>DDOS is still a thing
Why isn't computer security mandatory in school? DDOS is only possible because normies install a lot of botnet.
ISPs should also be able to temporarily disable their costumer's Internet connection if they suspect they're part of a DDOS, send them a mail explaining why their connection was temporarily disabled and what they should do to remove the botnet and how to prevent it from happening again.
>inb4 shit countries like india and africa still making ddos possible
In case of a DDOS we could just unplug the cable connecting us to these shitholes and nothing of value would be lost.

PSA: Your laptop may come with a preinstalled surveillance appliance that can be used against you.
Don' buy laptops by Lenovo, HP, Dell, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, and Asus if you have to deal with sensitive data.
And install nixos. It's worth it.
Preytell, who then should we buy from

Okay I need your help /g/. I cracked my Galaxy S7 (not the Edge) screen yesterday (yes it was in a case) and I believe it doesn't have long to live. I'm a broke-ass college student and take afford to get it fixed. Could you guys recommend me a cheap but good replacement?

Redmi note 3 pro is excellent and super cheap.
Do you increase the size of text on your computer?
Is it a disgraceful sign that you're getting old or is it actually the superior choice for reasons that I can't think of?
I just wear my glasses at the computer OP

Hey /g/ I'm looking for a free offline GPS app that doesn't track/log me. Is this possible given the nature of GPS or am I retarded. I suspect this is possible if the app doesn't have access to the internet even for updating. Thoughts?
>>57176168
>gps
>free
>doesn't track
Are you retarded?
>>57176374
Well all the app should be doing is receiving a signal from the satellite. No reason to communicate outwards as far as I know. Are there paid apps that meet these parameters?
>>57176402
Maps.me, if your autism level is high enough you can get AFWall and block the app from accessing the internet. That's if you're on android.
How are some people getting under 300MB of RAM used?
I'm using i3 and I had nothing open except for Clementine and I'm using 1GB of RAM
git gud
Can't be too hard. I've just got plain Xubuntu installed and I'm using about 500MB even with Firefox. Kill Firefox and it drops down to 250MB.
a large chunk of that 1 gb could be just kernel cache
How did you learn to solder?
I want to learn since there's so many things I could accomplish if I did.
>>57176046
I grabbed a soldering iron.
Burned my fingers to a crisp desoldering stuff.
Fixed a few things that needed fixing and thats it.

H-how?
Why does every pizza place only have non-free pizza?
Where can I get libre pizza?
>the nonfree.pizza meme still exists
yeah, why can't people just let me have a product of their labor for no reciprocation of effort on my own part?
>>57175858
It's the libre way, anything else is immoral. When I create something useful I'll do the same so it's worth it.
A massive name resolution shitstorm is taking place worldwide as we speak, with multiple DDoS to DNS servers across the world happening right now, and /g/ is completely oblivious to it. Not a single thread in the catalog about it.
Are you fucking stupid?
There are like 10 now. God job.
There's nothing to discuss
So my pic related died few days ago.
A month after 2year warranty period. Not buying anything Palit related ever again.
I wanted to upgrade anyway and decided GTX 1070 is the best choice for my budget, still very expensive to me but I'm ready to pay more and futureproof myself at least a little.
I entertained the idea of 1060 but decided against it.
Since 1070 aren't the cheapest cards out there I want to make an educated purchase and wondered If /g/ could assist me.
Please keep in mind that I use 1080p 60hz monitor, which I might upgrade to 1440p in the future, I own closed case without windows so I don't care about LED and visual stuff. What I do care Is power consumption (the less the better) ,quietness and good price/performance ratio.
I wanted to get MSI Gaming X 1070 but apparently there has been official msi statement about some of them being faulty and they pull their China produced GPU back from the shelves. Now I think about EVGA, ASUS or Gigabyte G1, but it seems to be disliked by many people for its noise.
Could you help /g/!
t. Anon form /v/ who did his babbys first build 2 years ago and has a lot to learn.
tl;dr:
>anon is a newfag
>GPU died on him
>Needs new one, 1070 seems cool
>Which non-referent GTX 1070 is the best?
do research
Evga 1070 black edition iirc, needs 1x8pin connector vs 2x8 on other Evga models.

Why is this allowed?!

just disable it
