After the reform the Priesthood decided to give our Faith a new label, a name by which everyone can recognize it.
Previously it was just there, we didn't really care about distinguishing it from other beliefs, but the more time has passed on and the more fanatics we have met, the more apparent it became to us, that in a world full of people who try to force their Gods on us, that it is not only just, but necessary for us to do the same.

Thus, the priesthood came to the conclusion that our believers are henceforth known as Sarilists.
Because of our faith in Sarilu and his vassals, it is only right for the children of Sarilu to be the Leaders of our Faith.
As fate happens to want it, Sarilu has a lot of children, his dynasty is also currently ruling Kianur, and will hopefully remain to do so forever.
Thus, the Priesthood has granted the Sarsarrum the title of Anshargal (Great Prince of Heaven) as the rightful successor to Gilgaram.

The Sarsarrum, while honored, is not impressed, but realizes the potential that lies with his dominion over the Priesthood.

He's got better things to do right now however, and decides to look for an ancient trade-kingdom he's read about in the great libraries.
"Carthage"

This kingdom allegedly lies to the west, so he sends a few Tamtubaltus westward, and hopes to get an answer some time soon.

Surely enough, after about 2 weeks he's got an answer from the West.
The "Kingdom" of Carthage has become a Republic in the meantime.
The Sarsarrum is not quite sure that what is, but his chancellor has the knowledge to explain it to him.
Apparently, a Republic is not run by a King, but instead an elected leadership of Commoners.
That Idea just seems ridiculous to him, but what Barbarians do at home is none of his concern.

He decides to open trade with Carthage, seeing as both have quite the interest in money.

It is unclear however what will come of this trade in the future.

What will we do next?

The Sarsarrum tries to ease the tensions between the Empire and the Mycenaean League, by blessing them with his own divine presence.

The Empire is out-raged at such a bold move, barbarians do not deserve such an elegant man in their lands, but the Sarsarrum has made his decision.

The Sarsarrum and his personal guards make their way for Athens, sending a messenger ahead of them.

During his trip, the Chancellor is in charge of the Empire and was tasked with the renewal of several cities, who have fallen to neglect under persian occupation.

After a month, the Sarsarrum has arrived in Athens and makes his way for the Palace.
The Sarsarrum has a tall and imposing figure, his gold-plated armor shines in the glistering sunlight and the Mycenaean commoners feel humbled in his presence as he casually strolls through Athens on his way to meet their Politicians.

He finally reaches the Palace and begins his talks.
The Barbarians are baffled that our great Sarsarrum speaks their language, and fluently as well.

The talks last for months, and the Sarsarrum stays in a shabby location within Athens.
No one knows what went through his mind when he decided that, when there are plenty of better options.

After finally coming to a conclusion, the Sarsarrum and his guards leave Athens, as the borders between the Mycenaean world and ours are open again.

However the Sarsarrum decided to roam the country-side for a few months before returning home.

During his presence, the Sarsarrum has sparked plenty of interest in our Culture among the Mycenaeans.

After almost a year, our glorious Sarsarrum finally returns home and is informed about the progress of the projects he tasked his chancellor with.

Turns out he was doing better than expected and has actually managed to get something done.

The Sarsarrum himself could have probably done better, but this is as good as it gets from his subordinates, so he's fairly content with the situation.

Thanks to his effort in Mycene, Scholars from all over the Civilized and Barbarian world now swap back and forth between the Kianur and Mycene.

This new exchange of knowledge, greatly benefits the Empire and expands the great libraries greatly.

Things are going smoothly and while the Economy still has to recover from both the occupation and the Persian wars, the Sarsarrum is confident that he can fix the problem.

What are we going to do next?

The Sarsarrum wanting to expand the trade with Carthage, has ordered the creation of several new Harbors along the North-Egyptian coast (for us the entirety of Africa is "Egypt") however we ran into some unexpected trouble.
When our troops tried setting up the first coastal settlement outside of our Empire, they were attacked by Barbarians and wiped out.
We always assumed that there were no Barbarian tribes in North-Egypt, seeing as the Egyptians themselves brought Civilization to them.
This can only mean that our records of Pre-Sea Peoples Egypt is wrong, or that these people are in fact savage Egyptians.

Our Scholars try and find answers to this question by demand of the Sarsarrum.
We've searched through all the libraries in Egypt, and finally, we turned up something.

These Barbarians are called Libyans. Apparently they have been harassing Egypt for Millennia, unable to be taught the civilized way.

As things stand right now, we would have to conquer all of Libya to put these Barbarians at ease and introduce them to the light of civilization, before we can even think of creating trade-ports along their coast.

However, the Empire in it's current state cannot feasibly hold onto another territory without it severely damaging imperial Integrity, due to the massive costs related to such an operation.

We have to find some other way to meet the demands of the Sarsarrum.

What are we going to do?

(well lads, updating this map took for fucking ever, 2 goddamn hours. If you're wondering what's with the big empty space, that's Persia.)

our ships don't need to stop every day, they're pretty big, it's just safer in general to have multiple places for them to dock in between the Empire and Carthage.

Unwilling to put the Empire at risk, the Sarsarrum hatches a brilliant idea.
He sends agents into Carthage to spread word of supposed riches in Libya and convince the Council to invade Libya and bring it under state control.

The plan succeeds, and Carthage does in fact invade Libya. It took our agents about 3 years to convince the council of this.
To our own surprise, the Carthaginians actually find Gold and Silver in Libya.
As nice as it would be to own these mines ourselves, we the expense to get it is just too great.

The Carthaginians have shed quite a lot of blood during this campaign however, and this has led them to take an interesting stance to military tactics.
They gave the Libyan barbarians near-independent autonomy, in exchange for some taxes and the right to control all trade in the country.

This has worked surprisingly well, and the Carthaginians are using this wealth to hire Libyans as Mercenaries to fight their wars for them.

Maybe, we have misjudged the Carthaginians.
While they don't appear to be the most honorable of people, they do seem fairly civilized.

The Sarsarrum, is showing some respect for Carthage and has acknowledged them as a civilized people.
Like Egypt before them, they are the only speck of civilization outside of the Empire, and almost equal to us in their elegance and superiority over the Barbarians.

It seems we're having fairly peaceful and prosperous times ahead of us, though the issue of our economy has still not been resolved, and the Sarsarrum is still unwilling to open up the Empire for large-scale trade again, out of fear of economic dependency on barbarians.

Simply constructing more roads and renewing out-dated infrastructure has barely brought us any profit, and Banks don't appear to be too popular among people either.

What are we going to do?

(map is just the 1-city name update)

Nope, Cyrus rekt us, we waited until the Greco-Persian wars before we returned from the Indian exile and invaded Persia, with support of Crete, Sparta, the Hellenic League, the Ionian rebellion, a Median rebellion that we sparked and a rebellion of our own people.

The Result was us regaining our Empire + Persia and Egypt.
Media joined us because no eligible king.
All of that was like 30 years ago.
>>
>>190981
Okay, so with an empire as big as this one, trade with foreigners isn't our main concern. What we need is economic stimulation within our own borders. We need goods made by our people that our people also want to buy, none of that cheap foreign garbage made by shit-flinging Greeks. We need to give incentive to our artisans and craftsmen to make quality goods and encourage non-craftsmen to become ones, while also improving technology for agriculture, seeing as the bulk of the population are farmers

Median businessmen have had an Audience with the Sarsarrum a few days back, they told him about riches in what was once Persia.
The Sarsarrum was skeptical, but the Merchants have some solid evidence in the forms of tax documents from Persia prior to Cyrus, in which materials such as Gold, Iron, Silver and an unknown material called Lapis, are to be found en-mass.
Intrigued by such overwhelming evidence for the richness it contains , the Sarsarrum has ordered expeditions throughout the entirety of Persia to find them and set up settlements near potential mines and already existing ones.

Meanwhile back at home, something interesting has happened, a peasant who by accident has planted the wrong crops, had a bad harvest, but his animals had something to eat at least because of it, and he found the soil to be more fertile afterward.

Thus he decided to do it on purpose once, he split his huge 2x2 divided fields, into smaller 3x3 divided ones and began planting useless seed in 1/3 of it, another 1/3 of wheat, and he waited until summer to plant another 1/3 of the field with wheat.

The result was surprisingly effective.
1/3 of the soil was always fresh and fertile and any given time of the year.
and the different seeding times between the others, has resulted in a more steady food supply over the year.

This is big news, he spreads the word in his town and word eventually reaches the Sarsarrum himself, thus he grants the peasant an audience with him.

Nervous as the man may have been, his information was valuable.
The Sarsarrum declares the man a Hero and by his right as Anshargal, he also recognizes him as blessed by Mesthur herself for this discovery.

As a result, the Sarsarrum decrees a new law, which forces all peasants in the Empire, to work their fields in this new fashion.

The long-term effects of it have yet to be seen though.
The Sarsarrum has also sanctioned any foreign imports, other than that of Carthage, with high taxes, to prevent the cheaper barbarian produce of goods such as Bronze, Papyrus, Marble and Wood, from threatening our domestic industries, that also produce them, but either at a higher price or in lower numbers, which is technically bad for us, but the Sarsarrum hopes that the heavy taxation on barbarian imports, will provide the Empire with enough money to subsidize our industries and subsequently making production and distribution cheaper and grander in scale.

Things are going pretty well for the Empire
And our economy will sooner or later be functioning again.

(map update has to wait, there's a lot of research I need to do first)

The expeditions into Persia have returned and while they did not find any Silver, they sure came back with quite the news.

Northern Persia is a land of unfathomable riches, there also appears to be a people living there we haven't encountered yet, a people known as Afghanis.
Judging from that name they have to be a Hindustani people that was hiding in the mountains away from the Persians, as well as us.

The expedition leader was ahead of the Sarsarrum though and has convinced the Afghanis that what we did to the Persians was ONLY directed at them and nobody else, and as a sign of trust, we have created several new Fortress-cities, each of them lead by an Afghani .
The Sarsarrum isn't particularly happy about this outcome, especially considering it is his and only his right to grant lordships of cities, but he will overlook it for the sake of the Empire.

The expedition has documented almost a hundred viable mines around these new cities, they're filled to the brink of Copper, Gold, Iron and this Lapis material, which turns out to be a rare, precious stone, with a strong blue hue, much like Sapphire.

The Sarsarrum is overjoyed at all of these discoveries.

The Sarsarrum is taking the opportunity to quickly increase the population of these new cities and boost the work force there at the same time, by sending thousands of Unemployed workers, with their families, to these cities, which is only possible due to his Worker Program that he introduced early in his reign.

The Empire is on the verge of success!

With these new mines under our control, the Empire manages to recover from it's economic problems and we enter a golden age of Peace and Prosperity.

Decades, even Centuries pass.

In that time, we have fought several times with the Mycenaeans, and stood victorious every time.
Though, things have changed drastically in past years.

Carthage has expanded quite a lot into North-Egypt and now reaches all the way from the west-coast, to our border.

The Fledgling Kingdom of Rome that we encountered in the Pre-Persian days, has also changed, it too became a Republic.
After it was overrun by a barbarian people known as the Celts, lead by their Chieftain Brennus, Rome has changed from a reclusive barbarian tribe, to a local power that managed to conquer all of it's neighbors.

In Mycene the Kingdom of Macedon has had a change of leadership.
We killed the previous King Philip II in battle, and now his son Alexander III is out to conquer our Empire.

This laughable effort became more realistic though, when he conquered all of Mycene, including our allies in Sparta.

When he conquered Lydia , that is when we went to war against him.
This young man, or rather boy, is cutting through our ranks with ease.
His military skills are nothing like we've ever seen.
Even though his troops are inferior to ours in every way, he has not lost a single battle.
Our Sarerimhas are despairing at the mere thought of him.
Alexander managed what no Barbarian has before.
He conquered our glorious Empire, as a whole.
The Crown Prince has fled into Exile in Carthage, there was nowhere else he could go.

Our Empire is no more.
And with the death of Alexander III, whom his people call "The Great" , he is succeeded by his son Alexander IV.

The boy was assassinated however by his father's Generals.

The "Hellenistic Kingdoms" that arose from our lands, are Ptolemaic Egypt and Seleucid Annunakiminem.

The Seleucids conquer Media and get a hold of what was once Persia.

Meanwhile in Hindustan, our former ally Magadha has fallen into the hands of a usurper King called Changdragupta Maurya.

Changdragupta conquers nearly all of Hindustan and even expands his reach into Persia, after inflicting a crushing defeat on the Seleucids.

Meanwhile the Seleucid expansion into the west has been put to a halt, by the Mycenaean League and Rome.

The Seleucids are incapable rulers, they cannot feasibly hold onto such a vast Empire without the necessary means of administration.

People all over the Empire are in uproar, and in Carthage the grand-son of the exiled Crown Prince has gathered an army of mercenaries.

He is ready to return and take back from the Mycenaeans what is his.

It is the year 301 BC

well that was a heated vote
here goes.

The Prince sets sail for Annunakiminem, and his mercenaries set sail about a week later.
Both are headed for Tutankaia.

The Prince arrives in tutankaia as just another Carthaginian merchant and is quick to get himself a better disguise in the city.

he steals a horse outside the city and rides it toward thumim.

After about 2 days he arrives and re-saddles for a Hippo instead, riding into the city, looking like just another greek beggar.

he slowly rides to Tutankai Plaza, the largest market place in the urban center of Thumim.

He bumps into a soldier as he rides.
The Mycenaean soldier becomes aggressive, he pushes the man off the Hippo and holds a spear to his throat.
He says "You who protects the citizens, dare lay a hand against one?"

a small crowd begins to form around them.

"Listen here friend, back in my day, we rode Hippos across the Sea. And when the likes of you got in their way, we simply gave them bees. It's not like you would know about bees in the dark, but Kings of 50 sure know a lot about it. It happened once that the Jews wanted our bees, and our answer was White.
White friend, white, do you even have white?
Your kind looks like they only have bees!"

The Soldier didn't understand a word of the rambling old man and just left the market place.

The "Old man" then gets on top of his Hippo and takes off his hood , revealing his identity right in front of a statue of Gilgaram the Ceaseless.
The boy bore striking resemblance to his ancestor, and people recognized him.

Beggars, Guards and Robbers, they all joined him, and soon, the rest of Thumim.

Near 200 thousand people are rebelling against the Seleucids.
The Prince and his rebel army make their way back for Tutankaia, where his agents have already taken over the city in the name of the rebellion.

Together with the Mercenaries that just arrived, the Prince marches back into the heart-land of Annunakiminem, inciting rebellions in every town he passes by.

Soon our entire people are revolting.

The Prince lays siege to Seleucea - the Capital of the Seleucid Empire.

Their Basileus commits suicide in his palace.

The resistance of the Empire was short-lived against a rebellion of such scale.
After only 2 months, the Prince has regained control of the Empire and was formally crowned Sarsarrum in Thumim.

The Mycenaeans have been driven out of the Empire, but not everything these barbarians have brought was bad.

Despite their ironfisted and despotic rule, they did bring some interesting new cultural aspects with them, especially in the form of Art and Science.

This is only the beginning in our reconquest.

What is our next move?

(I tried really hard to make it sound retarded and cryptic at the same time, while having ACTUAL meaning)

Well, I suppose we should modernise our armed forces and re-establish anything that was destroyed by the Mycenaean's in their conquest.

Also make sure our great library isn't burned down or anything, that seems like it would be annoying.
>>
>>195053
>After only 2 months
Godlike!
>interesting new cultural aspects
Integrate them into our culture. They're ours now and always were.
>re-establish anything that was destroyed
It's been generations though... good thing they didn't destroy our statues.

>What is our next move?
We don't control India? We at least want to integrate our rulers' families. Political marriages now, they're our Sister Empire!
>>
>>195053
Build giant statues around the Empire proclaiming that the Holy Empire of Man is eternal. We may fall for a time, but we will always rise again, always!
>>

>Political marriages now, they're our Sister Empire!

Meanwhile in Hindustan, our former ally Magadha has fallen into the hands of a usurper King called Changdragupta Maurya.

Changdragupta conquers nearly all of Hindustan and even expands his reach into Persia, after inflicting a crushing defeat on the Seleucids.
>>
>>195099
actually it hasn't been "generations" only 30 years, it seems like more because the Crown prince and his son didn't live very long in Carthage, because they don't have the same standards we do.

That is some background knowledge I can't expect you guys to have, I mean I never told you about it.
>>
>>195110
Damn. Can we channel our people's rage and sense for revenge against Changdragupta too? He sits on our lands, Persia and Hindustan are ours by Eternal Right!
>>195129
>only 30 years
Good thing - everyone (nearly) still remembers our royal families absolute right to rule.
>>
>>195143
sure you can, nothing's stopping you.
>>
We are probably the most revanchist pre-nationalism Empire to ever exist.
>>
>>195312
>most revanchist
>Persian genocide
Really? :)
The diceless gameplay sure does lead to some revenge-filled decisions.
>>
come on guys, we're close to an agreement here.
>>

This and HEAVY funding into infrastructure.

We can't collapse into anarchy every IRL and in-game Saturday.
>>
>>195143
Supporting going full nationalism and claiming muh rightful clay by raping Changdragupta
>>
>>195704
>>195726
Yes! We are the bulwark against the darkness of barbarism.
Punish the pretender Changdragupta and build up our lands so that all see our glory!

The Sarsarrum and his mighty peasant Army continue their relentless reconquest of the Empire.

several new statues are erected around the Empire, using funds of the personal coffers of the Sarsarrum. These statues have all kinds of shapes, but all have one thing in common : a message engraved at the bottom, proclaiming the Empire to be eternal.

In these proclamations, the term "Tarulitum" (literally: Returning Victory) was first coined and describes the rampant desire of our people to be independent and also dominate our neighbors. The Idea that even in the face of Barbarism, and amidst an age of Darkness, Civilization will always shine through and prevail.

With this idea of Tarulitum present among the peasant army, the Sarsarrum uses it to his advantage and expand the Empire like no one before him.

He invades the Ptolemaians to reclaim Egypt for the Empire, followed by an invasion of Antigon, Bythinia, Paphlagonia, a small Bedouin Kingdom called Nabatea, Armenia, Sarmatia and Crete, all of this to reclaim the Empire.

We loot countless greek cities and claim their riches, to fund building projects in the Empire for a better infrastructure.

However despite all of our conquests, there is one enemy left.

Changdragupta - Maharaja of Maurya

Not only does he occupy Persia, but Hinnunaki as well.
To completely remove this threat from the borders of the Empire, we only have 1 choice.
We have to conquer all of Hindustan.
Leave him no place to run.

Our peasant Army is the largest the world has ever known, nothing can stop it, not even the Hindustani War Elephants.

It took us a few years, but we managed to conquer all of Maurya and effectively all of Hindustan, with the small exception of some barbarians to the South, who are not particularly fond of Changdragupta.

He may have fled, but wherever he went, he won't be welcome there.

Our Glorious Empire is restored with more land and riches than ever before!

What is this glorious Sarsarrum's name?

>What is this glorious Sarsarrum's name?
Karna (name of a Hindu hero warrior)

The Empire of Man: Build more cities. India seems to be quite empty. Integrate those war elephant into our armies. Name the new cities for war heroes - and for our Sarsarrum: #name, Nava (sanskrit for new) #name, etc.
>>
>>199122
>Our peasant Army is the largest the world has ever known
Promote soldiers based on merit, not heritage - and in one fell swoop we cut the power of former nobles and gain more for the royal family.
>>
>>199136
And vassalize the tribes in southern Hindustan. People can be with us or against us - but not neutral.
>>
>>199314
it's not actually that empty, I just didn't take the time yet to enter all the new cities.
They will come together with new colonies.
>>
>>199317
We're doing both tho, we've had a conscript army until Gilgaram , who then changed it to a nobility based army.
His son then changed it back to conscripts, but kept the Knight-class intact to always have Elite soldiers available.
>>
>>199357
Great!
>>199362
Nice! Knights on hippos and elephants?
>>
>>199427
Hippos and Camels
We haven't had Elephants long and consistent enough to use them.
Though in due time we will be able to ride Horses, since all of our enemies are doing it.
>>
We now rule just under 7% of the world. 10 Million Kilometers, or just about.
>>
>>199599
No, wait, that should be 13.5 Million Kilometers, around 9% of the planet's landmass. More than Qing China, but not more than Yuan China. That would put us at 7th largest empire to have ever existed.
>>
>>199604
Oh nice. thanks for the stats m8.
though I did the math and we are SLIGHTLY below 13.5
you have to consider that we don't own thrace.

we should be around 13.1 - 13.3
so still 7th largest.

Also here's the kicker, according to the % of world population in Persia and Maurya at their height, we are now , for real , the Empire of Mankind , with over 78% of the world population being under imperial control.

Additionally, with the conquest of Alexander over, we no longer have to be conquered by anyone.
We will still lose land here and there, primarily because of Rome and the Arabs, but the Empire will never be wiped out again at this point , at least no mandatory wipes.
>>
any case lads, the thread saged so I'll start a new one with the next update.
