Why is it that women are always so quick to have sec with and form relationships with the soldiers that occupy their country and killed their fathers brothers and husbands? This always happens throughout history don't they have any sense of honour or loyalty to their country? How can they live with themselves after making love to a soldier occupying their country?

is this going to be another /r9k/ ingroup/outgroup preference thread?

why are men always willing to have sex with females they just conquered? why are they so disloyal to their women back home?

it's a two way street isn't it?

Women are more nature than nurture. Therefore more amoral.
And they're their own worst enemies.
They're the first to realize that.

What's really sick is women do not even enjoy the end result they create: a world of rapists and nerds.

Do YOU think some races or groups of people born in other geographical areas are in a sense better than others? We group the theory of evolution with animals and how if they're in different ecosystems they (over time) develop differently. Why can't we put that same logic to humans? I would assume that after a few thousand years into future (if we're still alive) some humans would have some sort of change right?

Because its unethical and racist.

I don't think you answered my question. Do you think that the theory of evolution applies to us? Do you think that over time groups of people in different environments develop advantages and disadvantages?

Yes the fact that white people in just 300 years are able to easily thrive in Africa and Australia makes them superior designs to African blacks and Abos who took millenia to do so.

Who was the most ambitious person in history? Ambitious as in not only conquering huge pieces of land, but in pretty much everything, from art to science or to just accumulating power, etc.

Some examples out of my mind are surely Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great (he pretty much became the measure against which leaders compared themselves) and to some extent Adolf Hitler, Leon Trotsky (ambitious, but not impactful), Pyrrhus of Epirus, Alcibiades, Napoleon etc.

I don't add religious figures, as it's not confirmed if they were real or not (Jesus Christ in a example) and as they probably didn't really expect they will have such a huge impact in the world after their death.

Gautama Siddhartha

He wanted to end suffering for all. Supposedly became enlightened and surpassed the Gods and the universe.
>>
>>2227280
Ambition is of course is the first step Pratchett, but it doesn't mean jack shit if you don't have a good work ethic and most important of all, luck.

I'm sure they're plenty of people who would like to be billionaires, but they don't do anything to make this ambition become a reality.

Why are religious figures any less likely to exist than non-religious figures if we have the same amount of historical record of both? Jesus was found in the dead sea scrolls btww

If the Nazis had won the war all it's leaders would of been assassinated or slowly pushed back into irrelevancy and the military castes that ruled Germany prior to the war would of, at least tried, to recover their power.

Most people followed the Nazis not out of love towards them but out of spite towards the Allies, and in big part due to being ignorant of the concentration camps.
I'm not sure if the Kaiser would of been restored but some people would surely have tried.

Doesn't this sound like the most likely scenario to you? At least more likely that all those dieselpunk dystopias that even serious history sources like to portray?

Some may argue that this is not technically history, but I'd argue it is since this has been a topic of contention in Turkey for well over 30 years and now similar claims are being made by very respectable figures in the US, UK, etc.., it's now germane to a discussion of any modern government in the interests of placing proper historical context.

It's also not a "conspiracy theory" theory since Glenn Greenwald-- in my opinion among the few ethnical journalists left (along with Raimondo from antiwar com and a few others) treat it as a very serious subject.

If you are not familiar with this, it's the idea that we have now seen the full flourishing essentially of what Eisenhower wanted about in his farewell address-- the full rise of "Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex" (as it was written in his speech but he decided to cut out the final term at the last minute.

Thus my question-- since the 1950s, and esp accelerating after 9/11 do you think it's fair to say the US now has a de facto "Deep State" just as Turkey does, with Byzantine layers of useless bureaucracy who stay in power regardless of who is elected and in many respects hold the true power regardless of who is elected?
I'm a 3L at a t-10, and I made the argument for this in an international law class. The professor did not disagree with me. I didn't ask him for book recommendations (and didn't want to give impression I don't have enough work or would have been signaling to him to pile on more and would have earned ire of the class), but curious what some of you think of this idea that Glenn Greenwald, Justin Raimondo, and a few other very credible journalists have been circulating-- that the Us has had a de facto "Deep State" since the 1950s and the pace has only accelerated after 9/11 until now the US is little better than Turkey, and the current proxy wars between US tel agencies illustrate this. Any thoughts?

Before any might tell me "antiwar.com" is not a serious site for news, I'd refer you to the late, tremendously respected Chalmers Johnson who said it was the first thing he read every morning and I quote: "I've come to the point where I no longer read the NY Times or Washington Post for the news-- I read it for the lies. I go to the antiwar.com if I want the truth." If any don't don't know, Chalmers was a Korean War vet who taught Intl Relations at UC Berkley and was a consultant for the CIA for a time, along with writing 3 bestselling books on the coming decline and fall of the "American Empire."

That's what I'm thinking as well. We now have this entrenched...I know I'm repeating the phrase, but I think there is no better adjective than "Byzantine;" this entrenched layer of essentially useless lobbyists, contractors, administrators, who now form essentially a class of their own in the DC suburbs.

I'm very ambivalent about Trump, but I think Greenwald (who is among the most liberal journalists in the world and was the only journalist Snowden trusted to get his story out) is definitely correct in that were are now seeing a proxy war within "The Deep State."

If anyone is interested, this is Greenwald's most recent article on this phenomenon:

I'm doing light research on 16th century warfare, since the period inbetween medieval swordsmanship and later napoleonic musket warfare, is deeply fascinating

When exactly did the major switch from swords to muskets happen? Are there any battles where muskets and swords were used side by side, or is it a more sudden switchover where the first side to use muskets wins until the rest can catch up, like with tanks in WW2?

As much as it has been western tradition for the last 200 years or so. We don't live in a completely logical cold world.

And if we do we are not smart enough to be able to fully make sense of it.

That sounded pretty autistic. Put in different words: Just because it's logic to humans doesn't mean it's logic in the real world.

Well, I just assumed that they probably have less influx and outflux of people, since it's so Mormon, which would mean most people wouldn't want to move there, and most of them wouldn't want to leave. I thought that was a good way to develop an accent, and quickly. I admit I'm not very knowledgeable about it, though.

>hur hur western culture is so masculine and straight
>mfw people actually believe this

>Given its breadth, the ramifications of male sodomitical practices touched all Florentines in one way or another. So famous was the city on the Arno for promoting it, that in Germany, homosexual sex was described by the verb florenzen, and in France its was called "the Florentine vice."...

>In a phrase destined to become one of the more renowned in Renaissance studies, Rocke describes the omnipresence of sodomy in fifteenth-century Florentine culture: "In the later fifteenth century, the majority of local males at least once during their lifetimes were officially incriminated for engaging in homosexual relations." In this simple and carefully worded statement lies the basis for a radical reappraisal of sexuality in early Renaissance Florence. Sodomy, rather than representing a dusty and esoteric corner of historical analysis, moves to center stage. No longer can modern binaries emphasizing heterosexual relations be taken as an unquestioned given. We must realign our sights on the past, taking into account the cultural norm produced by homosexual relations in early modernity. Another of Rocke's conclusions follows from this . Male-male sexual relations were not eccentric, but they were in fact important constituent elements in the production of Renaissance masculinity and therefore contributed fundamentally to the shape of public life in a broad sense. For the condemnation of homosexual relations did more than yield interest for dowries and build communal brothels, it also structured social relations, and most importantly, relations between men.

When did you realize that artistic cultures are always fantastically fucking gay?
