How honest and objective are these measurements? Is it even possible to determine which society, region in the world, civilization contributed to getting us where we are (in terms of knowledge, HDI and so on)?!

Khristós Anésti! My name is Ken Alexios Constantine
I’m a 27 year old American Greco-Philos (Greek fan for you Xenos). I draw mosaics and religious portraits on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Byzantine games. (Tzykanion, Chariot racing, Hippodrome series)
I train with my Mákhaira every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is from Anatolian iron, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.
I speak Greek fluently, both Koine and Tsakonian dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Roman history and their Imperial code, which I follow 100%
When I get my Byzantium visa, I am moving to Constantinople to attend a prestigious Acadamy to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an artist for the Hagia Sophia or an Imperial Courtier!
I own several paludamentis, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Greece, so I can fit in easier. I salute my elders and seniors and speak Greek as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.
Wish me luck in Constantinople!

About to read Yōjo Senki since it's got an upcoming series. Anybody read the manga?
The trailors and stills show that it takes place in both ww1 and ww2, so i'm wondering if it's a reference to a specific person or something.
It shows trench warfare and the Prussian helms in the trailer
Seems like most of the narratives depth will be on career, so i'm really curious to see if there are any direct allegories.

How did the Israelis get their asses kicked so bad in this battle that they lost 400 tanks in one day and had to go begging the Americans for an emergency airlift of new tanks? Do Israelis actually suck in combat when they don't have complete air dominance?
They were surprised, plus proliferation of ATGM's.

Egypt actually had a functional military at the time. Like, for two days until the politicians started meddling and they squandered the advantage they had gained over the Israelis.
anti tank grenade missles
Is there "a quiet racism extolling the abilities of the Old World peoples and implicitly denigrating the accomplishments of New World indigenous peoples." ???
>>2182050
It's more like how McDonalds has a "healthy" portion of their menu but they make the real money off Big Macs and french fries.
>>2182050
>accomplishments of New World indigenous peoples
What accomplishments would they be?
>>2182050
Have you ever actually met someone who believes native Americans are primitive savages besides random internet trolls? I have been told by liberals that such people exist and are the majority, but at this point they are beginning to seem like the chupacabra.
The modern bias is overwhelmingly in favor of new world peoples, even in the 50s the natives were presented as sympathetic (if stereotyped) characters in cowboy movies when in reality they were a bunch of thugs little different from the white man. I see "hunter gatherers lived in harmony with nature and didn't chop trees down", "tenochtitlan had 300000 people, more than any european city at the time" and "the incas had a sophisticated government and an education system" everywhere even though these things aren't really exceptional.
What the fuck was their problem?

Ming, though whoever had the Romans made a good run before they went afk
Its commonly accepted by historians that Hitler and Napoleon where controlled by the player. Others are more disputed.
Looking at the map is it possible that Greek colonists mixed with local people and is it possible that people in these areas could still have Greek genes/ features?
The Kalash in Pakistan claim to descend from Alexander's army, but genetic testing found zilch
Not really
Greeks were so xenophobic that they just brought Greek wives with them

Misunderstood twisted fucking psychopath
Russian Leader
Was he a genius, yes
Is he misunderstood, yes
Was he twisted, fuck yes
Was he a psychopath? I personally don't think so, just as I don't think Stalin was a psychopath.
Here we go again.
The Aztecs practiced human sacrifice in order to preserve their empire. Because they ruled hegemonically and oftentimes left conquered nobles in power, their imperial cohesion was based upon a perception of power. If a tributary rose up in rebellion, they would often crush the rebels with brutal, overwhelming force in order to terrify other potentially recalcitrant tribes into submission. This fear of retaliation was largely based on the Aztec Empire's performance in war.
Many times in the empire's history, a weak leader or failed military campaign would result in secession from some of its conquered provinces who sought to take advantage of the empire's weakened position and fight for independence. As such, the Aztecs expanded into surrounding territories carefully and almost always with superior numbers. By sacrificing captives of war in massive ritualistic shows of strength, the empire effectively held itself together by inspiring fear in it's potential enemies, and awe in it's citizens and allies.
