First time poster, first time buyer, not first time shooter, is there an updated version of this?
Looking to spend no more than $400.
Ive been to ranges, have shot shotguns, semi automatics, snipers (military family rules), and pistols.
I'm mostly good with shotguns and pistols (plus they're usually cheaper than semi automatics)
bump for interest
Is.....is this bait?

>i've shot snipers
hello /k/ i have 160$ what should i purchase?
A hipoint

Nothing. Wait for your weapons fund to get larger then ask again. Until then buy a cheap air soft or Nerf gun to tie you over.

What do you think of greatcoats/trenchcoats, /k/?
Also milsurp thread.
>>31084867
Unless you're in a subarctic area I see little use for them most of the season. A nice poncho will do the job for anyone in the northern temperates and tropics.
Good for when you have to stand outside for long periods of time. Also good for making people think you are gonna shoot up a school
>>31084881
Yeah, not so much use to them now. Before modern warfare they had their place, when shelter, alternative protective clothing and a widespread motorized transportation infrastructure where less available
Bring out the short shorts, camo FALs and fabulous beards. It's time for a Rhodesian thread.
Hell yeah man

This was real. This was wonderful. Everyone lost it, everyone was on their face. Everyone was pushing the earth in a vain attempt to move it slightly so as to correct the need for daylight savings. This happened during a period where we found out that the days were getting longer. We celebrated by sleeping one hour a day less for a week, and also doing more random ass tasks for fucking up the calibration of the earth, and increasing day length instead of shortening.
ill still never forget it though "SIR TRAINEE XXX WISHES TO APOLOGIZE FOR INCORRECTLY CALIBRATING THE ORBITAL MECHANICS OF EARTH, AND BRINGING DISCREDIT TO HIMSELF, HIS FLIGHT, THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, AND HIS COUNTRY!" Our dude had to walk away for a bit, we all stood there, shock still, dead silent in the rain for about 5 minutes, it was warm out, and oddly pleasant all things considered, there at parade rest.

It's April 1945 and you and comrade Ivan have been selected to lead the attack on the Reichstag.
You can select a team to help you, they will protect you with their lives and obey your commands. You must survive until the Soviet flag is raised on top and be present when it happens.

Why don't gun and ammo manufacturers make more commercials?

Any TV channel that does a modicum of firearms content has a shitload of advertisements.
They don't do normie one's because why bother reaching out to a handful of people (and spend a fair bit of money doing so) when you're just going to get shit on by "EHRMEHGAWD, DEYS IS ADVE- ADVA- DEYS IS GLORIFYING GUNS ON MUH TV. THINK OF DA CHILLUNZ"
>>31085209
Henry always had commercials on normie channels.
>>31085209
Might help to normalize or keep guns normal if we have reasonable commercials playing on popular media.
Looking to buy my first handgun, and figure I should start with the Glock 19. Glock's new MOS system caught my eye, thoughts?
>>31084169
>first handgun
>optics
Get a regular ass 19 and replace the sight with some nice night sights and call it a day.
Bad habits form when you start out learning with an optic
>>31084193
What if I just stick with upgraded night sights for the first few years? The idea of having the option to upgrade to an optic later on appeals to me, but not sure if worth it.
My father is 68 and just got his first gun.
We went with a Glock 19 MOS after trying over a dozen 9mm pistols. It was the only one he could operate with his arthritis and get a good grip on.
He is learning to shoot with irons. Though we will go to an optic and cowitness tritium night sights. So that it is old age proof. Along with one of those cocking wing backplates.

How effective are ballistic/riot shields against standard handgun and rifle rounds? (.223 9mm and so on)
Im assuming they aren't standard issue because of size and weight.
Have small bulletproof shields ever been tried? I'm wondering if you could outfit guards with bulletproof kite or great shields. I know I know stupid but I'm really curious.
Why say you guys?
>>31083617
Are you talking about the clear plexiglass riot shield things? Those aren't bullet proof at all, though I would imagine that a weak round like a .22 may have trouble penetrating. It's like an inch of plexiglass so it's not really weak, but it's not designed for stopping bullets.
I guess there are shields that were designed to actually stand up, but the weight increases exponentially. It's pretty much worthless to actually carry one, because then you've got one arm dedicated to holding a huge target while the other is only free to hold a sidearm. If you're worried about getting shot, just put on body armor and pick up a longer range weapon like a rifle. It isn't the 1500s anymore, shields are obsolete in combat. Put on some rifle plates, and plan to hit the enemy harder, faster, and from further away then they hit you.
>>31083961
>It's pretty much worthless to actually carry one, because then you've got one arm dedicated to holding a huge target while the other is only free to hold a sidearm.
Even though they seem to be wielding sidearms that's not the point of the ballistic shield. It's point is to give temporarily cover to the guys with rifle/smgs behind the guy covering them with the shield.
>>31084002
This.
It's like with the Bataclan attackers that barricaded and initiated a hostage standoff. French Swat / military entered and the first person in had a big ass shield that ate like 17 rounds of 7.62x39 or 5.45x39.
I assume that breaching shields like that can probably stop anything of any caliber below 50cal, since they are made specifically for stopping bullets and even AR-500 plates can do that.
