Norwegian Wood is a great song. I listened to it earlier and thought about my ex-girlfriend. It helped revive me from my malaise, even if just for more sadness. The book has the opposite effect.

I haven't read Norwegian Wood but I have read a fair bit of Murakami. He's a bit of a meme but an enjoyable one, like wojak.

Depends on the person. Those books obviously wouldn't be essential to someone interested only in philosophy.
In terms of fantasy and world-building, those are considered essential by most, yes.
