Has anyone bought a car sight unseen before? I want this Miata since it appears to be clean enough and fairly priced for a 97M Edition.
I've been looking for almost a year for a half decent Miata in my area and I've given up hope. So now I'm resorting to shipping a car up to me ;_;
Here's the car:

It's leaking bumper oil visibly in the pic.
AVOID
Yeah those NAs had notoriously leaky bumpers. I have to top off my bumper oil biweekly. And the car is pretty much shot if you run dry and your bumper seizes up.

Do a VIN check
If you can talk to owner and get the full run down, and try to see it in person
seems like a really low price for a clean car, and other than the leaky bumper it looks decent

where do you live?

You could ask him to take some pictures of the undercarriage.
Radiator looks bad, and so does the fluid in the overflow, and what's up with the brake fluid reservoir?
did you see how fucked the color on the other side is? it's pretty fucked for 2.5k IMO

Yeah, it will need a full fluid change and some necessary maintenance stuff. The clearcoat failed on the rear right too. I'm fine with that, considering the price. I'm just debating on whether or not I should keep waiting for one to pop up locally or just pay for this and have it shipped.

Upstate NY - every Miata here is either beat up, rusted to hell, or both.
I want this one since it's relatively clean and not too expensive. I'd be fine if it came out crappy since it's cheap enough and if it's not rusty, a clean NA shell is worth at least $2000 anyways.
Got a VIN check - it's clean. Guy said it needs a new radiator as well (obvious) - but it still runs and drives fine.
He said that if I paid him $2000 by tomorrow it's mine when I called him. Should I just do it and fix it when it gets here?
Miatas are expensive

Seems like he wants to sell quick a bit too much. I'd want to see it.
A lot of the CELs may be from a clogged EGR.
Seems like a great deal. M-edition so it must have dat LSD.

There are a few decent miatas for sale on the east coast.
You should be checking the entire Tri-state area, not just upstate new york, unless getting the car back is going to be a problem.
for anything thats under 3k you arent really going to find anything clean
