Is he actually talented or just a meme?
>>2942769
He's not even a meme, this guy is just insignificant beyond YouTube.
Also OP you'll probably garner more replies for this in /tv/. More people will probably know who he is there too
Meth rekd Sean Penn, damn.
>>2942769
Not even /p/ related, but yeah he's good, he's pretty much bad at everything about filmmaking except editing which is so good that it makes up for everything else, his videos that he made before clogging were really interesting but I wouldn't say he's a meme

>starts with a single piano note and an immediate fade to black
Good idea anon, lets the audience know not to get their hopes up.
holy shit that's trash
choppy slomos, framerate changes every shot
everything looks dull and blown out as fuck
how do you even get footage that unsteady out of a phantom 4
Meh at best, bad at worst.
Opening shot where you had the car coming towards the camera with the blacking out was awful and didn't work at all. There are two easy ways to pull that off, one being with various shots of the car from all angles, maybe close ups and slowly start to reveal what the vehicle is, or to have a much longer road and better angle, where the car visibly passes long distances in between shots. It was laughable here.
Your playback FPS and shooting speed were completely fucked. Learn to frame rates.
White car extremely overexposed in multiple shots.
Same tired and used unimaginative drone shots. If you're going to do this, I would recommend getting an Osmo and at least showing off the car a bit more, not just the exact same flying over the car on the same road over and over again shots.
And what's with that Hans Zimmer wannabe music?
Good job on actually shooting something instead of sitting on your ass though. Practice different shots with some euroshit beater before moving up to Italian trash.
do you use it often?
i was talking with a fellow photographer and he told me he uses clone stamp alot to remove things he doesnt want then i realized that i have never used it in my photos. i'm ding it wrong?
>>2941833
Healing blends based on the surroundings, clone doesn't.
Any change near the edge of a color/value has to use clone, or healing will smudge the colors/values and ruin the photo.
So yes, you don't know how to edit for shit if you've never touched clone stamp.
>do you use it often?
Pretty much every second photo. Its useful for adjusting skin tones when combined with darken/lighten mode.

Sony a6300 vs Canon 80D, just recently started liking photography and want something to last me a couple years, could anyone tell me their opinion between these 2 cameras?
>>2939298
get the a6300.
sell kit lens and get something like 35mm f1.8 or the 20mm f2.8 pancake.
if you want zoom, the older 18-55mm kit is way better or zeiss 16-70mm f4.

Dear /p/, I'm working on a project to digitise old family motion picture film (both Super 8 and regular 8mm). For this I use my grandfather's old projector, which can be switched between S8 and 8mm. It has an attached lens which can be swiveled away, so there's nothing in front of the actual 8mm film except the film gate. It is supposed to then project on a Raspberry Pi camera attached to a Raspberry Pi of course. This takes an image every time a switch is pressed, something which is achieved by two contacts attached to a cog which makes one full rotation and thus one contact per frame, synchronising the camera to the film. A Python program then writes the image to an external HDD. I replaced the original light bulb (some high powered halogen lamp) with a high powered LED, because the slow speed necessary for capturing the images would otherwise burn/melt the film. All this is done (at least in an experimental setup), except the focus. I need the original image (height: 4,0mm) to be shrunk to an image height of 2,5mm. What would be the best way to do this? I have been struggling with this project for some time now and my aunt is getting pissy because she wants to relive her youth in the colonies or something, which happens to be captured on these films. I have tried calculating with image distance and focal lengths but either I'm really not seeing something obvious, or I made a mistake, because I can't get a sharp image that is smaller than the original. I figured /p/ would know a thing or two about lenses, so maybe someone here can help me.
>>2935590
So the sensor doesn't have a lens of its own, it's just a naked sensor?
>>2935590
>I can't get a sharp image that is smaller than the original.
But you can get a sharp image that is too large?
If so, simply increase the distance between the film and the lens and then shorten the distance between the lens and the sensor until it's in focus again.
>>2935604
Well, both. It has a small lens but it can be taken off carefully (which is what I plan to do as I suspect it is easier and will lead to better image quality).
>>2935606
Yes, the smallest I managed to get is 9mm in height. I tried what you suggested, but this only leads to a weird blur. I'll make some pictures to illustrate, brb
The cannon option alone is $750 with just the kit lense, why is it so much cheaper?
Also is this a good deal?
>>2944861
Never buy such combo shit. Also its used.
>>2944861
No because bundles include a lot of garbage and shit they can't sell on it's own.
Hey guys, could use some advice.
So I have been trying to self teach myself all of shit shit about cameras, photography, etc and I am actually starting to make a bit of headway on it, my ultimate goal is film making- I know I know, who the fuck does this guy think he is- its cool I get it.
Anyway, I want to start filming footage so that I can learn how to edit and do stuff in post but I only have a budget of about $1200 and dont want to throw it all away at the camera and lens alone. With so many cameras in the market its been pretty hard to narrow it down but I think ive come to the conclusion that the Cannon EOS 700D with an 18-135mm lens would be a good starting place.
Do you think that this is a good choice? Ive seen impressive footage- after post of course- with the 700D as that is something that matters to me allot, image quality, resolution, colors etc. I know using a DSLR I am a bit limited but its a brave new world in the film game.
Thoughts? Thanks everyone, I hope you are all having a good october.

The 18-135 will not be a great lens, it's a kit lens that covers a broad range of field of views. Do you know that you need that much zoom? If not I would recommend investing in a nice prime instead. You can probably get a prime with a larger aperture (more light and control of depth of field) and for video you might want a 28mm or 50mm equivalent to learn with (~18mm or ~35mm).
>>2944466
Would you recommend getting a cannon 60d or 70d for full frame or would a 700 still be okay?
>>2944477
Don't get a full frame camera
get the 700d and those 28mm and 50mm primes
can we upload high res images yet, I haven't been here for years

No, we're still stuck in 2003 around these parts.

What is the relationship between a stop change in exposure to shutter speed? I was reading a tutorial on long exposure night photography and someone mentioned that if a 30" exposure is one stop too dark, you should shoot for 60" instead. Is it safe to assume double/half the shutter speed results in one less stop/one more stop for exposure?

>>2944392
Yes, that's correct. 1 stop increase in shutter speed = 2x the previous speed. Same for ISO. For aperture the relationship is sqrt(2) or about 1.4
>>2944395
Is there an actual formula I can use? Say I want to take a 65" photo?
>>2944403
each stop down is halving, each stop up is doubling.
Logarithms are used to solve y=2^x, but few people can do it without a calculator if the numbers aren't clean.
65 seconds from 30 seconds is 2.17 times, which is about 2^1.1, so 1.1 stops increase.
On a simple calc where I need an identity to change log10 into log2, I type (log 65/30) / (log 2) = 1.11548. That's the exact number of stops. A fancier calculator might have a log base-n without having to convert.
If you reverse the 30/65, now it's -1.11548, which tells you that many stops down instead of up.
