I'm getting really bad performances on my GTX 1070. According to this : http://otakugame.fr/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/08454592-photo-geforce-gtx-1070-battlefield-4.jpg I should be getting more than 150fps on average on BF4 in ultra @1080p, however I'm getting around 70-110. Also, Rust doesn't even reach 60fps on ultra, with drops into the 20fps. I saw people with the same rig as mine getting 70+fps on ultra. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled it but it doesn't change shit. Also, the card reached 77°c at full load (EVGA GTX 1070 SC), haven't seen any review of this card reaching this temperature.
I don't know what the fuck to do. My PC :

i5-4690k
8gb Ram
SSD 850 evo

Running any intensive background tasks maybe?

Check your CPU clock speeds. Maybe overclock it if not already. Make sure power saving is not set to power saver. Set it to balanced or performance. Run Afterburner and check GPU load. If it's spiking up and down it's most likely throttling for some reason. Use driver uninstaller to clean out the drivers and reinstall. Make sure nothing is hogging trhe CPU in the background.

What is the point of having a desktop again? I'm a software developer for a living, don't play video games, and all the heavy number crunching is done by a server. I use my computer basically as a way to write messages (emails, IMs, etc), to look things up on the web, and to use a text editor to modify code.
Is there a point to getting a desktop? If the point is gaming, I'm still undecided, since modern games seem like rehashes of older games. If the point is screen real-estate, I think an argument can be made for that.
My budget right now is ~$700, and will go up to about ~$1,000 if I wait another two weeks for my next paycheck (have bills).

Windows 10 cucked me. It decided to install an update, and upon return of booting up my computer, I get the error message "MISSING OPERATING SYSTEM"
tl;dr Windows 10 just deleted every one of my personal files, which none I lost since I back up, but either way.. What the fuck
Now I want to install Windows 7, since this isn't the first time 10 cucked me out of my own install. What updates do I untick in Windows update and which ones are safe to tick from now to the future? I hear some of them install the Windows 10 style telemetry and if I'm going back to 7 I might as well free myself from that fiasco

Is this update fake? It seems sketchy because I've never gotten an update given to me like this on my phone since i got it last December. I did also get a sketchy scam job offering via text with a tiny url which I've heard was a malicious text.

I've never owned a mouse before. All my life I've been saddled with second hand laptops and used the touch pad for everything. This summer I've saved up enough cash to build a new computer. So I need a mouse and a keyboard, too. I do plan on playing games on my pc but I'm not going to be going heavy or dedicated gamin because work.

Depends on what you use your current OS for.
If you just browse and play vidya it's doubtful m8.
If you're in to programming, and aren't tied to windows by some software, I'd recommend switching to a new OS.
