Because recent settlement. Arizona doesn't have an Arizona specific accent either.
>>

Neither does Connecticut.

Or colorado

Or ohio really...

Just listing off states that I've spent long times in an noticed no specific slang/accent
>>
>>2226243
Well, I just assumed that they probably have less influx and outflux of people, since it's so Mormon, which would mean most people wouldn't want to move there, and most of them wouldn't want to leave. I thought that was a good way to develop an accent, and quickly. I admit I'm not very knowledgeable about it, though.

Ohio is literally the default American accent you hear in movies and news.
>>
>>2226302
Lol "default"

It's when people learn English they get to select which state they want to learn slang from.

Ohio is defaulted option
>>
>>2226302
Hey, so is Indiana.
>>
>>2226320
Probably. Generally the area from Nebraska to Ohio, lower midwest if you wish. Upeer midwest (Minnesota, Michigan etc) already has a noticeable accent pattern.
>>
All the great MURICAN news anchors are from that accentless Midwest region.

>Upeer midwest (Minnesota, Michigan etc) already has a noticeable accent pattern.

Yeah that fucking quasi-Canadian Fargo bullshit.

>Oh yah, my sister, she lives in Kenooooosha Wizconsin oh don'tcha know...

Howdy y'all!

Utahns tends to have a very neutral accent really.

Or they pretend to sound like they are.

I'm fascinated by how the American accent morphed from British in such a short time. What's interesting to note is that American English is more closely related to Early Modern English (such as Shakespeare) than the standard English accent is today.

Normal american accent covers most of northern u.s.

Theres only southern and British. New york is italian english.
>>
>>2227899

Normal American accent covers most of the country. Even in the south, the southern accent isn't as widespread as you might think.
>>
>>2227870
British accents evolved more in the past 300 years.

Quite.
