My Paint Tool Sai keeps lagging. But then I realized the rest of my art software kept doing this. So what could I do so my software doesnt keep lagging when I draw?
I must say your hardware is not enough.
You should post your com spec.

You know, sometimes I get the same problem here and there.
What kind of tablet are you using? OS?
I'm on windows 8.1, Huion.

Hey /ic/ I just landed a sweet position as a grade 6-8 art teacher starting Aug 2016. The school already had an art curriculum set up but I think it's complete garbage. I have a meeting set up with the principal so I can present him with a revised curriculum which I can hopefully get approved.
I'll have students for two classes a week, one hour each class for the semester. I'm thinking of finding a happy medium between atelier style draftsmanship and some fun painting shit so they don't an hero. I want to cut the weeklong sections of sculpture, abstraction and mixed media like paper mache and scratchboard. I want to focus on pencil and charcoal still lifes, staring with basic shapes, moving into basic perspective and finally basic figure drawing. Thoughts?
If you could go back to being a 6-8th grader, what would you have liked to do in art class?
>>2399599
people here have come to the agreement that if you become a teacher is because you have failed, i'm sorry OP enjoy your money i guess.
The problem is kids are dicks. You gotta have to get them to like you before they even try to do art.
>>2399599
I'm flashing back to art class back when I was in middle/high school and...
and I remember it being treated as a worthless subject that the kids loved because it was essentially an extended lunch break where no one really did anything and the teacher didn't care. public school is shit.
good luck, though. it's nice you want to actually teach them things. hopefully they actually want to learn it. should prob include a basic intro to color imo.
Is there any high resolution scans out there of Kim Jung Gi comics? I'm pretty sure his stuff is popular in Korean, so i'm assuming some scans are out there in korean sites
So do any of you have it?
It's on korean sites

can you link it please?
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up( or do what am i your mom?).
AVOID asking unrelated questions, There is a question thread for that.
Visit the usual "Art book Thread" to find your desired books.
Do not forget to PLEASE RESIZE and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.

Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless. (hint: post something against the rules if you want to be banned)

So I really want to git gud here. Want to be able to draw both from imagination and reference.
Everyone here says study Loomis... but I am struggling with this book. Is it just a rough place to start? Do I need to still be using real faces as reference in conjunction with his exercises? I can copy his drawings, but I don't have a directory of facial features in my head to add on to a basic sphere (even if they are simple).
look at "figure drawing; design and invention" and "constructive anatomy"
loomis's prose makes me question whether he was sane, and fun with a pencil is ridiculous.
>>2401121
One thing you should perhaps work on first is your ability to draw from observation, consider "Keys to Drawing"
>I don't have a directory of facial features in my head to add on to a basic sphere (even if they are simple).
Just ignore the part where he suggests you make up your own, or don't and expect them to be shitty, but accept the fact that everything you draw is going to be shitty for a while.

Kill yourself, my man.

right on, thanks m8... been working with keys to drawing already. So I'll def keep up with that.
So you feel that adding on more imaginative stuff is more feasible after a good basis in observational drawing?
So, I need advice. In the beginning December I was commissioned for an adult piece. I asked the client to pay the $120 up front in full and he did. Since then I'm honestly been pretty sick and haven't gotten a chance to sketch anything for him. This morning he sent me an e-mail saying if the image wasn't done 100% by Thursday he was going to report me to PayPal.
Should I be worried? I mean, since it's adult art something that is illegal on PayPal he can't even report me can he?
How about you do what you were paid to do anon

How about you act like a responsible adult running a business and communicate with your fucking client?
I don't even believe this is real so fuck you, 4/10, made me reply
What do I do once I can draw accurately from life?
I've been deconstructing objects and I've gotten better at it, but I'm not perfect at it.
I believe that with 2-3 more months of this I'll have a decent amount of control over what I see and what I draw on paper from life.
What I want to know is this. Once I'm at the point where I'm good at deconstructing objects, can I start deconstructing more complex objects like human faces, muscles, etc?
Or would that still be too soon?
Where do I go once I don't draw symbols anymore?
Should I pick up a book on perspective or should I learn about the planes/dimensions of what I'm drawing before I can put it in perspective on paper?

Why did you seriously feel you needed your own thread?
Go to the help thread or the beginners thread or something.

Considering I'd have to radically puncture myself to contract it I'm not all that worried. I've put 50+ hours of work into this so far and I haven't injured myself yet.
This is actually pretty cool. To take something deemed very unpleasant to work with and turn into a detailed art piece is impressive!
Seeing as "symbol drawing" is seemingly the default response to anyone who isn't good. How the hell do you "not" symbol draw? It's easy to say "just learn how to draw in 3D/perspective, draw what is actually there/what you see.
Problem is, If you're drawing what you see, and it's still looking like a symbol, what the fuck are you doing wrong/how do you fix it?
There's such a vagueness with criticism on this board that this board needs a massive overhaul.
>>2393197
Oh look, this faggot again. If your drawing looks like a symbol you are symbol drawing. That's the very definition of symbol drawing. It's not vague in the slightest. You fix it by training your eyes, preferably by drawing from life. A lot.

>Oh look, this faggot again
.....what?

Same picture post, same symbol drawing denial. Don't think we wouldn't recognize you buddy.
How do people do that thing where they pick a certain object to fill it with a single color?
The software I'm using is Sai btw
You mean the fill/bucket tool?

holy moly i'm your first view.
saging and reporting though bc this doesn't belong on /ic/
Do I really need to learn Loomis before I can draw from my imagination or create characters? I really am not that good at creating but I'm sort of ok at being a copymachine. That's not enough is it. Pic not related.
>>2402702
You have to learn how to feel the form, experience it in order to convey it convincingly.
You have a lot of options besides Loomis, we just only said it always because is the most classic and easy to find in the internet.
You can try George Bridgman, the Draw with the Right Side by Betty Edwards if you are a full noob, Michael Hampton, etc.
And yes if you want to draw form imagination you have the learn that way, but what you get is to be a copy machine as you mention, in fact it is neither good or bad, but it has its disadvantages, such as when you want to do something you're bound to have a reference, which means eventually you'll lose time looking for the right to copy, when you could just build what like using your knowledge and use references to what are, for referrals.
