I'm trying to make a child-like version of Finn from The Force Awakens.
I don't think it's good, there's something in the head proportions that aren't alright. You guys mind lending me a hand on this? Would love some critique and suggestions
>>2385869
it's good, proportions are somewhere between chibi and child-like. Not sure what you're going for...
but realistically, the legs are short, kind of more babyish/toddler.
As a stylized thing it's good, like a preschool toy.
>>2385890
I'm not 100% sure either, anon.
Maybe i'm stuck in this chibi-childlike-limbo indeed.
I don't really care, as long as it looks cute. Probably it will look better with texture on it.
I'm just exploring, it just fels like the head isn't as good as it should or could be. Thanks for the insight.
The arms are too long and the legs are too short. But it kinda almost works. It's not bad at all
hello guys I need some help
can anyone link or reference some good female anatomy books?
It doesnt matter if it is realistic or stylized, just recomend me or link some good books

I wish we could find pictures of naked women online.
>>2404083
Read the sticky you faggot. Don't just focus on how to draw women
I've been drawing recreationally (and more recently, professionally) my entire life.
However, whenever I draw it's just some scenario in my head that I would enjoy seeing drawn, or maybe a character in a funky pose to play around with how their anatomy would work. Or on occasion, a loose anatomy/landscape/object study.
However the stuff I draw is always "conceptually shallow" in the sense that I'm not trying to tack some social/political/etc message onto it. I've definitely tried before, but it always feels forced as fuck, like that kid in your highschool art class who just found out about Banksy.
Is this a sign of a weaker relationship with drawing, or is it something that some people just don't do?
>>2404350
That just means that you don't really have anything meaningful to say right now, which is fine. It's better to realize that you don't really have some kind of message you want to convey to people than to trying to tack on cliche bullshit in an effort to appear deep. Try to get more experiences in life and maybe you'll have something to say. If you have had experiences in life then try to sit yourself down and really think about why they were important or how they impacted you. It should come from the heart. (Just an opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.)
>>2404357
It's weird, because I have had quite a turbulent life and currently don't really have any desire to revisit any of it through art.
On that same tangent I'm also not one of those people who will draw something "angry" when I'm angry, etc. I prefer not to dwell on the emotion, because I feel that taking the time to draw it out only prolongs that kind of mood much longer than necessary.
It's been suggested to me to seek therapy for getting more in touch with how I feel/felt about some things (generally I'd rather move on instead of dwell), so maybe there's just a mental hurdle that I have? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
>>2404372
>generally I'd rather move on instead of dwell
False dichotomy. All the more so because "moving on" probably means "ignore, suppress, deny"...
Your experiences and emotions are part of what makes you you, anon. Why deny who and what you are?
I don't care if you put that into your art. Frankly, it wouldn't mean anything to me anyway, as I'm not you.
Everyone always says post your work, but nobody ever listens. Hey, how about a best piece thread? Pic related: my best one so far.
>>2404071
Great work anon.
I love the colors; the subtle shifts between hue and value. A true artist. I can see that the subtle phenomena become clarified through frantic and critical lines, it simply leave with a tribute to the limits of our world.

How do you draw proportions correctly from a reference photo. I'm using a digital tablet but whenever I draw a person, it doesn't look like them. Even when I use a grid, it doesn't look like the person. Is there just something in my brain thats preventing me from drawing like this:

>>2404064
You have a reference. Draw it how it is. Take it slow.
Is doing everything with one brush a good way to improve yourself faster?
>>2402446
You could do everything with your ass if you wanted.
It's not about the tools but how you use them.
the only benefit i could imagine is that working with one brush keeps you from getting distracted/muddying up a picture with 15 different brush settings. might be helpful
>>2402610
Op is specifically asking about a way to use tools. Namely, the benefits of using only one tool. You're an idiot.
hi im new here and it's my first time drawing digitally please rate my drawing

So I bought a huion h610 pro. Works fine, no problems, etc.
So I open the settings and see a "screen ratio" button to set the working area in proportion to the screen. This is where I'm getting confused.
My screen has the native resolution of 1680x1050, which is the resolution it's set to. 1680/1050=1.6, so 16:10 ratio.
The working surface of the tablet 10x6.25 inches. 16/6.25=1.6, so 16:10 ratio.
Since the numbers match, I figure using 100% of the surface is what I should do, but using the "screen surface" button results in pic related.
I feel no difference whatsoever using either ratio. I tried drawing circles, connecting dots, pressing buttons.
Google gives me nothing.
Am I getting something wrong, or is this a known issue?
I'm afraid not finding the correct answer will fuck me up in the long run.
>>2399417
>he fell for the huion meme
use a coin and trace it on a canvas
whichever one looks most like a circle is correct
hope that helps op

Hello, /ic/. I'm desperate.
I moved to a loft in a new city. I'm currently living with my sister. Back in my hometown, i used to draw, paint or photograph my friends every week and now that i'm here i have no subjects. I don't want to draw my sister, and the streets completely deserted and uninteresting. I've gone out to draw a few times, but i haven't been satisfied.
So i normally come home from the university and sit down and do self portraits. I've done oil, dozens in pencil, watercolor... you get it. The point is, i'm getting a bit frustrated with the monotony and i don't want to draw from references online (although i kinda feel i'm going to end up there anyway).
I also don't want to explore abstract art for a while. What do you think i could do? Still life?
I also don't feel comfortable with my sister here. I was used to the privacy of my bedroom.
Pic is a page from my sketchbook.

still life, landscape, view from your window, self portrait, the cat, find a figure drawing class, pay your sisters friends to sit for you, etc.
find a life drawing class
Hey I've been working on stupid parody YouTube videos this past month or so. I wanna share it with people on 4chan but I can't find any boards or proper places where I could post the video I made last night. I'd like to share it with y'all for the sake of sharing it and getting views as well as getting some critique on it so I can work on improving this shit. The best board I could think of is this critique board. So lets make this thread into an original YouTube video board.
>Post your original videos here, give some background on the video and what you're doing and get people to respond to your work.
I made this video last night as I said previously. My friend was looking for something to eat in his kitchen and he couldn't find shit so he was naming off the very few items he has and that included a couple cans of beans. I thought the names on the cans were kinda funny so I had an idea for a dumb video. Let me know what you guys like/dislike about it and how I could go about improving my work. Thanks anons appreciate it!

I made a "storyboard" for one of my classes. The objective was to write a story about a lost dog. so I made a video about a lost dog.
