He was so right about everything he spooked philosophers for decades to come.
>>
>>2177929
marx debunked him less than a decade later though
>>
>>2177947
>debunked him
And yet he was so incredibly hesitant to publish that debunking
Stirner scared a lot of prominent thinkers, rightly so.
>Karl Marx: like Nietzsche's, his reaction to Stirner deserves to be emphasized here, owing to its era-forming impact. Marx believed as late as the summer of 1844 that Feuerbach was "the only one who had achieved a true theoretical revolution." The appearance of »Der Einzige« in October, 1844, shook this outlook to the core, because Marx very clearly experienced the depth and implications of Stirner's criticism. While others, including Engels, initially admired Stirner, Marx saw from the beginning in him an enemy who needed to be annihilated.

>Marx had originally planned to write a review of »Der Einzige.« However, he soon forsook this plan, instead choosing first to wait for the reactions of the others (Feuerbach, Bauer). In his polemic work, »The Holy Family. Against Bruno Bauer and Company« (March, 1845), Stirner was simply left out. In September, 1845, Feuerbach's criticism of »Der Einzige« appeared -- and at the same time, Stirner's brilliant reply to it. Now Marx felt personally provoked to intervene. He interrupted important, previously commissioned works in order to storm upon »Der Einzige.« His criticism of Stirner, »Sankt Max,« which was full of invectives directed at the "flimsiest skull among the philosophers," turned out to be even longer than »Der Einzige« itself. Yet after the completion of the manuscript, Marx must have wavered again in his choice of tactics, as the criticism of Stirner remained in the end unprinted.

Marxist commentator Matt Christian says the backbone of every fascist movement has been middle class religious people. Not the elites, and not angry workers, but comfortable conservative churchgoers willing to use violence to assert their way of life.

Historically, has this actually been true?

>>
>implying muh glorious proletarian uprising in Russia wasn't fostered by middle class as people
>>
>>2184551
Actually the backbone of every fascist movement have been the poor workers and peasants. Look at German elections for example - the average Hitler voter was poor, rural and protestant, while the urban middle classes voted for either conservatives or socialists.

In the rural italy everyone was either a socialist or an anarchist(just like in spain), the backbone of italian fascism was in fact the middle class.

Do appeals to emotion count as an argument? Because it seems like this guy uses a lot of emotional rhetoric in the place of an actual argument.

When did the secularization of states begin? Was it the age of enlightenment?

What where the effects? Is it true that Europe/the West only dominated the world after Religion got btfo?

Also, Is having a state curch or a state sponsored religion a sing of not being secular?

>Also, Is having a state curch or a state sponsored religion a sing of not being secular?
Being as though being secular is lacking any religious basis, yes.
>>
>>2182641
Afaik England (not the UK) and Denmark are the major example for this. Would you say religious freedom is not granted in those states or that religion has a major impact in the policy and laws of those states?
Their society is entirely secular, so im inclined to call them secularized states non the less.
>yes, I know a catholic cannot become king of England

>at where the effects? Is it true that Europe/the West only dominated the world after Religion got btfo?
not really. The importance of religion rose during the 1500s, 1600s and even as late as early 1800s for the last time but yeah, I do suppose one of the deciding factors for the west blowing the fuck out of the rest of the world was secularism

Can we seriously stop with this "Hitler was evil" meme? How can any self respecting historian reduce a complicated topic to banal black and white buzzwords.

Everyone who knew hitler said he was a very nice person and a very respectful gentleman. He honestly did love his country with all his heart and was a patriot who wanted the best for his country.

Sure he wasn't perfect and made many mistakes, crimes even. But he was in a very very tough situation, and he tried to make the best of it and do what he believed is right. The enemies he was facing, like Stalin and Churchill, were far worse criminals, and the combined allied bombing of Germany and Japan resulted in far more civilian deaths than the holocaust.

Hitler was not the personification of evil. He was a man who loved his country who made som bad and ill thought out decisions in very tough circumstances when he was facing far worse opponents bent on destroying his country.

Oh well I guess you're right. He may have killed millions of people but if he was a nice guy then he can't really be evil.

Without the Second World War we may have not gotten nuclear power, so we would have gotten our energy from burning coal and wood, nice thing about the nuclear power is that we can bury the nuclear waste that will become harmless in couple of hundred years and when that is happening we can try to create fusion reactor.
Imagine if 60 000 0000 people that died in the Second World War didn't die 70 years ago, millions of them would have gotten children and they would have gotten their own children, their homes would have been powered by coal and wood destroying ecosystem or they would live in medieval era without energy.
Thanks Hitler for a decent present time and future.

I'm trying to find evidence of medieval axe beheading executions being done in this way with a hammer being used to pound the axe butt. But so far most sources I've found seem to imply that it was done with just an axe which makes no sense to me. The hammer and axe method seems much more likely since it ensures the execution is done more professionally, and a miss could still be a quick fatal blow through blunt force.

Is this a relatively new finding in the history of capital punishment, or is the artist just taking liberties?

That is not going to cut anyone's head off. That's going to sever his spinal cord at the neck and imbed itself halfway through his esophagus. He's gonna die, but it's not going to be instant or painless, although the pain is going to be just at the severed nerve endings still attached to his brain.

Just for the fact that they were everything an empire should be. They also had a pretty badass fighting force, and I could even go to the point of saying that they were the best cohesive force pre-1900. While they did not have the whole education centered mindset, their engineering skill was superb and many of their constructions are still here today.
