With the proliferation of ethanol in fuel this day and age
How would presently produced engines work with just straight moonshine?
Buy a couple bottles of everclear and get back to us.
The model T ran off moonshine didnt it?

>everclear
Whats that?
Hey /o/, I managed to get my truck stuck in the snow tonight, and I realized that I need to know more about how cars work. I don't have any knowledge whatsoever when it comes to cars, so any links to basic walkthroughs of how things work, would like to know about basic engine operation, driveline operation, just basic things really to start. I am looking at buying my first car soon, and suggestions would be nice as well (I am currently reading through the sticky.) Thanks for any help, advice, or anything of the sort!

Wrong pic I guess. Wish I could help.
I got my first car roughly six months ago, a Vauxhall nova 1.2. I'd suggest a small engine for cheap insurance. Look for low milages, service history and a car that has been looked after or can be. Do some browsing and you'll get to grips with the do's and don't's of maintaince I'm sure, such as over greasing with under seal a common cover up for big problems underneath.
Can someone pleeease help me find this spoiler for my 2010 civic so been looking forever and its killing me
Try a swap meet in an area populated by latinos
Don't put a spoiler on a civic.
I could but I won't. It's for your own good. That picture is nothing you should be aspiring to.
Fourchan, this is not the most original thread ever. But I am about to buy pic attached, WRX 2002. Basic bitch that I am, ca.9000$.
180.000km,100.000 miles. Good condition, complete service history. Exhaust n intake slightly modified, morette lights or original as a choice. Oil is 5W40, but changed frequently.
I have the money, but I should spend it on other things. Plus, I would rather have a marvellous blue/gold blobeye for 15.000$, which I won't spend.
Stop me, please?

It's been more than "slightly modified" OP. Hold out for a less molested one.
>modded 13 year old WRX
Eeeeeeh.....

You guys do realize that Death by Snek is a meme, right? You would have to be an imbecile to do so.
If you can get a Snek up to 100,000km without dying, you are driving it wrong

First post is best post
10/10
The first gens were definitely way overpowered for the chassis and were insane compared to other cars coming out in the early 90s especially for the price, I think the reputation was well deserved in the beginning. As they evolved though I agree that they aren't particularly crashy or dangerous compared to most other performance cars.
Should I feel bad for actually wanting one of these?
>>14148662
>Yes
>>14148662
there are worse cars to want
and people are dicks regardless
Holy fuck, did Honda just slap a CR-V front end on the Fit?
im sad
did a honda civic beat you in your NA 200zx again?
>>14148375
im sad it's so hard to find great handling small cars for cheap
>>14148379
I hope you can find one in 2016 anon
i mean just 1 year less until amerifriends can import type Rs
>wheel covers
My parents got me these beauties for Christmas, along with racing seat covers. For my autotragic Cobalt with 155hp and dollar store tires.
>>14148345
the new ones on most cars actually look pretty good
Still have all my original factory wheel covers
They are beat to shit though, but I don`t care.

Why is every car under 20k new boring as fuck?
might as well buy 20 corollas or take the bus
>>14148252
>inflation
Compare them to a $7k car in 1980. Because that's the same thing not taking into account some purchasing power, even though that would roughly be the same in that time frame. the base corolla from that time was like $6k. So there ya go.
>>14148252
Can't you get a Fiesta St for around 20k?
>>14148432
$21,460 to be precise.
So I found a 2005 Infiniti G35x for 8 grand. It had 140k miles on it.
I drove it and was amazed. The interior, drive-train and handling all were like a new car. I couldn't find anything wrong with it. There was not even any wear on the leather seats. Besides some normal wear and tear on the outside it felt like a new car.
So what is the deal with these things? Are they normally reliable cars? From my research online it seems that they are. After driving it, it makes me want to look for one with lower miles for more money, which i'm willing to spend.
>$8,000
>140,000 miles
this is bait
>>14148172
Shit trans in car. See them in the shop all the time. Interior is dated as fuck already. LOL orange dash lights. Don't age well. Other than that, the engine is a tank. The electronics are great. Suspension is okay. Bushings here and there. They aren't bad but they aren't good. Also 8k is a lot. I find the 2wd ones here for 4-6k with less miles. The awd isn't that good anyways. It's not true 50/50. I mean for an X it's not a high price, but I just don't think it's worth it.

post come CL adds with a clean title g35X with lower miles going for less money.
A Cadillac Escalade completely engulfed in flames has the exact same carbon footprint as one idling at a stoplight.

What do you eco fags want? More MPG or more fuel consumption for less tailpipe emissions?
>>14148123
>carbon footprint
>plants eat up that carbon

Pretty awesome. I'm thinking about getting the EX-L. It's the same car but with leather seats. It feels way more planted on the highway than any other FWD compact I've driven save for the CLA. It actually feels like this was benched more against luxury branded vehicles like the CLA or A3. Probably the best car in it's segment right now. it also felt faster than the Mazda 3 even though it has a smaller engine and a turbo.
just wait till the civic si comes out next year

Looks like a Hyundai minivan.
Typical angry headlights, big mouth grill zzz.
And like usual it'll make less torque than a lawnmower, 0-60 in the 9 second range. Literally zero reason to be interested in this car.
Now if it wasn't so slow, didn't look like ass, wasn't fuck huge, wasn't fwd, wasn't going to be owned by teen girls, and didn't have a limp noodle chassis, maybe we'd have something to talk about.
As is, it's just a cheap Honda that'll be produced in numbers to flood the market, as usual.
Found this beauty near me, what's you opinion, /o/? This AWD wagon or RWD sedan?
I really liked the CTS Wagon in a I'd-never-actually-buy-one-kind of way. Especially the V version, it just made me happy that a Luxury, sport, STATION WAGON existed.
I say go for it.
>>14148045
CTSV wagon > ATSV > CTSV sedan >>>> CTS etc

>beauty
it's pretty unappealing
What are you saving up for /o/?
>jpg related, for my penny-jar. White lasts the longest.
>tfw no BBF new edge
also the new miata is nice, cant wait to buy one as soon as they hit like 18-20k
It may have a face only a mother could love, but the 818 is just too awesome for me to not want.
I want a Hellcat. I've started hocking my shit on ebay and tucking aside a little bit here and there. I need to wait to see where my job is going to send me next before I take the plunge though.
