I have an R9 390X and an fx8320 processor.
I play at 1440p and get around 30-40fps
I assume it's not the GPU. It;s the CPU causing low FPS, right?
I just wanted to know so I could upgrade in the cyber-monday sales
>>57726976
Its both you fuck.
>1440p with a single 390x
My 980 tie only manages around 60-90 fps at 1440 on ultra with newer aaa titles.
Get another 390x or wait for the 490x
>>57727127
thanks. your posted helped me figure absolutely nothing
>>57727127
you realize the R9 390x is comparable with the 980 you sperg

I want to get a raspberry-like box (odroid) but some programs don't have binaries there.
Can I compile them myself with no worries or is most software architecture dependent? How can I now which ones can I compile in ARM?
sudo update-alternatives /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-arm-none-eabi 50
>>57726923
*know
>>57726923
you mean cross-compiling from a more powerful PC?
depends on your distro, I guess you could always try compiling binutils, gcc and glibc while targeting arm or something
What's your average wpm?
What Keyboard do you use?

Does your wpm play impact on your work efficiency?

I only have my laptop right now
>What's your average wpm?
~80WPM
>What Keyboard do you use?
Poker II with PBT Granites
>What switches?
Brown keys, clear spacebar
>Does your wpm play impact on your work efficiency?
Fast typing means I can get through essays quickly and get ideas out of my head and onto the screen before they disappear so that's nice. Being able to type without thinking is nice when writing as well because it frees up room in my brain to actually think rather than looking for keys.
What headset do you guys recommend? I'm looking for something comfy with good sound quality.

Hello /g/
Could you help me understand how the lifetime expectancy of a SSD works? I have a Samsung 850 Evo which is supposedly rated at 150TB but I am confused as to what that means.
I've read around already but I see people even saying they have been consistently writing to a 850EVO and it has not failed after 10 petabytes and they have an endurance of 8 years if writing 1 TB a day.
It would be great if you could help clarify as I am very confused with what I should expect my SSD to last.
>>57726852
>lifetime expectancy of a SSD works
Tend to be rated very conservatively, many less than expected flash cell P/E cycle rating, which in turn may be less than the total number P/E cycles it can endure.
Obviously, larger driver have more cells to have written and rewritten to.
This could be a hedge against environmental conditions that affect longevity and write amplification nonsense that can happen, but it is extreme.
>>57726852
It means you can put 150TB of your gay porn on there before it dies of an overdose of faggotry.
>>57726917
Okay so what you are saying is that it does not really depend on how much you write to it but how often you keep writing in to a cell occupying the data?
>>57726937
I bet your family is very disappointed in you and that makes me sad.
Okay so
I asked around for opinions for a good replacement for my triple monitor set up (60hz each, 5760x1080, 5ms) and got no responses or what was recommended ended up being a shit 24 inch 1920x1080 monitor.
I came across this thing:
LG 34UC98
Problem is, it's FreeSync and I use an Nvidia card and not AMD. So with this monitor I'd get ~60hz, 3440 x 1440 21:9, 5ms response time, and not to mention it's curved screen and 34 inches which is just something I prefer.
Yes? No? Suggestions?
I got the Philips 40", 4065 or whatever, I think it's better
>>57726846
Sir, you bought a fuckin' TV with terrible refresh rates and resolution, not a gaming monitor.
I just checked anyways, Philips doesn't sell any monitors over 34 inches.

My iPad replaced my PC.
I officially sold my PC 2 years ago & never looked back!
The iPad Pro is even nicer.. oh my gosh.
I don't even own the keyboard or pencil, the software is amazing. The on screen keyboard is so responsive. Haven't found anything I can't do.
Posting this from said iPad currently.
My uses were mainly social media & games. YouTube Netflix etc. I'm a basic user, not in college anymore. Just working full time. Job doesn't require intensive programs.
So tell me, why hasn't an iPad (or tablet) replaced your PC?
It has.
Posted from my iPad.

looking into continuing my education and studying computer networking, getting me an associate's in computer network support.
one of the most used OSes are Linux and Solaris, according to an infograph provided by my college - if this is true, does anyone have any good resources or tips for learning more about Solaris and my major in general?
thx in advance
>>57726530
List of OSes you should be looking at
1- Windows, love it or hate it MS dominates
2- OS X, Apple have a chunk of the market
3 - Linux (Specifically CentOS, Redhat, Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian). You might see others, but linux is largely linux sans distro quirks.
Solaris doesn't really rate on the scale, I don't know a single instance (in the enterprises and orgs I've worked with) that use Solaris in ANY capacity.
>>57727007
what in specific should I be looking at within each of these operating systems?

How about Illumos(SmartOS/OpenIndiana/OpenSXCE etc.)?
