How would and or should a Fascist country work? I'm currently writing a story which involves a Fascist nation in relatively modern times. I'm not trying to write some jerk me off Nazi fanfic, but trying to get to the core of what Fascism is or was. If you need more info on the setting I'll say as much. I just want to gain some perspective on how a Fascist nation works, and how would it go about working in practice.
>>2223973
extreme nationalism that can be racist (hitler) or non racist (mussolini before he had to suck hitler's dick)
>>2223985
There is some racism, but not really genocidal. They feel themselves more culturally superior then racially. So there is stuff like segregation but their not genocidal.
fascism just means the central leadership, which has the power to declare war and to execute criminals, has no accountability via elections or other democratic means. otherwise, the government could operate in any way.
historically i believe fascist countries typically tried to foster a strong sense of national pride and identity. could be based on ethnicity, pseudo-ethnicity (e.g., whiteness, head shape, etc.), religion, or some other core belief
Who really invented the burger? As an American this question has haunted me my entire life.
It's an american take on a german dish created in New York (check?) by a german cook. He made patties out of ground beef and put them between sliced bread with mustard.
>something as simple as the burger needed to be invented
American education everyone

This.
> no one has ever minced beef and then fried it ever before in history
Laughable.
Was he really as bad as they say?

Now he wasn't perfect, war on drugs and bombing Cambodia, but it sucks that watergate is what most people remember about him. He was a good president

Topic: The death penalty
I do not think the death penalty should be used as punishment in any crime, as it may sentence innocent people (no justice system is perfect, after all), regardless of how sure we can be of others sentenced (pic related, this guy's conviction is the definition of "beyond a shadow of a doubt").
I don't oppose the death penalty out of moral reasons. I don't think killing is wrong here. The reason I don't want innocent people (innocent under any specified legal system), living in a system where they may wind up on death row, by committing a crime sometime in the future or by being falsely convicted, is because I happen to be one of these innocent people, and I don't want the state to openly have the power to kill me.
Tee bee aytch it's only moderately worse than life.
And the people you see on death row are always there for like raping and murdering a six year old. Some people just deserve it.
Theres worse criminals than that kid
>kill black people
>death sentence
The government shouldnt have that power imo, no one should be legally able to kill beside james bond
>>2223686
>I do not think the death penalty should be used as punishment in any crime, as it may sentence innocent people (no justice system is perfect, after all)
I agree. Also the death penalty as currently practiced in the US is more expensive than life imprisonment. If we are to have a death penalty the appeals process would have to be simplified and death sentences would have to be more quickly followed through with, which increases the risk of the first problem.

Can anyone educate me on late 1800s early 1900s Ireland? Why did the rising happen? what sparked Irish ultranationalism? How was the war of independence won? Why did a civil war follow? How did the famine, etc effect all of this?
Please no biased "le potatonigger" replies
>>2223348
Can any irishmen ITT show some basic economic learning and list a substitute good to potatoes?
>>2223357
I said no meme responses
>Why did the rising happen?
It was believed that the Home Rule issue would be ignored if they didn't so anything and that there would never be a more opportune moment to strike given that Britain was distracted by the war.
>what sparked Irish ultranationalism?
The militarisation of Ulster Unionism and how the British government turned a blind eye to it
>How was the war of independence won?
Guerilla warfare
>Why did a civil war follow?
Ideological disagreements among the figures of the war of independence
>How did the famine, etc effect all of this?
The famine caused a lot of discussion about land ownership and British treatment/neglect of Ireland. It also basically wiped out traditional Irish culture and language and a lot of nationalist groups like the IRB were very concerned about this

Can the >Holy >Roman >Empire and Kebab Empire be considered the succesors of Western and Eastern Roman Empire?
>>2223061
kebab empire was pretty much successor of the entire roman empire since unlike the unholy germans, it was an actual functioning empire not a weird league of nations thing. Also it succeeded rome as the dominant power in the mediteranean.

Guenon then Evola. I'd reccomend reading some of the vedas before Guenon though, particularly the Baghavad Gita and the Upinishads because he makes a lot of reference to Hindi scripture in his theories.
>>2222944
is Guenon even a traditionalist, in the sense that Evola is a traditionalist?

As much as I hate to say this, Extra History made a good series on ww1 that shows he was actually a pretty good person.
Is virtue ethics really the best, and most widely applicable system of ethics? I haven't seen any other that is as flexible and seemingly simple to internalize.
I took an ethics class and I liked Virtue Ethics the most out of all the other types.
>don't just do good deeds, be a good person
>>2222469
So this is a really complex subject.
I don't think it's the 'best' but all corners of ye olde ethics triangle have issues.
For Virtue Ethics it comes down to inflexibility and the risk of viewing one's self as primordially correct. This leads to abuse of position and frivolous claims of misconduct (see: EPA under Reagan). Moreover, a person may want to do good but not really have any functional clue how to be good. Virtue systems tend to devolve into circularity faster than deontological or utilitarian systems. The simplicity of virtue and it's location based context don't render it effective for more complex decisions across cultural concepts. "Fair" isn't always fair, for example, monetary recompense for the loss of cultural or historical items or landmarks. In an administrative (business or otherwise) context this becomes much more of a problem because it gets hard to distinguish where the private citizen and the private employee starts or ends. Self-righteousness can therefore lead to undermining organizational codes and goals, even if actually in the best interest of the serviced.
Deontological arguments suffer from the same rigidity just in a different direction. Organizational rather than cultural. On the other hand, utilitarianism simply can't be qualified outside of small-scale cultures, and can suffer from unrealistic or unsound propositions (same expectations of "happiness" and "benefit" between different groups...again this brings up the problem of culture, though it's a super flexible system).
An ethical actor should be virtuous but not ONLY virtuous. One needs to be incredibly reflexive if they're going to root action in a single corner of the ethics triangle.
What is vitrue ethics solution to this?
Why East-asian countries are now developed nations ?
Why asian immigrants integrate themselves better than the rest ?
I know this is a culturalist argument, but really what can explain that ? Confucianism ?
