do you need to talk anon? Maybe there is an anon who wants to listen.

But I actually want a solution for my issues not just shout "normies reeee" and continue in the same conditions.

holy shit that much for some bent bars? also is that suppose to look like something, a swan? I could get something better looking at wal-mart.
Is that even a sculpture? It looks like something you would fasten to a wall to hang plants.
This has got to be a joke.
I don't have a tablet but i'm doing basic line art with photoshop using some tutorial I found.
I know I can do better though, and photoshop isn't the best software to use.
What free software should I be using to draw things like this without a tablet?

trying to make money via commissions, but it's kinda hard to do cheap commissions when your arts shit because you don't have the money to buy the tools required
You'll want to be doing vectors if you don't have a tablet. You can use Sai if you're poor (I havent used it personally) or Illustrator if you have some income/dont mind pirating.
Please rate my manga.

shit panneling. there is no sense of flow. 3/10 for a manga but it would rise to 7/10 if you called it a comic

So I'm traying to paint in SAI but I can't quit get the hold of it, my painting attemps come out as muddy.
Is SAI even good for painting or is it ony good for flat colors?
Any medium can produce muddy colors, it's in the hands of the artist.

Up the edge hardness, turn off the 'blend' option in the advanced settings (the normal blending slider should be enough), and set minimum density to something like 30-40 if you really feel the need to.
>Draw circles all day
>Totally stopped doing still lifes
>Have just been practicing circles from the shoulder for 1 hour for the past 2 weeks
Is it a waste of time? Should I move on?
Yes, given that I don't understand why you would even do this
>>2420627
It's so much fun.
Literally just play a bunch of music and test your co-ordination for an hour and get better at it.
>>2420627
depends. post your circles
How many of you are planning to spend your entire life drawing?
Are you putting all of your chips in art?
Has anyone in /ic/ managed to buy a house or a car while making money as an artist?
I'm genuinely curious to what prospects one will get by dedicating their life as an illustrator.
oh shit wrong image
pic related is the op image sorry for the fuck up

Absolutely disgusting.
YOU GOT NOTHING
Kids in /ic/, always remember to take art as no more than a hobby and not something you would dedicate your life onto. Not a single soul in /ic/ makes more than minimum wage doing commissions. You've been warned
Hopeful drawfag who think theyre going somewhere always end up in suicide. That's why you don't see some of them anymore.

Hey guys, this is a wip but I'm saying the background is done and is at a professional entry level. Before I move onto the main guy which is just a silhouette right now, do you guys think the background is finished and at a good level of polish too?
You'polished it too much. It's gunna look cheesy.
>>2421892
Background looks only marginally more polished than a basic block-in. I wouldn't call that finished yet.
>Before I move onto the main guy which is just a silhouette right now
This is my biggest issue right now. Did you do value and color thumbnails to figure out how the figure will work against the background before you went and painted all that background? Do you know if your composition will work, your values and colors will work, and that everything important reads well?
I can say right now that I'm not liking the composition. You can practically draw a line right down the middle and you have two separate paintings, a dragon on the right and a scene on the left. Reminds me of those LoL splash screens. Those tend to have a very pre-packaged composition that's just too formulaic. Those types of compositions with the character on the far right and a vast, empty environment on the left might work as a desktop wallpaper, but not much else.
>>2421903
I didn't do thumbnails, only a rough sketch. But I was going for a splash screen. Sort of like those promotional posters for online games. I want this in my portfolio so it needs to be as professional as I can make it. I don't like these kinds of things much either but if it works then I will do it. I will work on it some more then and see.
Anyone else substituting achievement in your career or social life for trying to get good at art?
>look at those stupid tryhard faggots pulling in 100k with 2 months vacation and beautiful wife and kids while I'm stuck in a dead end job making 40k with 3 weeks vacation and constantly having to reject the advances of 6/10s while constantly being rebuffed by 7/10s. At least I have art.
>>2420936
Pretty much yeah. Maybe if I get half decent at art my life won't be a complete waste. I doubt it though.
You've described the past five years of my life perfectly.
>>2420936
If your still pretty young and making over 40k a year you are doing half decent
If you were to start a webcomic, would you upload weekly/bi-weekly, or would you upload batches of pages all at once? I feel like the former gives you more exposure, but the latter makes for a better reading experience, and I was wondering /ic/'s thoughts!
Also, does /ic/ recommend any comics? Picture, uh, unrelated, haha.
>>2421675
There's a comic thread already. Also, most webcomic creators upload one page at a time. Some do it once a week, some bi-weekly and there's one who uploads a page a day from Monday to Friday (with pretty good art as well0
Which one are you most comfortable with? If it were up to me I'd upload a bunch of pages or a chapter at a time rather than page by page.
>Also, does /ic/ recommend any comics?
I've been reading these:

http://www.minnasundberg.fi/comicindex.php
Those two (^) are by the same person

http://www.praguerace.com/
>>2421675
You definitely want to have a regular upload schedule, doesn't matter if it's once a week or bi-weekly or even 3 times a week, just have a schedule and stick with it. You want your audience to form a habit to come back to your webcomic every week whenever it updates. That's how you get people invested and best case scenario, they start talking about your webcomic, discussing what's going to happen next week etc.
Uploading webcomics chapter by chapter is usually a bad idea, because most people will simply forget about it between one batch of pages and the next. Unless of course you can go full mangaka mode and work 13 hours a day to consistently upload a finished chapter each week.

Hey dude you should really read Christ-chan
Hey /ic/
I've been trying to be more aware of my drawing habits recently and I noticed a distinct modal shift, probably due to fatigue, where I just start mindlessly drawing heads or cubes or whatever. I've been noticing it more and more since I started taking ibuspirone for my anxiety but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Have any of you experienced anything similar? What is the solution?
>>2417350
You just have autism.
>>2417350
Doodling is without purpose, it's just supposed to be fun. If you want to prevent drawing without purpose you need to give it purpose, just think of a concept, mood, ANYTHING before you draw.
And stop making your own threads.
