Yes, it's possible. You just have to fabricate your own adapter.

Why is this allowed?
It's gonna spend more time switching gears than actually powering the wheels.

I brought a tread depth gauge today and noticed my front tires have very little life left but my back tires are still fairly good. Should I buy two new tires and use them with the old tires in the rear, or would I be better off getting old tires and saving money for four tires? I'm thinking of maybe going shop to shop and measuring the tires with my gauge if they let me. But would it be a good idea to use old tires with new tires?

Why do you use a guage?

Just use your fingers and if there is no thread then it is trash time.

Do you want to have fun with your fwd?
Then put the old tires in the back.

And I brought it for the peace of mind. I want the safest and most comfy ride possible. But I have a lot paying job so I can't afford to slap on four brand new tires otherwise I would

Ford Explorer 1993 as a first car? What do you think?
Is Jeep Grand Cherokee I a better option? I'd be using this to drive to work, in town and from time to time for longer drives.

I had a 1st gen Explorer Sport 2WD 5spd, my friend had a 1st gen GC 5.2L AWD. His transmission took a shit and it cost a lot to be replaced(I wasn't mechanically inclined enough to help him at the time). My most expensive repair was clutch replacement which was <1/3 the price.

The GC was nicer, but was no faster. I averaged 17-18mpg in mixed driving, my friend got around 12mpg. If you never plan on doing any hardcore offroading the Explorer will suit you just fine, but the Jeep is better offroad stock vs stock. The auto transmissions in both are pretty shit desu, but both are available with 5spd manuals(you can get a 5spd Explorer in almost any trim sans Eddie Bauer, but only with the I6 on the Jeep), if you get an auto Explorer make sure it's one with the towing package as it has an auxiliary trans cooler and heat it was kills them. When it comes to repairs you will be able to find more Explorer parts due to the massive numbers they sold in, but it won't be hard to find parts for the Jeep either since a lot of it's parts are used on other Chrysler products.
>>
>>16458417
I head that Grand Cherokee I breaks A LOT.
Idk if that's true tho. I guess if you use it off road it will more likely break faster than in town. What do you think?
Thanks for the reply.
>>
>>16458573
These are almost 30 year old cars at this point, don't expect new car reliability. Something will break eventually.

If you're not going to get a manual, get the Jeep with the 5.2L V8. An auto 4x4 4dr 1st gen Explorer wouldn't hold a candle to the V8 powered GC. I know from having raced one and my friends Jeep on separate occasions in my Explorer I mentioned in my previous post. I roasted the auto Explorer and ran door to door with my friends Jeep.

Would putting in a cold air intake affect my ability to get an inspection sticker?

I remember reading somewhere that those are technically illegal.

failed a roadie on my commie for having an OTRCAI here in straya
>>
Probably not unless it had some kind of effect on your emissions and you lived in a state where they test for it.

On a side note, please don't fucking waste your money on a cold air intake. It literally wont do a god damn fucking thing. Even if you did spend the money like a retard to retune your car after adding something as trivial as a cold air intake, your performance increase would be completely negligible.

no. fags on /o/ can call me a cuck but get a certified pre owned from a dealership. buying a old POS is a gamble. after all you get what you pay for. someone who knows about cars could buy a old car and know what to look out for. but in your case go to a dealership.

so many threads on /o/ where a anon bought a car on CL and it turns out to be a POS. jap cars are good very reliable.
