>tfw you finally got your linux install working just the way you like and don't need to tool around with it any longer
Anyone else know this glorious feel?
ive known that feel for a long time
set up arch how you want it, everything just werks, been using the same installation for years
I feel that 80% of criticism of Linux is because of its setup, including hardware problems. Once you're past that point, it's generally smooth sailing.
Not a Linux user but I'm finally content with the way my browser and 4chan looks and it feels gud.

This

>>56990568
it's also because people fall for the /g/ meme of using debian garbage, and the ancient kernel doesn't support a lot of newer hardware
>>56990545
the first two are because the faggot forgot to screenshot in png and the last is subjective.
I know this feel right away because I use Open BSD which is sensible by default
yeah I did that with an ubuntu mate install recently
> install slackware 10
> load up fvwm2 and xfm
yes
>>56990455
No and part of the reason I refuse to install linux is because that's where I would want to be and I don't have 6 months of full time dedication to get there.
I really dig Manjaro. Glad I tried Linux again. Dropped Linux back in the early 01' since I had no use for it. Worth the attempt considering Win10. Things have improved quite a bit in over a decade (almost two really).
I always get sort of depressed when I'm finished setting it up how I like it because that's half the fun
>>56990455 Yea, got the same feel when bought a macbook.
>>56990455
Yes. That and the feel when something bothers you but you just let it be instead of fixing it because its not worth the time.
>>56990455
Yes, been using arch for years and after the initial setup it's been great and easy to use.
>>56990455
How long would you say it takes? I want to switch to linux but I don't want to spend a week tweaking with shit to get it working the way I want. I was able to do it on W7 in about 4 or 5 hours
>>56990528
The funny part is, i can't do the same with any windows version and some fag dare to call it comfy.
>>56992116
if you know exactly what you want to do and how to do it, then it takes no time at all
>>56992116
How long is a piece of string? Obviously depends on what you want to do.
Although I'm a massive casual compared to most people here and I found it easier and faster than my recent W7 reinstall's, I did spend some extra time messing around with splash screens, launchers and themes but that was just a bit of fun afterwards.
The 3 I've got set up are OpenSUSE, KDE Neon & Ubuntu, I didn't customize anything with Unity obviously.
>>56990455
how does it feel that 90% of all software will not work with your system?
>>56990532
What browser is this? 4chan plugin?
There's nothing more boring than having linux set up perfectly with all problems ironed out. At that point you have no other option but to mess around with it until you break it. Then you get to enjoy fixing it again. I thought everyone knew this.

install gentoo

AKA Ubuntu GNOME
>>56990455
Yes. After 10 minutes when Ubuntu is installed.
>>56990783
That depends on the user, if you're customizing your distro way too much after installation, you should look for a distro that better fits your need.
In my case, I just install xubuntu, change it to a dark theme, install guake, cmus, configure keyboard audio hotkeys for cmus and I'm usually done in under 30 minutes.
>>56990528
That's also a problem with windows, anon. Unless you're using stock programs like IE and whatever they have for a mail client nowadays.
I don't see your point.
>>56990528
What he said...and if only I could drop my windows OS from my gaming setup I would be orgasmic..
Still hoping steamos does something but beginning to feel it's bad news
>>56992116
If you're new, you could probably set up Debian in a day, but it might take up to a week to iron out things that go wrong.
>>56990455
>tfw addicted to ricing
I shall remember this day as the day when /g/ was sensible
>>56990455
Yes, until the next major upgrade breaks the desktop environment and bluetooth. Windows is even worse these days, QC seems to have been dropped in favor of more manpower to rearrange the start menu layout and updating the UWP mail app.
