How does /k/ feel about the future of American Soldiers and their equipment?
http://www.military.com/daily-news/2016/02/11/army-plans-to-field-new-protective-vest-armored-shirt-in-2019.html
Older news, but I'm curious none the less.

What's the best .40 s&w pistol on the market?
Is it the glock 23? I always liked those.
the best .40 s&w pistol on the market is a 10mm
>>31075196
>>31075196
That.
>but muh extractor
The force of ripping out the casing is going to be a bit more than when it's chambering the full round.
No Navy officer today has any idea how to operate a multi-carrier group because we never practice it and yet, when war comes, we’ll attempt to operate multi-carrier groups and we’ll have relearn all this shit we knew during WW2
USN is a meme. They're not even trying.
This is based on what exactly...?
>>31075037
What situation would actually require multiple carrier strike groups?
>>31075037
I'm sure you would do much better anon
How would I go about finding what type of weapon was used in a particular Civil War regiment? I had an ancestor in the 6th Missouri Cavalry (Union) and i was wondering what type of carbines they carried. Anyone know any thing?
The 6th Missouri Cavalry was formed in early 1862, odds are they would have been armed with either the Burnside Carbine or the more prevalent Sharps Carbine as the way progressed
I'm also interested. Corporal in the 56th Ohio Infantry.
>>31074886
Spencer Carbine.
Can I shoot with y'all?
>>31074809
No, but can I shoot at you?
>>31074809
Nah
>>31074809
We need more Creepy Cooter, just love the character.
How did EOtech become so popular despite it's thermal drift issue?
>marketing
>military contracts
>they look scifi as fuck
>>31074489
Because for 99% of users it was never an issue.

what went wrong here
what's the best defence against this kinda thing
He got separated from his buddies and got INTO a killzone that deprived him of 90% of his view of his enemy.
He had, at most, a 50% chance of even seeing his killer before he got blasted.
He had no cover, no line of sight, and was up against a veteran with an >high capacity assault rifle while he had at most 15 rounds in 9mm. Even if he landed 3-4 shots center of mass on the shooter he was still going to die. I wonder how long it took him to realize he was fucked.

>He got separated from his buddies
This is it. Strength in numbers.
I want a revolver that can be passed down to my kids when I have them. What is the most high quality revolver that is in 357 or 44 mag.?
I would also like for it to be practical, something they could actually carry if they needed to.
I do not car if the gun has more then six shots however I would like there to be no less then six.
I was thinking about a Dan Wesson but I have little to no experience with what qualifies as a "Quality" revolver, so any help would be appreciated.
>>31074467
s&w or colt.
Dan Wessons made in Monson Massachusetts are solid. The cylinder stop spring does have a tendency to wear out and can cause throw-by over time.
>>31074645
What makes a quality revolver "quality"?
Also what does that mean, i know about semi-autos I do not know about revolvers.
The standard types of things that men, and more powerful women, might carry could be too heavy and cumbersome for some smaller framed girls and guys.
So what would you suggest such individuals carry?
Testosterone pills, a FAL, and 20 mags. Git gud.
>>31074414
You mean child soldiers? A few mags and some water
>>31074414
> carbine rifle
> a few magazines
> helmet
> canteen
> randoseru
So when will they be weaponised? Replace that camera with a pound of HE and you have yourself a problem.
They're called remote guided missiles and you're about sixty years too slow
>>31074301
it's actually called loitering bomb, and it's not that old.
>>31074279
Just a reminder, threads like these are actively getting drones banned in some areas. You idiots keep hurting yourselves
Is there any reason to use AK over any other platform?
>>31074189
yes
>>31074189
yes probably
>>31074189
Clearly
What's /k/'s opinion on having the first 1 or 2 shells birdshot and the rest of them buckshot in a HD shotgun?
>>31074176
Stupid as hell, friend. You're assuming you'll have more than one shot. If you have to shoot someone, go hard.
>Birdshot
>HD
Never ever.
you should only shoot someone you intend to kill, and if you attempt to kill someone, you absolutely need to succeed.
Not sure if this goes here or on /diy/, but here goes:
/k/, I'm looking to build a potato gun, purely as something to do this week. How do my /k/ommandos think I should build it?
Self bump of shame...
Can cannon for maximum funzies. Fits taters as well as tennis balls. If you're gonna make it yourself then use starting fluid instead of hairspray.
>>31074608
It will burn the threads on the end cap and will blow out. Ask me how i know.
I'm finally leaving cuckifornia and plan to move to a free state. wife wants to move to washington. Are they as shit as I think they are?

The worse the grade the better the state
>>31074155
Yes, stay far away from Washington.
Sup /k/ I just traded my an SKS for a GEW. 88. Does anyone know where I could get ammo for it?
I know you shouldn't use modern high pressure rounds in it since its old.
I'm debating on handloading but I can't really find any info on how many grains or anything.
Also, would 8mm Turk surplus be any good?
>>31073880
take a picture of the top of the receiver and left side of the receiver and Ill give you the run down.
I have owned 4 of those and shot 3 of them.
>>31073880
oh, and Turk 8mm surplus is good ammo for cheap --- it will go bang and is much less likely to hang fire than the Yugo crap.
However, with surp 8mm getting expensive you're better off paying the extra few cents a round (its not like its a semi auto) and buying new production PPU and then saving the brass to reload.
