In the late seventies through the early nineties, drug violence in South America only continued to escalate. A successful revolution by the IRA in Ireland encouraged similar revolts in central Africa that devolved into decades-long civil wars, and a USSR faction in the Russian government. Human trafficking for both the organ and the sex trades exploded between south-east Asia and eastern Europe. In the face of such chaos, government run militaries and agencies were too caught up in red tape to be effective in combatting these threats. Traditional armies abdicated their throne as international super-powers, and turned it over to the world of private military contractors.

Thirty years later, the private military industry is a widely accepted fact of life, a necessary evil for the security of the world. While many people in the civilized world resent these men for what they represent, they are also aware that they need them, lest the world fall into the hellscape that it was once again.

You are Jan Kowalski, a Polish special forces operator turned private military contractor. In return for cash and other liquid currency, you, and men like you go places national militaries can’t, and that local police forces won’t.

You only remember that you pissed some guards cause you trespass some private property for shits and giggles with your friends and now you're here. Although this isn't a prank your friends pulling now but you are alone and around you is big walls standing so high it's probably impossible to climb that high.

You can only see one exit but you think you need to get ready for something.

You are Tim Helium, a person with crippling social anxiety, interacting with people in meatspace is an almost debilitating experience for you. You would have just locked yourself in a room and wasted your life on the net if your parents hadn't finally kicked you out of the house.

Fortunately you found out that you could mitigate anxiety by wearing a space suit and interacting with people using a Byowear interaction module. This put enough separation between you and the outside world for you to feel safe(ish).

You decide to become a space adventurer since they spend most of the time out in frontier space where it's not unusual for people to wear space suits constantly as a safety precaution.

So here you are fresh off the shuttle at Karkand station out in the galactic rim. The place is bustling with activity, people from all walks of humanity and even some aliens can be seen moving around the landing deck. You take in a deep breathe through your suit filters and gag. Who would have thought opportunity smelled like alien sweat and recycled air...

You barely have any credits to your name so you'll need to get yourself a job.

After getting bogged down in the swamp and losing your way, you have found yourself lost in a forest with only a small company of dwarven riflemen and NO ingredients

Now, the dwarves and you traveled far and met with a tribe of local wild beast men and they demand compensation for showing you the way home.

And that compensation is food, we got 2 irl hours to make them a feast or we are going to be the feast

After a close call with a policeman about a drug-filled parcel, you learn from a receptionist about the various districts in the luxury establishment—oddly-named "Resorcinol". You take a brief detour in the Transport District before going to the Red Light District (via drilling the floor) where you met Nicotine, a sultry woman and head of this district. After touring the location a bit you used your REPAIR MODULE to completely reconstruct your suit into a more open attire. Unfortunately your nose bled for a bit due to atmospheric unfamiliarity so Nicotine sent you upwards to recover. You returned to the Transport District and took the opportunity to return to the tribespeople and the PORTHOLE you left in the moat.
