Does anybody know any good books on the art of doing studies, that said, books covering a good mindset for getting the most out of a study?
>>2685366
I've heard Drawing lessons from the great masters is a good book, but really the best advice is to be curious as a child, explore the world and be interested in how things work, how they come together, what was the old master experiencing while drawing this line etc.
Da Vinci said "the noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding."
>>2685366
watch noah bradley's art camp video on master studies it's one of two free videos from the art camp series on youtube. that's should get you on your way.
>>2685366
Just have a "focus" for each study. Choose one aspect of the image you wish to study, and try to analyze that portion entirely. If you want to study colour, then don't worry as much about the drawing or design in it, just focus entirely on the colour relationships, the hues, temperatures etc. If you wish to study construction then ignore the colour and just focus on building forms out of simpler forms and drawing through objects. Same idea for any aspect of art--edges, values, composition, shape design, texture, materials, anatomy etc
>draw sketch for client
>they say "THANKS"
>never hear from them again
>>2682007
you did it for free?
>>2682007
Dude i used to do that in my edgelord phase. Commission some shit so i could get a sketch and never pay.
Thought it made me cool
You just gave something free art.
not sure if im asking in the right board but im looking for images of japanese videogame, manga, and anime artwork from the decades of the 80's and 90's to use as reference in my drawings.
has it been properly documented or is it scattered between multiple unorganized fan sites?

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

How do you draw hands /ic/
>>2685795
Jesus fuck. Stop asking and do. You won't get better with theory but with drawing actual hands
itt: we draw really bad sonic OCs
its my oc, sonic
he hates mario and is normal sonic
>>2685543
This a great thread to discuss character design!
What is it that makes sonic such an appealing figure to autists?
>>2685681
I always wondered why so many more autistic kids liked Sonic over Mario.
1. Simple as fuck. Design. Easily reproduceable. Mario is also pretty simple.
2. The characters are practically color swaps, so it's easy for kids to make "believable" new characters. Sure, Mario has Luigi as well as Wario, but I don't think it caught on in the same way for the following reason.
3. He's "relateable" to them. Sonic isn't defined as an adult. He's wisecracking and more or less a Mary Sue, so they fantasize with self-insertion. On the other hand, Mario is definitely a grown Italian man with a mustache.
4. Autistic kids loving running around and spinning. Yes, specifically spinning. I don't know why. Maybe Super Mario Galaxy was Nintendo's attempt to tap into the spinning market and net those sweet autismbux.
5. Sonic's an animal, and so are all his pals. They're all different animals despite looking mostly the same. It probably resonates with kids that are socially awkward because they already feel different from everyone else even though they might not look different. They can easily be a different animal just by making a minor adjustment, like mouth=beak therefore, bird.
It's a perfect storm of autism. I'm not sure if Sega's character designers are geniuses or they just got lucky.
I think I've made a discovery, an interesting one.
I was going to make a trump meme, but in the process I've found something more important.
It seems the left part of the brain is the dominant one.
So, I searched a classical sculpture as reference and tried to remake it as working from imagination, starting from the gesture, perspective, doing cubes and shit.
I was remaking the same picture over and over again, using every try as another reference in the process.
The picture was building ok, becoming more complex, details were pilling and shit.
After remaking the picture like six times in a row, an inner voice told me that this was dumb and I should do other stuff.
I simply ignored it.
After a while, somethig weird happened, It seemed as if I were in some kind of trance, the last drawing I was doing something like shaking, my hand started to shake, doing random scribbles, but it wasn't chicken scratching.
My brain was loving it, putting all those little details, and I felt like pilling random scribbles on top of each other.
It was a weird sensation to be honest.
Anyway, I looked at my phone and it was around the hour mark, because that's what the youtuber player mark in the nine symphony of beethoven was.
I dunno, has anyone here experienced something similar?
Only when I'm drunk
pic related
>>2684913
It's a special thing called flow
>>2684913
Yeah, just keep drawing gestures and suddenly I feel I want to do more refined work.
Then I start scribbing at random, simply focusing on the marks I'm doing rather than the things they represent.
It turns out very good. Sadly no pic related since my phone is shit and don't have scanner.
How does one go about making a logo like this? Something for like a comic? What software would I use and what tutorials would I refer to?
god op you could at least post more logos than that
i ain't no graphic designer but- oh hey there's a board for this shit.
>>>/gd/
idiot.
logos are pretty important for a product though~ even i can see that
>>>/gd/ is a better place to ask.
As far as software Adobe Illustrate is standard iirc, but I'm sure any program will do. If you're going to print, CMYK colors and vector support will benefit you.
this is a pretty old piece of mine, i just found it in a folder on a shelf. let me know how i did please
>>2686541
nice, i love it i gotta say i love it very much the colors are epic ! blog ?
How bright is your monitor ?
How bright should it be ? 100% brightness ?
Is setting monitor brightness to 0 a bad thing ?
What about contrast and sharpness ?
Just get a white to black gradient scale and adjust so you can make out each step and have it be a smooth ramp
>>2686441
Usually the ideal point for LCD calibration is 120 cd/m2. Obviously there's no one brightness setting to slap across different monitors with different luminance values. Contrast and sharpness are better left at default unless your monitor does either one poorly.
So I've been a big warhammer nerd since I was a kid, and I drew these Imperial Guard inspired Pictures a few years ago. I've improved a little since then but haven't returned to 40k fanart much, think I have any potential? Soon as I get a new scanner I'll upload newer stuff.
Tl;dr crit me.

Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then hug a kitten for good luck.
