amada keeps you warm
It will throttle at 110, you need better cooling

Speccy does not report temperatures on modern AMD CPUs and APUs. They do not have a temp sensor on die.

No, stop talking out of your ass.
what is the best python editor? I use IDLE because im new but I hate the bright white colour.
>>57730229
Geany. Or Gedit, literally THE best
>>57730229
IDLE is bundled together as a simple code editor for Python. Just Google for code editors, and try out what works for you.
Get out before you get memed by Vim, Emacs, Sublime Text, Notepad++, Atom and all the shit flinging.
>>57730256
Geany is da best
Are chromebooks any good for college with lite gaming on the go? I heard you cant use browsers like Firfox on the chromebooks. I already have a good gaming desktop.
>>57730169
Bump
>>57730169
if you install linucks on it you can do whatever. Or you can use Crouton and just have a chroot to a full linux install (not as powerful). I wouldn't use it for gaming but I use it for all my other school stuff, really great battery and lightweight. I'm a CS major so my course stuff is generally just in a text editor or browser. Sometimes I use google docs but it's fairly laggy IMO

Those of you who are a little older remember the times when Microsoft hated Linux and refused to even use the name "Linux" on their website?
A friend of mine works at Microsoft and he told me this integration will go much farther than we imagine ,in fact, Microsoft is internally testing their own distribution of Linux
Can you imagine if Microsoft Corp develops their GUI around the Linux Kernel ? it will be the end of Canonical , Red Hat ...
That's why they said Windows 10 "is the last windows"
You read it on /g/ first
How the times are changing.

Google made a fork Ubuntu too. Nothing happened, but if MS want to try destroy Linux they have to further even if GPL makes it next to impossible.
How to make a desktop game like Runescape classic?
Refer to the image. That's exactly what I want to create from scratch. For fun!
I know a bit of c++. Read several of Stroustrups' books.
Now learn OpenGL, it's not that hard.
And don't bother with Vulkan unless you really care about performance.
>>57730105
Doing it with C++ is masochism.
1. Learn C#.
2. DL Lynda Unity tutorials.

posting my desk top
Why aren't you allowed desktop threads? Wtf.
I don't post in them, but they weren't hurting anything.
Stop using nonfree software.

>Practice high speed flying and manual mode acrobatics inside warehouse for weeks
>Go out to the street at dusk... Headless mode: ON, Altitude hold: ON, 30% beginner thrust: Check
>Push the auto-takeoff button and hover at knee-height
>A weak breeze starts blowing, drone starts gaining height all by itself...
>Throttle all the way down and remains very slowly rising, push auto-landing but no effect either.
>When it reaches above rooftop level, picks up even stronger breeze and rises even faster heading NW with the high wind
>Loses camera and controller signal and instead of landing I still see for a minute or two its tiny lights in the sky with my money going up and away with the high winds.
>Fuck drones. I'll never use them for anything serious... and if I ever buy one it'll be just cheap ones for playing.

Hahaha what fucking drone did you buy in this totally non make believe story so i can avoid it if i ever have enough disposable income to burn on a drone.

Fuck off with your creepertech/1984 inspired shit
is lenovo still letting the chink govt spy on me or is it safe to buy one of their laptops?
Superfish isn't there any more, but they still bundle in a bunch of malware.
Do you not know that you're supposed to do a fresh install to every device you get?
Fresh install your OS and it's as secure as any other device (IE, NSA and chink backdoors out the ass)
>>57729875
from what I had read, even fresh installs would put the malware back in somehow, and that's how lenovo originally got caught.
desu though, I have never owned a laptop, just built my own PCs so I haven't had to deal with that.
>>57729916
Fresh installs from their recovery disks, yes.
I mean a fresh install from a regular windows disk.

What's the best VM to run Linux on a Windows host?
Is VirtualBox any good?
>>57729817
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Embrace, extend, extinguish.
This is a good motherboard, right?
I have an i7 6700k and 1070 GTX. I just want to make sure they'll be in good hands.
Read reviews, make your own decision. /g/ is too bias.
if it says asus on it it is good
I have the Z170-A running an i7 6700k and haven't got any problems with it. Its a good mid/high tier motherboard.
I have a gaming desktop that I love, but I will be getting a new laptop for grad school next year, if the surface book 2 actually has something like a 1060M or a 1050M, will it be a good purchase for school first, then casual gaming (like dota, skyrim, etc...) 2nd???
I will play graphically intensive games on my 980ti/X34 rig, but I like casual gaming in bed.
>>57729621
I was considering getting the new one with performance base to replace my laptop and Ipad I use for school.
I read mixed reviews on it. The current model is a good laptop for casual gaming and it has a pretty good battery life. It's on par with a MacBook as work laptop. The unique thing about it is part of the battery is stored in the tablet part while the rest of the battery and the dGPU is stored in the keyboard. However, it looked like its mediocre as a tablet as the screen only has about a two hour battery life and it's too big. Some people had issues, but it looks like the warranty will cover it. Pretty much, its a good laptop, but not that great of a tablet.
I ended up getting a surface pro 4 since I didn't want to spend $2,800 on a laptop that wouldn't replace my ipad and is barely better spec wise than one I bought for not even half the price. It would also be a downgrade on screen size for me.
If you really don't find much utility in a tablet for school then the surface book would probably be a good choice, especially if they upgrade the next model in any significant way. Going off current pricing, you'll pay at least $2,500 for the newest base model.
>>57729621
>1060M
A laptop with a 1060 costs at least 700$.
You think the Surface will have one?
>>57730680
>I didn't want to spend $2,800 on a laptop (...)
hold the fuck up the surface book 2 costs 2.8k?
what the fuck. that's apple levels of overpriced. is this in any way justified? i dont care for a fucking aluminium body if it translates into a 1000 bucks premium
