dungeon.

Not by choice, mind you. I was forced into this when the previous owner placed a curse on me after I tried to audit him. Now I'm the ruler of this place until my asshole of a boss decides to send someone to free me from the curse.

So, anywhere between a month and forever.

But I'm trying to make the most of it while I'm here.
I've been running the dungeon well. I've got quite a bit of staff and a small army now.

And even though everything is going well.
It just seems so hectic.

How do people live like this?
All the noise
All the movement.

I liked my other job. I could just sit at my desk, do paperwork.
Occasionally I would go out and audit some people.

I saw a Mimic eat a Slime today.
That's just not something I normally see.

"The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and what could be again."
