Hey guys, I could use some opinions. I have a 96 jeep cherokee xj I'm fixing up for winter. For some reason whenever I accelerate rather hard there is a heavy repetitive metal to metal banging noise underneath it. I don't think it's the motor mounts because they look in semi decent shape. Also there is no play in the drive shafts so I'm not sure it's that either. Any ideas?

I should also say that it does it when I'm in drive and standing on the brake while giving it gas.

Hey guys

I was backing out of a narrow driveway in the dark, flirting with this new girl I'm seeing, and when I swung out into traffic I clipped a tree with my front bumper because I'm a huge fag.

It felt like I barely scraped it, but the bumper basically shattered into a million pieces.

Trying to decide whether to use my insurance or pay out of pocket and upgrade to MTech or something. Waiting to hear back from my adjuster to find out if my rates will change or not.

Did you guys do anything stupid this week?

I've read the sticky but I feel like there may be better options because of my wants/needs in the same price areas.

I'd like a compact sedan or coupe that will go faster than a kia rio or accord.

I've changed my radiator, a leaky transmission line, and some other stuff so I can do some home wrenching but i'd like it to be reliable enough I don't worry about having to wrench it daily.

I need gas mileage to be at least 22 city / higher highway.

I don't want something an insurance company is going to bend me over for owning.

This is a daily driver.

Yeah I know it's manual for life here but I never got taught it and don't want to risk learning it for my daily driver because i'm a broke college student.

I'd prefer something from 2002-2008 but if I can get newer in this budget that isn't junk i'll take it.

Budget is $5.5k

The fury I fucking felt that I didn't realize what was happening sooner. Fuck, /o/, why do people have to do this?

I have a Geo Metro shitbox, so it shouldn't be a huge deal to me, but that's MY fucking shitbox and I wasn't even remotely parked in another spot. My car is tiny and I had at least 6-7 inches of clearance on both sides of the parking spot, yet this bitch still pulled her land barge in and scratched my shit up.

Imagine a Racing Series of the future. The technology can either be present day or speculative. For example, the cars could still be combustion-powered and made with highly lightweight bodies, or hover vehicles capable of speeds in excess of 300 mph.

Also try to imagine some course layouts, a typical car or vehicle in such an event, and some rules, possibly including a scoring system.

This thread is just meant to encourage some creativity.

This lady got her money back via lemon law because she can't drive a manual. She tries to start in second gear from a total stop. She dumps the clutch, stalls it, and then proceeds to furiously mash the start button. She brought the car in for service, but they could not produce the same failure (because she wasn't behind the wheel). She records a video of it happening and then they gave her her money back.

this shouldn't actually matter because it's a switch that is controlling input to the bcm and the computer is actually starting the car, not like turning a key over in an old car

the computer won't let you hold the starter over
