You decide to tell her about the different rebel groups. "The War Hogs vary in hostility. Some of them will attack outsiders on sight. Just make sure that you don't talk about anything that would make you look like you're affiliated with the military or the far right. They tend to be more tolerant of foreigners than the Mimayiks. The Mimayiks are pretty nationalistic but there is not enough of them to make that much of a difference. What you want to be careful of is the Yhmirians. They will kill you if they even have a thought that you might not be a worshipper of Yhmir. Just keep your head and go with whatever they say. Ideally, just try to avoid them." You finish. She appears to be taking mental notes.

Two years after the Great War, Germany is humbled down to ruins; businesses went bankrupt, husbands lost their jobs, and inflation became worse than ever.

HOW TO PARTICPATE: Suggest for something Keira to do- every post I make, I'll give you options but you can write in to be crafty whenever you want, doesn't really matter, and roll 1d20 to see if it's the action picked or how well she does. 1's are taken into account but 20's will always cancel them out. This is basically something you see of every MS paint adventure only here and quicker.

Premise:

You are Keira, a 25 year old female Sandslash who decided that she want to do something in her life other than drinking whiskey at a bar all night and working at a dock all day. After a trip over the sea, you've ended up here in the port city of St. Valders and have met your former "colleague" and good friend, Jela, a rather charming young Sneasel who has a knack for exploring.

When we last left off, you were still talking to her:

“So what are you doing here in St. Valders?” she asks you, standing behind her stall in the rather crowded market square. You are bumped into a few times but are not fazed.

“Wanted a new life. Decided here was the best place to start.” you tell her. She looks at you for what seems to be an eternity, taking in your current appearance before asking you a question.

“So what will you do now? You could always stay with me if things don’t go right.” she gestures to the stall, piled onto with books all over.

"I was thinking of joining the Royal Guard around here. But that can change."

"Of course it can! While you decide, wanna make some coin!?" Jela asks you, giving you a sly catty smile. You know this smile, she makes this when she wants something and doesn't really want to pay for it.

"Let me guess. You want me to... 'get' something, right?"

"Heck yeah! Nothing big, just a book I'm looking to procure for myself. It's called, "Legends of the Dragons". It talks about the gods themselves and all that. I want to look at it myself. Find it, get it and 'll pay your for it!"

What will you do?

A one's a one, even if its the only roll

"Jela, I'm past that- you and me both I hope."

"Haha! Kira! I know you so well- you always had cold feet at the before every job! Come on, you know you can do it!"

"Bu-"

"And besides, I'll even throw in a couple of my books in for free if ya do it. I can't wait to read that book."

It seems Jela isn't going to listen to reason about why stealing isn't your thing anymore so it seems your going to need that book, any means necessary. You don't want to anger the only person who knows you in this city- especially someone your friends with.

Where should you look for the book?

Surely she must have some sort of inkling about where we could find a copy. See if she can give us something to help us start with, otherwise see if you can find some sort of specialty shop.

It's always raining on Gronneo Island. You fucking hate the rain.
You lie on your bumpy cot in your tiny cell in Gronneo Island Prison, trying to fall asleep through the sound of the rain pounding on the window. Suddenly, the PA crackles to life and you become wide awake.

"ss.sss...To all the prisoners, there is something loose ...ss.. the compound ..s..s.sss.. the guards. It's ..ss.ss.. escape .. s..s you can...ss...ss....."

After a moment of silence, a loud clunk sounds and all the doors are unlocked. You peer out to see the prisoners milling out of their cells confused.

What do you do?

I'm going to try a new format of quest, no voting or random gets. Every action will take effect, though you'll have to face the consequences.

NameFagging is encouraged, first time post what your prisoner in here for, what they do in prison, and what they want to do if they ever get out. Get a bonus to rolls for related actions, remember to mention why you get a bonus.
Also bonus for good images and write faggotry.

>I'm going to try a new format of quest
A. This has been done before.
B. It's NOT a quest format. Free form RP =/= Quest.

You're free to find a site/board that not only values, but also support free form RP. /qst/ is not for you. Have a good day.

Sorry, f I didn't explain this correctly, everyone is a different prisoner, anons act for the whole group
>>
>>260959
Okay, better explanation:
You're a group of prisoners just freed for some reason.

Every post will take effect. If it's really stupid, fewer prisoners do it. If it makes sense, more people will do it. You're a mob, some people are going to do stupid things.
If many posters agree, all the prisoners will do it. If you make a character, you get a bonus to actions.

"Well... Yeah... He is my friend even if he does stupid... questionable things sometimes." You take a deep breath, hoping that Fujiko would understand you. "Fujiko... Let's try not to kill my friends okay?"

Fujiko starts to look a bit sorry. "But... But Ooji tried to have his way with me..."

"Eh? What do you mean?" From Ooji's version of the story it made it seem like he was the one that was kidnapped. The victim in all of this.

"Well... They invited me to karaoke that one day and I thought I'd go to get to know your friends better. To try and understand them..." From here the story Fujiko and Ooji tell you were the same. However it deviates after Fujiko invites Ooji inside her house. "I wanted to invite him to try and get information about you a bit more. To give you a nice surprise." She starts listing off things she wanted to get. "Like when your birthday is... What your favourite food is... What you like as a gift..." Then she looks at Ooji with disgust. "Then he tried to drug me."

"Y-You tried to drug her?!" You look at Ooji.

"He tried to make me fall asleep by putting a pill in my tea. Even after I trusted him..."

"No! Absolutely not! You have to believe me!" Ooji begs you to believe him. "She is a devil that will say anything to tempt you!"

"It doesn't scare me." You say, using your sleeve to wipe away the tears. The words come so easy, soft and calmly.

"Look like...a cre-"

Before he can finish his sentence you hug Lawrence against your chest, your hand coming up to mess with his hair again. You doubt that you would be this bold while sober, but right now you want to do anything to reassure him.

"Shh shh. You don't look like a creep." You don't mean for your words to come out so patronizing, but it's a little too difficult to speak the way you want to. Right now your only concern is to make sure he's okay, even if that involves coddling.

"Creeps don't look like you. You're too um...nice looking. What's the right word...pretty. No wait, you're a man. Uh...handsome, that's the word. You're handsome and this..." You draw your finger lightly above his cheek, avoiding the stitches. "Just makes you look more like...um, totally bad-ass. Like the type of guy that beats up creeps. That's good. You're good. You're my good, handsome guy."

You can't help your rambling, just as you can't help the yawn that escapes from your mouth.

"Um...hold on." Letting him go and standing, you pick up one of the big blankets and toss it over his body. You crawl in and join him underneath, pushing him enough to encourage Lawrence to lay back. "Sleepy, sorry. Um...where was I..."

You determine what you should say next, laying on your side and reaching out to hold Lawrence against you again, your hand running the nape of his neck.

"Um...why'd you say you deserved this?" You think over what he had been saying earlier, this statement sticking out.

"Bad man...am bad...man-" Lawrence's voice is choking up as he speaks and you gently shush him again.

"Is okay, you can tell me later if you want. Don't push yourself." You reach over and flip off the flashlight, throwing the two of you into the dark.

"Will stay with you. Um, if you don't mind." There's no answer, but you aren't being pushed away either. You decide to take it as a 'yes', allowing yourself to settle down and relax.

The floating feeling, the buzz, the warmth...all of it is there.

You enjoy these pleasant feelings, your eyes closing as you focus on just them.

"No pushing me away." You say, not completely sure if you're awake or not. "Let me stay with you."

...

The low sound of knocking wakes you up, over from the door. You open your eyes halfway, trying to remember where you are. The feeling of your fingertips against short hair reminds you soon enough, Lawrence much too exhausted to move from where you put him. The room has a minute amount of light pushing in from the window, early morning then.

"I'll get it." You say to sleeping ears, pushing yourself away and moving on to tired legs. The knocking makes another round as you approach the door, peering through the peephole.

[1/3]
>>
>>258292
You open the door to greet Sam, who looks exhausted himself. There's a moment of confusion when he sees you at the door, the old man taking a moment to make sure he's at the right door.

"Lawrence is inside, right?" He asks, still doubting he's in the right place.

"Mhm. I was um, worried about him so I stayed with him." You trip on yours words a little, grogginess and buzzing making your head somewhat of a mess. There's a look of something on Sam's face when you say this, apprehension maybe? It's gone far too quickly before you can be sure though.

"I see, and he's sleeping well enough?"

"Mhm, like a big baby."

"Hm. And what about you? How are you feeling?"

You haven't noticed any cramping, nothing at all like yesterday.

"Fine, I feel fine. I um...should be all done now with that, right?"

"Yes, you should be. Give it a week or so and we can run you through another test to be safe, but please think of this as a success for now." You nod at this, yawning again. "You may experience some spotting for a few days, even a week or two. That's normal, but if you feel anything abnormal with your body let me know right away."

"Yes sir."

"And ah...please make sure Lawrence lets me check up on him later. I need to make sure his stitches are going to hold."

"I will, I promise."

Sam looks back past you, towards where Lawrence is still asleep. You can tell he's thinking, but you have no clue what about.

"Ah, before I leave..." Sam hands you the notebook, the cover dirty and drying from where it had gotten wet. "I figured he'll be wanting this back."

You lock the door once Sam leaves, carrying the book back and setting it on the counter. Crawling back under the covers you revel in the warmth once again, and though you try to you're unable to fall back asleep. You contend yourself with cuddling again, enjoying the fact that you can do it. It's a big strange, thinking about how you feel comfortable with being close to a man. Maybe not a man, but Lawrence at least.

More light pushes through to the room, your eyes adjusting accordingly. You take the time to study Lawrence's sleeping face, looking over his wounds at the same time. They seem to be healing as expected from you, though it has only been a few hours. His cheek is bit different, but that's to be expected. You can't help but bring a finger up to trace just above the jagged cut. The twisted black knots holding everything together contrasts harshly against his white skin, angry red bumps outlining either side. It may heal quickly, but you doubt that it will heal pretty. There's going to be a large scar there forever, no matter how much you try to help. It may be smart to go over his cheek again later though.

You don't care though, his face could be an absolute mess but so long as he's alive you don't care. Your finger traces down his face and down his neck, going over the white scars lacing his neck. If you had been there when this happened...would Lawrence's voice be better?
[2/3]
>>
>>258293
How old was he when this happened? Sixteen, if you remember correctly. It takes a couple tries, but you manage to do the math in your head. You would have been three years old when this happened to him. It's a bit of a funny image, thinking about baby you attacking a sixteen year old boy's neck.

You can't help but think about what it would be like if you were closer to his age though. Is fourteen years a big difference between people? Maybe it is...what if you were older though? Is it a huge deal for adults? You hope not...but then how long do you have to wait for it to be okay? Would he be willing to wait for you to grow up...

Even with all the pleasant feelings your mind wracks over this. It's too complicated for you to fully understand though...hopefully Lawrence will have the answers you don't.

...

You must have dozed off, as you wake up to the sound of rushing water in the bathroom. Right away you can notice all the space you have in the blankets, running your hand over where Lawrence was. It's still warm from his body, and you can't help but roll over to it. Sounds like he's showering, you want to try and stay awake for when he comes ou-

The water suddenly turns off and the door swings open. Lawrence looks frustrated and dry, taking careful steps as he walks. As he sits down there's a flash of pain on his face, his hand coming up to grab his side.

"Didn't shower?" You ask, rolling over to your stomach to look at him.

"Too sore...can't lift...arms."

You know what that's like. There's been times when you would go out climbing or playing too hard and it felt like your arms were going to fall off the next day. From the looks of it though it's not the only thing in pain for him.

"Sam says you should see him, you need to do that."

"Will...do later. Promise." Lawrence is bent over slightly, still holding his side. You can see easily in the light all the dark hair that covers his body, though you feel bad for looking. You toss him his undershirt, sitting up while you do.

It's a huge struggle for him, but Lawrence manages to get the shirt one. Just from the look of pain on his face you can understand why he doesn't want to push himself to shower.

"Are you hungry?"

"No...just...tired."

"Do you want to sleep again? It might be good for you."

"Later."

You puff your cheek at his denial of your suggestions. If you had to guess it's probably because he doesn't want to see anyone else yet.

Huddling yourself from the cold air, you can guess by the chill and the light outside that it's still early morning, probably around 7:30.

What do you want to do?

It takes a few moments for you to parse Cassilda's request, but when you do, you're still confused.

“I'm sorry, what?”, you ask.

“I said... How about being in charge of the monster brigade?”.

“We have a monster brigade?”.

Cassilda pauses, tightening her lips for a moment, “Well, no, not really. Not officially. We have enough members to make one, though. Unofficially. We have centaurs, we have a minotaur, we have a harpy who's already in active service... If we get an arachne and you find...”, she makes a vague gesture with her hand, “... Something...”.

You're beginning to get the gist of it, but it's still concerning that this (presumably) distinguished military officer is offering you such an important position considering your credentials. Or rather, the lack thereof. “You do realize I have zero military experience, right?”.

“That's not necessary”, she smiles brightly, pulling her ankles closer as she sits cross-legged, her fluffy tails fanning out, “Think of yourself as a community manager”.

A cold shiver runs down your spine and to the tip of your tail, and despite the heat you immediately feel goosebumps on your skin. You can't quite understand why but these two words scare you more than they have any reason to, “That's an interesting... Offer”.

“It's not an offer”, she keeps smiling, “It's what my help will cost you. You want to save your arachne friend? I can take care of that, but you'll have to do something for me. Pay back the favour. This is how”.

Bryld gives you a dubious look, her facial expression is part tense and part contorted in bewilderment. She doesn't say anything, especially not in front of Cassilda, but she is clearly sniffing something strange in all this scenario. Not that you needed any help in that, but it's still good to know that she, too, feels that something is off.

“But why a monster brigade?”, you can't help but wonder.

“Well, strictly speaking, we are not... How to put it... Fully operational”, she explains, “The colonists came way too early, it's like someone was in a hurry to re-establish a colony without the due time it would take to secure the land first. As it stands, we don't have enough personnel at hand to both protect the population and complete our conquest, and we're still too busy organizing everyone to have time to spare to coordinate adventurers and whatnot”.

She gives you a good look and smiles, “But since you have a magnetic personality and care about those... Interesting fellows, why not take advantage of it? Besides, monsters have skills that we ordinary humans don't, I'm sure they will come in handy”. She lets a few moments pass, then hops down from the table and stares up at you, hands on her hips and a confident expression. And damn, she's pretty short despite her perky ears, “So, what do you say?”.

>”I agree”.
>”I can't do that”.
>”I'll find the arachne myself”.
>”I need some time to think”.

The bell rings on your alarm clock and you hastily slap your wake-up call until it stops. Rubbing your eyes and propping yourself up, you remember all the bullshit you went through last night. Let's see...

Well you got off your first shift at a garbage construction job.

You got a sub from Vinny's, and that was probably the highlight of yesterday.

You got jumped in an alleyway, and your past caught up to you. Gotta come up with the money...

Shit, you look down and remember what happened to your arm. But you also remember Poole.

Ugh, what a shitty night. You pull yourself up out of bed, aching in places you never knew ached and on the way to the bathroom you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror...

*****

[THE SYSTEM]

STATS:

FORCE: +1
The slam behind your dunks. It's a force behind every hit you lay down. In a roll that is a straight up punch, this helps you.

ENDURANCE: 0
The stat is general, but often area specific attacks will lend to focused crushing of a certain body part. Overall, it's represented by the number above, and at the start of fights it is what any uninjured body parts begin at. This is a mod on bracing for impact.

EVASION: +1
This is the way you get out of taking a punch. A full dodge on success, but you eat shit otherwise. This also doubles for things that might need some tact or positional assistance.

SPEED: 25
This decides how quickly you recoil as well as how often you punch. Note that whiffing a punch means you have to recollect yourself, so this can definitely help.

STAMINA: ???
Last is your stamina, the ability for you to get back up after getting floored. This is a hidden stat until you are in a dire situation.

You look a little fucked up. A few scratches here and there don't say much, but the bandaged right forearm and wrist tell a whole story. You hear the television is on in the other room. Welcome to The Island. Let’s hope you last longer this time.
I’m IslandBro, and this One-shot Quest is a rogue-like, which means I fully expect you to die before making any sort of progress. Read the accompanying menu, and follow the instructions to pick the tools for your survival and the instruments of your demise. A previous visitor has already selected the crossed out options; those are still on the island, and you can find them, but they owe you nothing.
You will wake up on the Island in 30 mins with what you have brought and a metallic collar fused to your neck.
The Island is not a safe place and it’s all down to chance; for every action, roll a 2d10, the first to determine whose choice dominates, the second your success in said choice, anything above a 5 will have varying positive outcomes, 5 and below will mean failure of varying magnitudes. Three failures in a row will mean instant death.
If you die, you die; I stop the quest until I can next be bothered to summon another mortal. No second chances. No second-guessing. It’s go time.

A low smog seems to hang in the air - through the flickering glowlights, the mist seems heavy and reflective, almost iridescent. In the gloom of the Carcerum underhive, the smog is the only protection that the dregs know. It carries the scents of distant food, hides the hivers from secret onlookers, and only occassionally irritates the skin and eyes. The four of you – Rab, Fraq, Finial, and Sen – have learned to love that mist like a distant father. Its presence was comforting.- homey, even. The mist seemed to promise an easy meal every night, but you all knew that that was a pleasant lie. The four of you trudged collectively though the mists every night, and slept through the days – better to avoid the daycrowds in a hungry year, like this one. Better to scavenge amongst the dead after one ganger shooting or another – the dead don't mind when you eat them.
You were all much smaller when you started to nightscrounge in the Broken Ends – but you four had done well so far. There was a tradition – at the end of each night's scavenging run, Finial would solemnly cross his hands into an eagle-shape and say, "Not eaten. Not stabbed. Not dead yet. A good night." And the three of you would nod silently, earnest in the prayer. The four of you were only boys, but you had seen how fast the Broken Ends can shred someone into pieces.
Tonight, only three of you had met up so far in the usual spot before the scavenging trip into the darker corners of the underhive – an unobtrusive hole in the rockcrete between two sparking glowlights. The three of you eye each other warily in the gloom while you wait for Sen to arrive.

>Who do you choose to play, /tg/? I can provide character sheets on request

>Rab, with pale skin and white hair. Ambidextrous and fastest with a knive
>Finial, with brown skin and blue eyes – the brightest of you, always thinking outside the box - or willing to crush it with his club.
>Fraq, with black skin and hair, unluckier than some, he's a great all-rounder, with a talent for improvised weaponry.

No, no - Fraq has only one Fate Point, but you'll be able to increase this amount through other means.

I'm using the 40k RPG system.

You are Hank Dalton. On the last episode of The Last Grease Monkey, you:
>Killed some more road pirates, getting shot in the leg in the process
>Saw some freaky shit happen with the coyote corpses from back in Thread #3, also a dude got murdered and scalped
>Consulted Chief and found out that there's not just a Wendigo but fucking Skinwalkers
>Got some assistance from the Sheriff's Department consisting two Deputies driving a Chevy Blazer with an M60 machine gun mounted in the back.
>Also you're driving Jim's 65 Riviera right now since your left leg can't handle working a clutch right now.
----------

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3hsCiGS9Uc

Once you hit the highway you drop the hammer. The Nailhead engine doesn't rev high like your 427 Chevy but the massive torque makes the Riviera move like a much lighter car. The Blazer gets up alongside you at around 70 mph, Deputy Hawkins honks a couple times and guns it. He gains a fender on you and keeps it there for far longer than he should as you climb to 80. At 90 you finally start to pass him, but god damn that thing is too fast for such a heavy truck.

"C'mon Black Dog," says Jim over the CB, "You're embarrassing me!"

You grin and pick your mic up. "It's your piece o' shit car, Lizard King."

Jim starts to respond but Hawkins cuts him off. "Howdy there, this is Pork Chop, we gonna keep on poontangin' around or we gonna kill us some savages?"

You settle down to a slower pace as you get into the hills. You won't have much daylight left and these fucking road pirates could be lurking around every corner. Hawkins pulls ahead, makes sense considering Garcia's firepower advantage.

"Man," says Zoe, "This car sure is comfy." She caresses her seat. "I mean these seats feel like BarcaLoungers. I could sleep in here."

You laugh. "Christ, have you never smoked pot before?"

Zoe's eyes widen. "Wait, is that what was in-"

You're interrupted by the rattle of an M60 firing up ahead. "Son of a BITCH!" shouts Hawkins. "I'm hit! Fuckin- Gurk..." Gurgling and Garcia's shouts of panic are drowned out by a new broadcast consisting of a raspy voice chanting in a tongue you've never heard but suspect to be Navajo. You shut it off.

"Hit with what?" you ask. The answer comes immediately as an arrow bounces off your hood. Another embeds itself in the windshield right in front of your face, the head looks really fucking weird. Like...bone or something. You can't see the shooter. The Blazer veers off into the left lane, overcorrects to the left, pulls off into the sand and just barely manages to stop. Jim and Chief make it through relatively unscathed.

A) Pull over, try and help Hawkins and Garcia
B) Keep going to the ranch

Let's try and figure out which direction those arrows came from, so that we know which way our bullets are going.

Where we left off…

For the days following your meeting with Ku-Lung, you decided to take the time to learn the spell Blinding Light. It could be very useful, you figure.

However, Ku-Lung’s message to you has stirred a bit of a dilemma. To your knowledge, he has not spoken to Vakith about this, and you’re certain he hasn’t spoken to Hope. It may be worth it to tell them, to give them fair warning about the fact that their fate may very well belong to the Shōlong. On the other hand, it may just worry them needlessly. After all, doesn’t it make sense to keep fighting the Contagion anyways? Perhaps Ku-Lung may never even have to call upon you.

>You should tell the party.
>You should keep it to yourself for now.

>You should tell the party.
Can't see a good reason not to.

>tell the party
Try to "chosen one" it up a little bit too

I would like to know if the rest of the posters of /qst/ would agree with changing the 72 hour autosage to a 24 hour no-OP-post autosage or just with getting rid of it altogether.

Currently, the 72 hour post limit only serves to make QMs make more threads than necessary, while my solution would kill dead threads while leaving good threads to make it to bump-limit.
>But some QMs change computers!
And it's likely that they will be able to make it back to the computer they started the quest on and reset the autosage timer before the thread dies.
Any more arguments?
Who else supports this?
Mods, please do not delete this thread on account of it not being a quest. I think it is important for us to express if we would like any changes to our board.

You must have missed the memo. Mods don't care about this board. That's why there's so many non-quest threads and /b/-tier games going on.

Just being on the safe side.

I disagree.
you need at least 36 hours or more.
If you play regularly at the same time every day, ending early, then starting late the next day would wipe the thread.
