Is the dominance of the American Empire today analogous to the rise and dominance of the Roman Empire?
>that pic
Not really.
The US never really financed itself with foreign occupations the way the Romans did. Most of them were money sinks.
The US is more of a hegemon than an empire, in the strictest sense.
>>2077421
it's more accurate to consider "the west" as analogous Rome then a single part of the West

Both towns were legitimate military targets anyway
People need to stop being autistic about this
Nuking a city and fire bombing it makes hardly any difference.

Why do angels say "do not be afraid!" when they arrive to people in the Bible?
Do they look horrifying?
Because they're Nordic aliens from Plaedes
You'd be scared too if some autistic Swede woke you up in the middle of the night saying he has a message for you from god

Why are they so superior to east Africans and southern Africans?

Managed to advance into the iron age directly form stone age. This didn't happen anywhere else.

>Why are they so superior to east Africans
If that includes the Northeast, they're not really.
>and southern Africans?
Southern Africa wasn't integrated into the Afro-Eurasian trade (except the Swahilis and Zimbabwe) so they didn't have the cultural or economic stimulation that West Africa did. Agriculture also took hold much later there, not reaching the fertile Rift Valley highlands until around 500 BC when West Africa was already developing stuff like the Nok Culture. West Africa was also tied together by river systems (Senegal-Niger-Benue) which encouraged the integration of cultures into larger regional economies and political systems, while Bantu Africa was much more disjointed in comparison.

Redpill me on the execution of Nicky and his family /his/, did they deserve it?
didn't the gommies admit that it was a bit of a fuckup
Nicky did.
Thousands of people were murdered by his government for political reasons.
The rest of the family, not so much.
>>2076939
Maybe if Nicky hadn't been, "BUT MUH SERB BROTHERS!" and just not gotten involved in WW1 because you know there are problems with your military if you got BTFO by Japan.

What is /hist/s opinion on centrism? I personally agree with it very much and feel it is the best system a large society can obtain.
>>2076855
This world is black and white, we have no room for grays like you.
In all seriousness people need to learn to compromise in order to function well in government, however on a personal level centrism is just someone who is afraid to say one way is right. As long as there are objective truths there will be a "best" way to do something. Being a centrist you are always wrong because you are generally riding the middle and will be relegated to the dust bin of history cuz eventually one side will win.
Hold firm in your stances but allow comprimises for the greater good is what I say.
What's the middle of the road position on people demanding that the public school system teach creationism? What's the middle of the road position on whether or not AGW is real and how to deal with it? How do you handle business interests wanting to totally abandon the minimum wage while people who work low skill jobs want it increased?
Centrism is nice as a general idea but many of the issues that come to dominate politics are pretty either or.
>>2076855
In academia, political centrism is god tier, as you actively and dispassionately need to evaluate political matters without bias (Jordan Peterson comes to mind in his evaluations of Ideology).
However, centrism seems to spin its wheels in all other respects. even in the first point. If, in the course of one's studies, begins to move either left or right by means of objective evaluations and unbiased research, one should not force one's self to remain in the center, because that in it of itself is morally and intellectually dishonest and may reflect badly on later work.
In short:
Bad: 1.Right/Left in, Right/Left out.
2. Center in, Center out
Good: 1. Center in, Right/Left out.
2. Right/Left in, Center transformation, Right/Left out as a result of unbiased centrism and study. (much harder than #1, I speak from experience)
This principle applies to everything, including academia, politics, especially when studying politics, philosophy, and history. Do not force yourself to remain neutral, if you move in one direction or another, simply remain honest with yourself and others, and continue to pursue what you find through unbiased study to be the objective truth. It's hard, but telling the truth is rarely easy. whatever you become, know that there can be no compromise on basic moral principles.

Why is Logic considered a branch of Philosophy?
>>2076574
because his rhymes are too complex for the common man to comprehend
>>2076574
It is actually a branch of mathematics.
>>2076685
Isn't Mathematics some sort of applied Logic?
>During World War II, the pathfinders were a group of volunteers selected within the Airborne units who were specially trained to operate navigation aids to guide the main airborne body to the drop zones. The pathfinder teams (sticks) were made up of a group of eight to twelve pathfinders and a group of six bodyguards whose job was to defend the pathfinders while they set up their equipment. The pathfinder teams dropped approximately thirty minutes before the main body in order to locate designated drop zones and provide radio and visual guides for the main force in order to improve the accuracy of the jump. These navigational aids included compass beacons, colored panels, Eureka radar sets, and colored smoke.[9]

what does it means?
>>2076457
Basically this.
>>2076457
The Anglos had some problems with the Irish throughout the history before they conquered them so they had reasons to dislike them. So they invented this theory.
>>2076457
It was just another way of dehumanising the (Catholic) Irish, so the the (Protestant) English/Scottish could feel better about themselves for taking their land, massacring their people, and treated them like they treated every other indigenous race they encountered around the world.
Isn't Socrates somewhat irrelevant compared to Plato and Aristotle?
kinda
>>2076260
>Isn't Plato somewhat irrelevant compared to Socrates and Aristotle?
Sort of. He's the symbolic figurehead of western mythology, his trial and conviction is basically the creation myth of what would be the face of the western philosophical tradition.
Personally I agree with Nietzsche that he fucked everything up.
