only good thing about vag and german cars in general is that their styling is always more subdued and ages alot better than the rest of the car.
Shame they are unreliable turds

This car is faster, better handling, more reliable, and immeasurably safer than the 1970.

A fuckton of in between generations that changed based on the automotive environment, safety regs, fuel regs, etc at the time. Old chargers are cool but new ones are objectively the best they've ever been.
Anything I should know before buying a baby like this?
ehhh.... some reason I went through a phase where I wanted an E30. Wait, I know the reason, the internet shilled so much about them. Regular Cars made me go out and check on eout. After driving one, well, they feel like a tin box, a shit box of a car. Rattly, noisy, raw. It's not a bad thing for me, but vastly underpowered in today's times.
Still love how they look though. Call up auto parts places and ask about fuel pumps, alternators, etc just to see not just pricing, but how long it may take for them to get the parts.

When I first heard that song I thought the lyrics were "legacy, phantom" and I was thinking what does a Subaru Legacy have in common with a rolls Royce phantom?

Rap is objectively a terrible """"music"""" genre
Hi /auto/,
First time poster.
I have a 1988 Toyota Truck Xtra Cab, 5-speed manual, ~140k miles, 4x4, 2.4 litre engine (93 HP).
I love my truck very much, but do wish it had a bit more power. It can be frustrating going up hills in 3rd gear, pedal to the floor, unable to break 40.
I was wondering what y'all might recommend as means to increase it's power by maybe 10-15% without sacrificing too much reliability.
I've read on some other forums that the following might get me a bit more power:
upgrading to an electronic fan
tweaking the gear ratios (I have slightly larger tires and don't think this has been done)
new headers
new exhaust
I just thought I'd run it by y'all and see if you might have thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks in advance!
bump plus small additional info: I'm looking to spend not more than $2k.
5VZ swap.
It's the only way.
>>16539610
seems a bit pricey - quick google search suggests it's ~5k.
I love that it has a 22-RE, which I'd rather not replace.
I will look into this further - thank you for the recommendation nonetheless.
I just graduated from medicine after working my ass off for the past 10 years, and at the risk of sounding like a huge faggot, I've been thinking of getting into the "scene" by finally getting a car I like and putting money into it and hanging out with other car people. I currently drive an econobox and I dunno, I'm 32 and I guess I'm sorta getting into a mid-life crisis and I don't really have any friends outside of work. Is this a good idea y/n?
>>16539501
get into the drift or track scene near you and go all out, you'll make lots of friends
>>16539501
first of all don't call it the tuner scene.
second, what's your budget and what are you genuinely interested in?
Also hanging out with other car people tends to be pretty lame not even joking. Just enjoy your car and hopefully youll find cool people to hang with.
>>16539501
Hanging out sucks dick if you're autistic enough to find 4chan. I suggest finding a deserted back road you enjoy driving and buying a sportscar of your choice.
Post yur piggy banks.

I have like $15000 saved up but I also have $18000 in student loans but being a busrider with 1 hour commutes is just life draining
i dunno man, the right thing to do is to just bus because car insurance in Ontario is crazy but man I really think I'm going to take the plunge anyways within a couple months.
>>16539524
I wouldn't do that. Unless you have another income that is.
I have about $40 saved for a Model S P100D.
:D

Pictured sitting in the dirt
Why not at least bother moving it?
Why can people not even bother to present their shit cars well for photos?

Send him a message that's just the word stored with quotation marks around it.

He should just end it now
What advantage do smaller engines provide aside from fuel Economy and signaling to other gays you are DTF
top speed mainly. less reciprocating mass = higher rpms = more top end
>>16538336
Somebody basically wasted a mustang, right?
>>16538336
Large engines getting bad fuel economy is a meme. A 7l engine at 1200rpm is going to be using less fuel than a 1.8l at 4500rpm.
To the non-Americans/Canadians, which American car or truck would you buy if you could get one?
Pic unrelated.
No, anon, that pic is VERY much related now.
One of those old square small ford/chevy trucks. they look awesome
can't find the right picture now but you got it
aw fuck

Push that shit into your neighbors driveway if it's yours and you're cool with them.

What would cause one headlight to only work sometimes? I checked the fuses already.
Check the wiring.
If it's not the wiring, it's the light itself.
I just fixed this problem, it was the headlight socket for me. Could be loose ground, could be bulb. Most likely wiring/socket.
You need headlight fluid. The store also has elbow grease but the last time I was there they only had a flag. I got it but man did that start trouble.
Do you guys have any tips for sleeping in your car?
My hotel room fell through and I can't get a refund for what I have invested for the vacation. (Anime convention)
I'll be spending about three nights in my car. It'll be parked in an outdoor garage for the entirety while I am there and may be cold out.
Any tips? What should I pack for comfort?
Pic related is what I'll be sleeping in.
Get a case of water bottles and throw it in the trunk. Convenience stores or grocery stores sell small styrofoam ice chests for cheap so you can keep water cool and a pack of sandwich fixings (bologna cheese) without it spoiling. For ice just go to any restaurant ask if they can help you fill it with some ice and explain your situation. Peanut butter has protein too. Get a cheap can opener from the dollar store and eat Campbell's chunky for lunch. Pack 2-3 blankets and a pillow keep a pocket knife within reach AT ALL TIMES. Wallet locked in glove compartment while you sleep preferably in a well lit area
