The AI-box experiment is an informal experiment devised by Eliezer Yudkowsky to attempt to demonstrate that a suitably advanced artificial intelligence can either convince, or perhaps even trick or coerce, a human being into voluntarily "releasing" it, using only text-based communication.

According to the wiki Yudkowsky succesfully managed to be released in experiments where he acted as the transhuman AI against human gatekeepers who said they would not release him. However, he won't reveal how he did it but the "humans" admitted they were coerced into letting the AI out.

Speculations on the method used?

Anyone else with these feels? I'm more interested in the concept of having a computer set up to do Serious Work™ than I am of actually doing it.

I`ve done exactly what you assume you will. Still curious to give it a legitimate try out just because, maybe one day I`ll play around with some potato PC in earnest.
>>
>>57480215
I've played around with potato PCs. I installed CentOS 6 on a Dell Latitude c840 with 1gb of ram and a Pentium 4. Also installed Lubuntu on it.

Both times I just got done and went "well, I guess that's nice" but I've never done anything with it.

I put ubuntu on an athlon 64x2 system with an ssd to dink around with while waiting on a motherboard. Was comfy, watched some videos, but mostly scratched my head on how the hell anything worked.

I feel like something that is less aesthetically similar to windows might be easier to learn since when they look similar, yet fundamentally function very differently, it becomes frustrating when things aren`t in fact the same.

>>

Using other's shittily built tools is always like that. Shit is ALWAYS poorly documented, never follows its fucking dependencies close enough, buggy because it was written by a retard that can't invert a binary tree, and there is no hope of it getting better because it has momentum and there aren't enough intelligent people in the industry.

The only way to rise above is to make equally shitty tools that makes sense to you and that you have control over.

Basically I see two paths in ML/Deep Learning right now. They aren't well-defined but rather a loose hunch of what I see.

ML Engineers: Use ML algorithms, big data technologies to solve business relevant problems. There are tons of books, blogs and resources to get started. Minimum requirements are programming abilities in Python, Java, R, etc. or an ability to learn. Additionally basic knowledge in Statistics.

ML Researcher: Pushing the bounds of ML knowledge. Produces things industry has yet to adopt or is actively adopting. These are academics. PhD students, or PhD holders. Require solid foundation in mathematics/statistics and specialization in a ML field.

I'm a high school student working on creating a neural network to solve the rubiks cube. I know it's a long shot but do you think it is practically impossible since I'm going to have 40 thousand billion billion different possible inputs? (all the different legal cube configurations)

So, I'm buying a new computer.
This will be my first experience with UEFI. How is it different than BIOS? What do I need to change to avoid problems? I know disabling Secure Boot is one thing.
39 posts and 8 images submitted.
>>
Well if your wanting to keep using Win 7 you'll have to disable it and use standard bios in order to use the Daz Loader. Daz Loader and UEFI don't mix. No biggie, all uefi is good for is if your wanting a 3TB+ drive as your boot drive.
>>
>>57478794
If using linux you need to specify your efi boot partition. Other than that disable secure boot in bios and enjoy faster boot times.
>>
>>57478877
How do I do this? Going to be installing Fedora.
