Invading Russia.
>>
>>1877663

Relied on a blockade to bring England down instead of just building up enough of a fleet to invade them directly.

Being a disgusting liberal

Believed that Austrians, Prussians and Russians could be civilized.

That was the plan until Trafalgar.

The guy didn't do any mistake and Russia happened too late to really be significant. He should have invested much more in his Navy to control the eternal anglos. Withotu their support, continental powers would have either submitted or negotiated accordingly. Many people like the Poles, the Serbs, the Bavarians and many other dissatisfied peoples would have been happy to cooperate again their own monarchy even if it meant becoming a client republic. Couldn't work on the long term, sure, but Empires are naturally flawed anyway.

Spanish Ulcer, Invading Russia while dealing with the Spanish Ulcer. Wasting troops on Haiti that could have been used during the Spanish Ulcer (ultimately, these troops wouldn't have been because he should never have tried to troll Spain with the abdications of Bayonne).

And after Trafalgar, to a lesser extent, he had a HUGE shipbuilding program. But back in 1806 or 1807 they reported that they wouldn't be ready to tackle the RN for another 10 years at least, and he wasn't patient enough to just wait it out, he had to have his continental system NOW.

Shouldn't have gone into Spain.

Did he drain every future Italian of their military acumen?

should've steamrolled into the Ottomans and liberated Constantinople instead of searching for death in the frozen lands of Rus. The little cunt could have made Europe great again.

The Berlin Decrees, they had a little impact upon the British economy, certainly not the impact he wanted, then the British retaliated with trade deals of their own which significantly reduced the amount of imports/exports from mainland Europe. This resulted in the French economy suffering heavily.

You could also argue it's not what Napoleon himself did wrong but his opponents. Wellington and Nelson were formidable on their respected fields of battle. He could not be everywhere at once so the large scale of fighting, especially in the Peninsular War and then Russia resulted in him stretching his forces to thin, could be argued he was forced to do this by Brits and Spanish guerillas.

Also he was against the structured class system in France, yet he declared himself first Consul, later Emperor. Greed consumed him.

Uneducated retard please
Napoleon's blockade was the retaliation

>As a response to the naval blockade of the French coasts enacted by the British government on 16 May 1806, Napoleon issued the Berlin Decree on 21 November 1806, which brought into effect a large-scale embargo against British trade.[1][2]

Yes, but what made Napoleon move from Boulogne was the declaration of war of Russia, Austria and Prussia. Which he met, and pushed back until Austerlitz.
>>
>>1878594
The declaration of war happened before Trafalgar, while Austerlitz happened after it
I get what you mean, but you should have said "until the Austrian campaign" rather than "until Austerlitz"

>What did he do wrong?

Fell in love, tried to be an admiral with no training or skill, never forgot italian roots and sacrificed much to build up italian nationalism, insisted that eastern Europe is Europe (it isnt in most regards), tried to bring Britain down within his life time instead of taking it slow, consolidating, attacking later or his successor attacking later on better terms.

Human, all too human.

That's nice if you can interpret words. Keep up the good work.

Dude basically lucked into the best chance to become a Caesar-like figure and impose hegemony over the entire Christian/Roman/Western world between Charlemagne and Hitler. Hard to blame him for aiming for the highest possible personal gain, I guarantee you couldn't find one man in a million who wouldn't do the same in his circumstance.

Continental blockade was not enforceable because a. coastal states relied on trade with Britain and b. most independent European states other than Russia were on cold terms with him because of the execution of Enghien, embarrassment of Francis II.

Unless he planned to defeat constant successive coalitions of every other European state (which perhaps wasn't out of the realm of possibility at this point), he'd need to make concessions with at least Russia (which broke down because of Poland and the Russian economy was especially hit hard).
