I remember back in 2007~2008 that RSS was starting to become "mainstream", it was the most efficient way to keep track of multilpe blogs and websites.

Then google decided to kill Google Reader out of nowhere, combined with that, they also killed the Google Blog Search, which was a powerful tool to find underground blogs.

Majority of the browsers had a built-in RSS buttons to quickly save a website in your favorite RSS reader, they are gone now (unless you download an addon).

We went from:
>Sources coming directly to people through RSS
to
>People getting their sources from facebook

People rarely visit multiple websites now, they will resort to a very small pool of social medias services like Facebook and twitter and they just read what is shared there, but they won't be following the actual sources on a daily basis.

They made people dependent on social media, which is pretty good if you want to control the masses.

What are your thoughts?

Killed because it was harder for sites to deliver ads and monetise their site.
>>
rss despite all you valley wiggers and your memes is not dead and it will never die. LONG LIVE RSS

I was going to reply with somwthing along the lines of
>RSS never died
but you made a convinving post. A rarity on /g/. I think the truth is somewhere around what you and >>57727863 said.

On the other hand, most sites still worth keeping up with still have RSS or Atom feeds, even if you might have to do a little work to find them. Social media hasn't quite become mandatory yet, thankfully.

I have $1700 credit with Dell. I want a gaming pc. I know you guys hate pre-made pcs and probably Alienware even more so. All that aside, I'd like to use that credit. Screenshot is what I'm thinking. Is the 6700k and a water cooler worth the extra 250? Would the Hyper X 2400 r be worth an extra 100 in a pc like this? The xps signature line seems pretty decent as well. About the same price after the sale. Thanks ahead of time.

Pic related is 1750. I should note that I'd like something that's future proof within reason for the next 4 years. I'll get a good 4k monitor soon.

its a great pc, can probably run everything very smoothly, i estimate cost $1500

$2050. Overpriced I know, but I'm only paying 350 for it.

Ok /g/ I am am tired of trying describe people at best buy and walmart if the kind of phone charger I want, and if it even exists, with no luck. It is a fusion of the cords in pic.

Im wanting a fast charger for my Galaxy S5, like the white cord, that has a bent shape, similar to the black cord.

I'm wondering because I keep fucking up my cords when I rest my phone on my stomach, using it while it charges. Wires are popping out and breaking and I have to buy a new cord before long. Having a charger like this would save me from having to buy a new one so often. Are there any out there?

Not gunna happen. Pretty much nobody uses/used the usb3 micro-b plug (which is what this is), so there isn't a large enough market for such a niche.

Do DACs actually work or they're just a forced meme?

Music sounds the same to me.

they work for their intended purpose: to replace the one on your mobo

its only good if you have a shit one that doesnt stop electrical noise or whatever its called (static/noise in your headphones when plugged in and not listening to anything)
>>

Doesn't matter if this is for a personal project/fun/school/work

How long until RAM Disks become economically viable?

At the moment you can get 128gb DDR4 RAM for a few hundred dollars or 64gb DDR3 for under $200

Out of this you could easily make a 50gb drive for a program you wanted to run very well, something like 20x-30x faster than an SSD

It seems to me that I could be looking at a PC in 2 years with a large hard drive for storage and a small RAM Disk for current programs.
