Is Proko's premium content worth the money? Are there other online structured premium art lessons that are beginner friendly that /ic/ can vouch for? I think i could benefit from a structured learning environment but with attending college and working both full time i don't have the time to invest in full time art school. Thanks

For about 300$ you can get a yearly newmastersacadey subscription. Currently doing that right now and find it extremely help full. Definitely worth the money and vilppu is one of the teachers. I'm a beginner, site is made for all levels of skill.
>>
Proko is a good teacher, among the best; I'd say it's worth it, but also New Masters Academy has very good teachers as well like the versatile Sheldon Borenstein. Proko's content is available to you forever if you buy it, NMA is a subscription based model. You're getting your money's worth by far either way in my opinion.

>Requests for free work of any sort are forbidden.
>free work

remunerated requests aren't

What challenges and obstacles are present in the journey of being a creative professional?

How do you view the difference between a "creative vocation", like a designer, artist, musician or dancer - and a vocation where creativity isn't viewed as a main tool or focal resource, like advocacy and engieneering?

Music, art and dance aren't a necessity, professions like engineering and medicine are.

Any chump can pick up a pencil/instrument etc and dick around, whereas legitimate vocations require significant specialized training to do properly. No one conducts cardiothoracic surgery as a hobby.

There is bad engineering and bad medicine but even a urinal can be considered art. Conversely, it's easy to know whether you've 'made it' as a professional in such careers. Incompetency in art can be considered subjective.

That said, there are a lot of seemingly 'non-creative vocations' that actually require plenty of creativity. Once you're heading your own lab and have designated all the grunt work to techs, PhD students and postdocs, it's all creativity at that point. We wouldn't make strides in science and technology if creative people in these fields didn't exist. I would even include design under this.

Entertainment has value, but not as much value as penicillin. One type of vocation is a luxury whose existence is dependent on the other creating a stable, comfortable, survivable life/economy/society.

Is drawing a good way to get rich? I am not thinking about photobashing or doing that kind of stuff, I mean pure, godlike skills. I know those are hard to achieve, it takes time etc. but I like to draw and I really want to get rich. I dont have anything else to make money from anyway.

No, it's not.

Stop talking about your mom like that.

I think I've burned myself out. I've drawn hundreds of boxes and constructed hundreds of heads. In short how do I get back into studying? I sit down with pencil and paper and I am blank. It hurts on the inside because my passion is there. My motivation is not.

You need a project maybe, when I get pissed off or bored of studying or struggle to pick a study topic I work on my comic or my monthly themed drawings , you should probably be 50-50 between study and finished pieces time wise otherwise why study?
>>
find what you love and draw it. Let that lead you towards a larger project
