4 months of work, restarted god knows how many times, but the end result I would consider art.

nice craft dude nice
def not art tho
I think it is, but I understand, kinda new and dont know where to post though.
I've read loomis, tried photo studying, pose studying, did gesture drawing and I still do them, but no matter what kind of body I draw, it always looks wrong to me
Like...
> I find a drawing of a female body, really well drawn
> I perfectly trace over it, look at what I traced, it's shit
Why is this happening !? It's as if I hate everything I draw...
Also, what's the best / fastest way to learn how to draw bodies ?
>Where is the magic shortcut?
There is none, anon, really, there is no magic shortcut. You just have to draw more to gain an understanding of the body.
Without that knowledge you gain by drawing a lot more, your traces will look shit.
Draw more bodies. Seriously, that's it.
Draw a body, spend some time identifying what you think went wrong. Draw again. Rinse and repeat.
I'm still shit, but I'm less shit than I was and I imagine I will be less shit going forward. Just don't stop.

Dude, it takes years to get a handle on this stuff. Stop being a weak minded pussy and go draw.
How do you go about studying a head reference? In my class at the moment we're partnering up with other classmates and drawing their heads. I'm finding it difficult to make a head that actually resembles the other person, but a head which does indeed look real and well-proportioned. I just can't seem to match the features I'm staring straight at.

Those heads are fucked up haha
Loomis. Hampton. Etc.

I’m currently trying to do a series of photos using a nude model as a subject for the first time. The one major issue I have to work around is the available space to shoot in, which is more or less like an 8x10 room. This makes it a bit challenging to get shots in which the subject is entirely in frame, as well as severely limiting the possible arrangement of lights. This also makes it a bit harder to find poses that do not look totally out of place or just strange.
I've rearranged/removed objects in the room a few of different ways, but in my opinion the majority of the ideas I have thought up are not resulting in very many usable photos. These are a few examples of what I’ve shot up to this point. I’m planning on taking more tomorrow, . Since this is something I have literally no experience with, does anyone have any suggestions on how they would utilize this particular setting?
if you wanted nude pics of a fat chubby guy why didnt you just use a timer?
>>2426288
In all seriousness, you should make it more apparent that you are using a male model because I don't think I've ever seen anyone shave their entire body that well.
Practicing learning how to draw people..what can I improve?

Is drawing a good hobby for the morbidly obese?
I volunteer with a service that sends people out for a cup of tea and to just have a chat with people who can't leave their homes and never have human interaction, mostly just sad old people who never got married and don't have kids and all their friends are dead, but last month I got assigned to a 600-ish pound guy. He's pretty good but the thing is he can't use his arm to draw so everything he does is with his wrist and he loses his breath and has to have oxygen if he exerts himself that much. Last week I was afraid I accidentally was going to kill him after I suggested it.
Is it worth trying to get him to use his arm The whole thing is bumming him out, and you can tell his lines look like shit because they only go so far and aren't very dynamic. We both know it but i don't know what to do. Is there like some sort of little rolly thing we can put under his hand to support that and his arm? I only bring this up because when I was in grade school I made something like this for an invention project to keep my hand from rubbing across and erasing erasable pen and pencil drawing and writing (i'm left handed). I'm also afraid the diabetes is going to take his arm but one step at a time.

It's times like these where I am grateful I have the ability to do what I love and draw. Poor thing, I would certainly recommend it as he will get into a mind flow and forget about all the troubles for a brief moment even if it is just for a moment it'll be just him and the canvas and whatever he's drawing.
Go for it
>>2425344
Absolutely. If he likes to draw and he's good at it encourage him in every way you can.
Its perfectly fine if he can't draw with his arm! Jeez, if he has no interest in being a professional it means nothing. Let him draw with his wrist.
Drawing has helped me learn discipline and has taken my mind off of impulses like eating, maybe it could do the same for him. It only makes sense. Please keep encouraging him to draw if he likes to do so.
if he's not already drawing on a larger surface see if you can get him one, something he could more easily slide his arm across, sure it might make his work more messy but he'd be able to get more arm motion in there when he needs it (i only use arm motions for certain longer lines, for everything else it's mostly combo of elbow/wrist/fingers)
Mfw I can't draw
How can I get the spark?
Stop drawing anime.
Get your ass into basics. Don't touch any of that cartoon shit until you've gotten your fundamentals down.

Everyone see Art diffrent
Art is objective, that is true. But there are certain color patterns, subjects and compositions that resonate with the viewer better then others. Meaning, even though all art is subjective, and everything is art, some work will always and undoubtedly be better then others. Thats it basically. Thats how this whole thing works. Your picture, although it is art, is bland and un-interesting, unoriginal and un-creative. It's shit
>>2423886
>some is undoubtedly better
I'd say better is the wrong term to use there.
More appealing and technically skilled, yes. But better would be personal taste. For example I prefer a picture of a black and white square over anything by kim jung gi. I find the simplicity far more appealing so I'd say its "better". However technically speaking its nowhere near as impressive.
>>2423886
>art is objective
how is it that the as the fact of plural perspective becomes more and more obvious and unavoidable that people more desperately cling to the antiquated notion of objectivism for subjects that constantly and consistently shake off every attempt at an objective analysis?
Draw this pose from a different perspective.
challenge accepted
>Oiled up chick.
What kinda porno shit is this
It's a complex pose granted, but that photographer has little idea what he's doing.
someone's calling out Irakli on level up.
my sides.
Beautiful.

It's a facebook group called "level up!". Join and search "gumroad".
Can we all just agree that although it's nice to have the spark, we can make it without it if we try hard enough and don't have a mental deficiency
>>2425385
lol you do realize the spark is a joke right?
I don't pay attention to crap like 'spark', 'passion', and 'I was meant to do this'.
I enjoy art. Sometimes I don't, most of the time I do.
I just fucking hate everything else as a career. So Art it is. Not that complicated, right?
You've mistaken something anon.
The "spark" isn't some metaphor for creativity or passion.
The "spark" is your ability to keep on going despite the challenges or despair. The "spark" is what keeps you drawing when everything turns out as shit. The "spark" is what keeps you going, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health.
You don't make it without the "spark", however, there are some who go their entire life without realizing they have the "spark". The "spark" does not care for itself, the "spark" will help you selflessly without you being any the wiser.
Sometime you ink is refilled and you have no idea why, some days you wake up motivated to draw, other times a mistake suddenly looks like a blessing. Its at these times you realize the "spark" isn't just walking beside you, its been carrying you all along.
