Most of Jesus's diatribes seem to be delivered at the priesthood in Jerusalem and the Sadducees in general. They were something of the collaborationist party in 1st century Judea. So my vote would be with the guy in the middle; he was more against the conventional religious establishment of his day, which was viewed as abnegating to the Romans.

Monotheism is incompatible with polytheism in most senses. The one you state is not the primary reason, but rather one of a multitude of reasons that caused their persecution.
Also consider that the relationship of the state with Christians was better or worse depending on the time period and the area, so not always was there a need to change anything.
