/o/tists tell me why I shouldn't buy a rx8. Recently I've seen quite a few of them in good conditions drop below 5,000, but at the same time it's

Premix and you're fine
Trying to find the optimal motorcycle for my money. I live in an area where the roads are below average conditions (some potholes, rough roads). I aim to spend around $3000 USD on a road bike, but I'm not really sure what is the best choice for what I'm paying.
Any advice would be appreciated.
>>16622212
To give advice, we need to know what your goal with a motorcycle is. Want cheapest transportation possible? Get a scooter, they get like 100mpg. Want cheapest speed possible? Get a supersport that's been laid down, is missing it's fairings, and doesn't have a muffler. It'll cost next to nothing and still go well into triple digit speeds. Want something to hoon around on/explore? Get an old, single cylinder dualsport. They're pretty bulletproof, and easy as shit to repair if something does go wrong
>>16622287
If you want city driving as well as a bit of highway driving go for a 250cc. Still high mpg and far more fun than a scooter. People won't laugh at you as well.
>>16622212
Honda CBF125, learn to ride on it, save more, then sell it and buy something bigger once you know what you want.
You realize that this is basically the new Supra, right?
Fucking wretched.
>>16622172
>fuckingpedestrians.jpg
>>16622165
Id say its Japan's take on the AMG cars. far too fat to be a supra and the supra itself wasn't even this fat compared to its rivals of its own time. this thing is nearing 4000 lbs and is NA making it un-tuner friendly which the last supra was. it also rides on a kind of Frankenstein mix of a sedan and coupe platform where as the last supra was a dedicated GT coupe platform.
Will the landbarge ever return?
why would you want a barge when yachts exist
Hopefully

So I've recently started gaining interest in rallying/rallycross. How would I go about learning more about the sport?

Googling it.

Hello /o/. I usually post exclusively on /ck/ but I have a question that you should be able to answer quite easily.
I went to the McDonald's drive through this afternoon and got a 10-piece chicken McNugget combo with a Diet Coke and a bacon cheeseburger on the side.
I parked in the lot and proceeded to eat. Although I normally do not do this, I left my car running because it was rather cold outside and my car was still cool inside. I also take my jacket off when I eat so that I do not spill anything on it. I learned this lesson while eating a Baconator in December.
As I was enjoying my food and listening to a podcast, I heard a knock on my window. I jumped and saw a man outside. I assumed he was asking for money (it has happened) and put my window down an inch and told him I did not have change and use my debit card most of the time because it is more convenient and I can track my expenses more effectively.
He laughed and then looked very serious and said that I should not idle my vehicle because it was unnecessary pollution. I was pretty intimidated to say the least, so I put the window up and turned off my vehicle and ignored him. I was very uncomfortable so I drove to a gas station across the street to finish eating.
I was eating and idling when I saw that he was getting gas at the very same establishment I was at. I turned off my vehicle and ate in the cold, which was pretty disappointing, especially with a Diet Coke half full of ice.
My question for /o/ is, how bad is idling your vehicle versus driving? Is idling for 10 minutes that bad in terms of gas consumption and pollution? How many miles would 10 minutes of idling equate to?
Thank you very much.

It probably matters that my vehicle is a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire.

>finally in a position to buy my dream car
>start seriously looking into it
>it's old enough to have a checklist of issues now
>general mandatory fixes aren't expensive but time consuming as hell
>but god forbid if the PO was dumb with the car which leads to more expensive problems
>it's inherently pretty stupidly expensive to run
>strictly should be a weekend car as issues can be random and frequent
>already rice taxed as hell
>already difficult to find and even harder to find a clean one

ITT anon discovers why people buy new cars
>inb4 some retard tells us buying new is a waste of money
Help me /o/. I have a problem.
I love these 90's civics so much. Seriously. I just want to daily a 1991 Honda Civic EX with baby blue paintjob, a D15B VTEC-e, and the longest geared 5-speed manual I can find. Just enjoying a cheap little gas sipper, but with a bit of style added.
ITT: post that car that you don't know why you love it so much, but you just do!
For me, it's the late 80's accord. So stylish. Modern enough to be a daily driver even today.

I just scrapped mine today ;_; feels bad.

If german engineering is so good, why do their cars break irreparably and only niggers drive them?
The good ideas stopped after 1945.
>>16621678
Not at all. The Germans have continued to secretly gas us all up until very recently.

they are already cheap?

lol wut, they are the cheapest they have ever been
if you had these 2 classics as a first car
which one would you pick?
Datsun 710 - Vw Rabbit
i need some opinions, feel free to say they are both shit and recommend something similar
Datsun 710. I've always felt that old Golfs were destined to stray further from classic and closer to shitbox the more they're bought and driven as first cars. That is, if they even survive. I guess that makes them constantly more rare but a pristine 710 would probably be much higher in value anyway. It's automotive carnage but we can't do anything about it.

1st page cruiser here
yeah pretty much this op
>>16621458
Hi. I own two Rabbits. They're both diesels, and they're both shit.
The shifter feels like pushing a stick through a hot, fresh soggy dog turd unless you rebuild everything. And even then, the shifter will still be pushing a stick through a dog turd that's a couple hours old. This is because it's made of a rube goldberg collection of linkages, levers, and bellcranks. Pic related.
They look simple and easy to work on but that's an illusion.
Wanna change the steering box? Gotta disassemble half the shift linkage system, and pray the super brittle plastic sockets on the ends don't break.
The exhaust downpipe is held on to the manifold by a couple C-shaped spring clips. You need a wedge or a special tool to remove them.
Changing the starter requires jacking up the engine and taking the front motor mount off, then wrestling with it for a half hour to get it back on.
The front starter bushing is actually in the transmission case. In a blind hole. Changing it requires tapping threads into the bushing and jacking it out with a bolt.
The diesel is severely underpowered. 52 FWHP brand new. I got one of mine to 85 MPH once, and I thought I was gonna die.
It can cruise at 65 MPH until you hit a mild incline . Oh, and getting to 65 takes eons.
A gas car would definitely alleviate that problem.
It looks like gas cars are only a little cheaper than a diesel, parts wise. And that's not the big stuff like heads and CIS distributor pumps. Those are just as expensive as their diesel counterparts.
Go with the Datsun. Or a Civic/Corolla for 3k.
Will late 90s/early 2000s shitboxes ever be considered classic cars in the 2020s and onwards?
No. That's like considering Nickleback classic rock in the 2020's.
>>16621418
As my grandpa says "cars from that generation and onward lack the personality of cars from when I or your father were young men and won't be sought after as much in the future."
I think there will be a charm to seeing cars like these in pristine condition on the road in the future but values of econoboxes like these will always stay incredibly low regardless of condition.
http://bringatrailer.com/2015/06/05/51k-mile-1992-nissan-sentra-se-r/
This thing only went for $6,000 despite not a lot of them being made and people saying they're very coveted and going up in value
no one ever gave a shit about cars like that and never has
you can still get old shitboxes for cheap despite being "classics"
