Just bought my first dslr today - christ, i didn't realize they were so loud. How am I going to take photos now without anyone around noticing? :-/
Do you often find the sound to be awkward when you're out in public? I don't think I can do it, bros..

I assume you got a Nikon. Should've went with a Pentax with their quiet shutter and creamy mirror flap sound.

Whats the best way to make money off your photos
Besides doing wedding photography is there any way to make a good profit , I hear some people sell for Stock but I dont know how much you actually make doing that
I am saving up like $6000 for some new gear but thats a lot of money when I could pay off bills or something instead, would be nice if I could make the gear pay for itself somehow

honestly? sell your camera.
do you like half frame cameras
have you used one before\
how do you think they compare to full frame cameras? for instance the pen F vs a full frame slr, or a half-frame compact vs the rollei 35
i have a real love for half frame cameras so id like to discuss them with you
>>2930634
>how do you think they compare to full frame cameras?
They are half of those
>>2930634
I heard the Pen F is phenomenal, but for some reason, I kind of hate having no metering built in...
>>2930634
>do you like half frame cameras
i love them.
>have you used one before\
yes i have. i have 3 half frame cameras.
>how do you think they compare to full frame cameras? for instance the pen F vs a full frame slr, or a half-frame compact vs the rollei 35
my ff cameras get scarce to no use. my half frames get all the attention. double amount of photos means total fun.
anybody else miss the /p/lane to Iceland?
>>2946252
ill make some scale models of the main touristic attractions on iceland, including prometheus waterfalls and meme horses, then will shoot it on medium format macro. no way im paying for that expensive as fuck trip.
>>2946252
Never wanted to go, for the past decade it's been the photographer destination. I mainly just don't like colder climates, I'm more interested in traveling to west Africa or Latin America
It's either Japan or Iceland it seems.
What does /p/ think about bridge cameras?

Depends how many zooms it has.
If it has, say, 50 zooms, I'd say it's pretty good. If it has 100 or more, I'd show it off as much as possible. Look for digital zooms. Digital is the best!
Also, look for how far the cylinder thing moves in and out. If it moves out A LOT, then that's good!
:)
tfw my first camera was a bridge camera that shot RAW and manual.
It was a bleedin' hero desu
do any of you guys have any tips for saving up to buy a new camera , i currently own a canon eos 20d but its pretty old and its secondhand
>>2945870
You get a bunch of money into a bank account or in your savings wallet at home, and you wait until it's enough to buy what is presumably an entry-level to midrange MILC/DSLR with a decent lens while still paying your bills.

My tip is never buy any camera gear you can't pay out of pocket.
Hey guys, could use some advice here.
I want to make films very very very badly, I spend most of my day educating myself on digital cinematography and cameras. Currently I do not have a very big budget, say $1500, and I do not want to spend all of my money right out the gate. However, in a few months I will have saved up around $2200 for filmmaking gear and will probably buy a second hand GH4. Until then I am considering buying a shitty canon EOS 700d for the sense of practice and learning first hand about cameras and video editing/color correction.
I would buy one for around $494 but I plan on selling it at the end of December on ebay for probably around $300 or $350, so not a huge net loss.
Is this an okay idea while I wait for more money? I know it is a shit camera but it is not the absolute worst and allot can be done with the footage in post...
Second hand a7s would be a much better choice, and it will last as long as you need. What money you lose on the body, you will quicjly regain with cheaper lenses and video gear
>>2945719
That is one of the cameras I am looking into buying for long term use, possibly after the EOS 700, currently a second hand A76 is out of my price range until january. To be clear, the money I am spending on a camera is my "social" money, or money for non essentials like bills and shit, I care about this allot and so I am giving up most of my social life to save for a long term camera. Currently though, the cheapest a7s I see on ebay is $1700.

Has anyone had success with getting their photos featured on IG accounts? Still trying and have had no luck. Looking for some tips and tricks, some good feature accounts on IG.

So listen, I feel like you are shooting what you think people want. You should try shooting what you want.
All your photos seem disconnected with no real artistic value to them. Im not saying they're snap shots but there is no substance.
Maybe you should try shooting film to get a sense of what your style is.
This is very generic stuff. A photographer aspires to other photographers and you can see those homages in their work. Your work aspires to other instagram profiles by the look of it. It's very generic in framing but the content isn't exactly stellar either
Which one do you prefer?
>>2945489
Option 2
None
>>2945493
Didn't ask what you liked, asked what you preferred. Still understandable.
Why is 100 the minimum?
This would save me the trouble of carrying and buying nd filters.
You can imagine it to be "1" in your head if it makes you feel better.
>>2945407
Well that's not entirely true, the S in ISO stands for 'standardisation' for a reason.
>>2945401
The sensor has its maximum sharpness/minimum faults at ISO100, so it's impossible as this is directly linked to light sensitivity. Higher ISO values don't make the sensor really more light sensitive, it tries to amplify the information available and interpolates the image.
There are some cameras with 50 ISO, 25 ISO...
I wanted to get into film photography so I borrowed a Praktica B200. The thing is I've never owned a film camera before and was wondering about any tips? What film would be best for it?
I've got some bad news anon. That film's been discontinued.
Everyone moved onto digital and large format long ago. Uhm, you might have some luck at a flea market but not sure where you'd get it developed.
>>2945345
35mm film is readily available you giganigger.
>>2945347
Yeah,
will any 35mm film do?
I am trying to pick up a cheap DSLR camera because I want to get into photography but I'm in college and I don't have a good job
I think I'm going to buy the Nikon D3200 but I want to be sure that this is a significant boost from my Galaxy s7 edge camera
I am also looking for suggestions
>inb4 do your own research
I have but I'm too inexperienced to really know exactly what I want
Also, does anyone have experience buying from PowerSellerDigital because they are selling the D3200 for pretty cheap with free shipping but it seems a little too good to be true
>>2945216
I was about to start a thread about advice for a D3300, but will monitor this one instead.
>I'm too inexperienced to really know exactly what I want
I second this. From the limited research that I have done, a lot of websites point to the D3300 as a good entry level DSLR, but I'm open to suggestions for alternatives.
Ultimately I would like to get into Macro Photography, but I'll leave that for when I'm more experienced.
Thanks.
you guys need to lurk more, and use the gear thread. (Protip buy used gear, a 2007 dslr will cover your needs for now)

Really? How much has the technology changed in nearly ten years? And how much roughly would a ten year old camera set me back?
