Collision coverage alone on a 2017 WRX is $334 every 6 months - and this is with a 61 and 60 year old married couple on the insurance. That's more than every other part of the policy combined.
Jesus christ, fuck all the vapefags who keep crashing these cars.

Hey /o/. I haven't been on this board in several year so I don't know how different things are but I was wondering if I could get some advice. I'm 22, so I've been driving for a little while, and I was thinking of buying my second car. I've had my 2007 dodge caliber paid off for a little while now and was thinking of just getting a more enjoyable car for around 14k. I've been looking at like a 2011ish 328i, RX-8, and G37.
I've read a few forums on each of these cars but I was just wondering if anyone here had first hand experience driving any of these cars, of if they have another car I should consider all together.
G37. Absolutely G37.
Learn to do your own maintenance or go to a Nissan dealer instead of infiniti.
>$130 cabin air filter replacement
>$90 engine air filter replacement
>$60-$90 oil change
I rape these poor fucks wallets on the daily and I'm laughing my way to the bank
Aside from that in its price range the G37 is pretty much the best youre going to do. Fantastic cars compared to similar priced offerings, in terms of reliability, looks and comfort.

You had a loan on a Dodge caliber? Nigger detected
>you can still buy/build a stock Model T
>you can essentially own a 110 year old car in a brand-new condition
>there are still companies making parts for a car that's 110 years old
This gives me hope for the future of what we call "classics" today (such as old American muscle cars for example).
uhh people have been doing that for a while now
all the way to 100% brand new reproduction bodies
>>16621276
so basically you can drive/build a "new" car that would not meet current standards so long as you have the VIN?
>>16621372
why not? theres a few projects where people built Working versions of concept cars out of wood and what not.
Would you a Continental wagon?

Nah
maybe, but I would more likely a continental coupe on the sedan wheelbase
Is it autism or...???
What does /o/ think?
Personally love the way the Dodge Challenger has made its comeback. But did Chrysler fuck up again with an AWD muscle car?
Opinions? I still have yet to drive one so I'm looking for general knowledge as well as first hand knowledge.
>V6
>muscle
I've seen some VW Golf Syncros make some amazing launches but as far as torque monsters go I don't think it would offer enough advantages to offset the liabilities at least not for muscle style driving. I'm sure they'd slide around less but is that really what you want?
>>16621307
Exactly what I was wondering actually. To much bang for an awd? Nice concept but is it worth it? Other then just being able to drive your nice looking challenger in the snow and rain why else would you want it.
It'd be more of a "hey look at my car" car instead of raw performance I feel. But then again that's how it is with the sxt. Anything but the srt's or r/t's are just for showing off.
Still though, I wouldn't mind being able to drive this guy in the snow a little with some decent tires and drift in the winter like a subie.
How to winterproof against salt?
Do you buy another vehicle? Do you just spray it with that heavy oil? Do you bring it to the oil Jew to wash it with robots? Do you pay the $2 to use the power washer? Do you just fucking kill yourself?
buy something that doesnt corrode easily.
avoid steel. buy an audi or something.

well before you kill yourself please consider moving to a place that doesn't salt.
Car is a 1973 240z, motor is an L26 running a single edelbrock carb (I've attached pics, can you guys identify the carb please). Car was running fine yesterday, parking it at night. Rained overnight, cold morning and the car wont start. Let it sit all day, still wont start.
Fuel line has pressure when cranking.
Is the choke on these automatic?
>>16621049
No idea except that on my car with an automatic choke (a Subaru not a datsun) you still have to turn it on. In my car you press the pedal twice and it comes on/engages
Electric vehicles are not cars as they do not run on an internal combustion engine. Discussion of electric vehicles such as the Telsa belongs on /g/, as they are in the same category as segways. Please kindly refrain from discussing non-cars (such as the Telsa) on /o/.

A car is defined as "a vehicle moving on wheels" by the dictionary. And while I'm not usually one to vehemently jump to Tesla's defense like their endless drones of """car enthusiasts"""™, they are indeed a type of car. Regardless of your opinions on them.
I need some advice. Asked this in a thread earlier and got no responses, help me out /o/.
Looking to buy a daily driver for under $4-5k. Needs to be AWD, reliable (or simple enough I can wrench without a dealership) and fun/sporty would be cool too. I've narrowed it down to three recurring vehicles available in my used market:
>2004-5 Audi A6 allroad 2.7t
Can be had with ~130-140000 for my budget. Like the solid engine output figures and utility of the larger estate body. Fear electronic gremlins (Audi) and the reliability of forced induction over time. Nicest interiors of anything I'm looking at, sometimes can find a 6MT. Fear maintenance prices.
>2003-2005 WRX hatch
Can be found with around 120k in my budget. Really like the body style, fun little cars. Interiors aren't special but I'll save money on insurance over a "premium" vehicle. Only concern is the forced induction relivility especially on a little boxter but these seem to have decent longnevity provided you're not tuning.
>2004-2006 Infiniti G35x Sedan
Can be had with ~120-140k in my budget. Seem to be the funnest car of the three, even early models have good power. Lack of super/turbo leads me to believe they're also a fair bit simpler to maintain than the other two but I'm no expert. Unfortunately awd only comes in automatic, and I've heard these things can be a money pit.
What say you /o/? I want a ~$4k car that I can get another 60-80k miles out of, and have a good time doing it. I don't own any other vehicles, what should I go with?
Pic is my dream but unavailable in burgerland
Go with the WRX. Pretty easy to work on and parts are fairly common. Audis and VWs are expensive and gay unless you love them. (I work on them and for the most part like them but you need special tools for almost everything). Infiniti g35 is decent choice too but everything is kind of crammed in there from what I've seen. I like space in my engine bays.

What's with late 90s and early 2000s economy cars today? Missing hubcaps, foggy headlights, dents and scratches everywhere, dulled paint, second taillight not working, covered in road salt, everything squeaks, etc. And the driver is almost always a miserable mother with three kids in the back. Explain how all of these cars are destined to this fate, /o/.
>>16620625
they become cheap and the people that end up buying them see them only as an appliance - like a kettle or toaster.
Ergo little or no maintenance, no care taken in operation or anything else.
It becomes just a tool from getting from A to B, like a bus.
>>16620688
It's an economy car. It was always an appliance.
gee
theyre old shitboxes being used for what they were made for
Would I regret getting an r32 GTS-T over a GTR?
The R is more than twice as much from the company I might be buying from and I dont get the benchracing cred.
>12k GTS T
>29K GTR
Or just buy a GT-R already here for $18k
>>16620488
They are here already and fully registered in Cali and smogged. Most of the cars I see in cali that cost that much arent registered or pass smog.
There is an illegal r33 GTR for 15k here that I am seriously considering...
>>16620493
GTRs are obsolete. It's best to grow up and stop being a weeb
Thinking of getting a 3rd gen Camaro to build. Everyone hates the 305s, and the 350s didn't come with a manual trans, so how hard would it be to swap the 305 for the 350? Would the transmission work for the 350?
sure it will work but it will also grenade itself quickly
its better to just get a 350 auto
They're the same engine family and should use the exact same mounting, but I don't think the manual can handle the 350's extra torque.
>>16620303
B....but I want a manual....
>>16620305
What trans would work best behind the 350, and also for a broke guy like myself?
