They looked at a map and saw how vulnerable American control of the Philippines made their position and attacked with the conventional wisdom that America was a weak and decadent nation that lacked a strong will to fight. Had they consulted with members of the diplomatic mission to America they would have learned about how America's traditional isolationism and resentment over the resolution of ww1 made many Americans very reluctant to enter war again, and how Americans would not take kindly to being backstabbed.

This is a major problem with a military dictatorship.

Typically that only gets brought up if some moron is acting as though this social construct has some sort of inherent validity. Pointing out that it's a social construct is pointing out that it doesn't have inherent validity, and you'll need to make an actual appeal to demonstrate its validity.

Denying the holocaust and questioning the historical narrative of the holocaust are not the same thing.

I believe the holocaust happened because there is a ton of evidence and eye-witness accounts, though I also believe the Jews have widely inflated the actual numbers of dead for political reasons.

If course, openly stating either is considered "anti-Semitic"...
