I always hear people shilling for Atom and how awesome it is.
I use vim and i like small expendable editors, so i thought that the name Atom sounds lightweight and the UI looked clean too.

But then i looked at https://atom.io and read:

“Atom is a desktop application built with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Node.js integration. It runs on Electron, a framework for building cross platform apps using web technologies.”

WTF is this shit?
Why do so many people think that it's a smart idea to build a desktop application like a fucking website?

HOLY SHIT! LINUX CONFIRMED FOR CRAPWARE, HOW ARE LINKEKS EVER GONNA RECOVER FROM THIS?

>This is an ancient bug that was actually attempted to be fixed once (badly) by me eleven years ago in commit 4ceb5db9757a (“Fix get_user_pages() race for write access”) but that was then undone due to problems on s390 by commit f33ea7f404e5 (“fix get_user_pages bug”).

>In the meantime, the s390 situation has long been fixed, and we can now fix it by checking the pte_dirty() bit properly (and do it better). The s390 dirty bit was implemented in abf09bed3cce (“s390/mm: implement software dirty bits”) which made it into v3.9. Earlier kernels will have to look at the page state itself.

CHECKMATE GAYTHEISTS

Got pissed at Firefox the other day and decided to give Vivaldi a try again. Can't remember when I last tried it, but I'm kind of surprised by how much they get right atm.

Here's an overview that helped me discover a few features, like tab stacking:
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2016/04/even-at-1-0-vivaldi-closes-in-on-the-cure-for-the-common-browser/?comments=1&start=40

Any others that are following it's development and trying it every now and then? It makes me kind of sad that what I assume is a tiny team manages to make something that out of the box has a better UI than Firefox.
