Are mechanical keyboards just a memay, /g/?
I'm using a fairly old membrane Logitech keyboard. I can type really fast and stay accurate, it's good for gayming as well. What would I gain after switching to mechanical keyboard besides gay RGB lightning?
Clicky/lots of tactile feedback when you type
Lots of switch options
Looks cool
Last long time
Can swap out the keys to anything you like
Mine has a simple white backlight, I just like my red switches m8. Magicforce 68 master race!
>>58044319
Its a pure meme. A friend of mine upgraded from his membrane old logitech($20) to a new RGB mechanical keyboard $100.
Other than the "kewl" RGB lighting effects and some functionality like macro/etc, its the same shit.
Oh right, its noisy.
>>58044319
Memers will tell you it's worth it and that you have no idea what you're missing until you try one.
I spent a good amount of money on a mechanical a few years ago and my experience for gaming was the same, and I actually prefer membrane for typing.
They do look a lot cooler though
i want to get into pentesting/network security, what certifications should I start with from someone that has little to no knowledge in the area
and any good online resources for learning about it?

Does /g/ have any interesting project ideas to keep me busy for a few months?
1: Make a Picasa replica. Or improve Darktable as it already follows the way.
2: Port Shotcut to Windows.
3: Write a proper FES (Finite Element's Simulation) software.
Or you might as well hang on a rope.

Daily Botnet Thread #002
Since most threads end up talking about this, here is a daily thread to cover muh privacy and teh botnet.
Is this the daily cocaine trafficking thread?
>>58043920
Close, but we can talk about coke too, I guess.
Is there a good torrent site? All the mainstream ones are bloated with ads and trackers.
How do you get rid of spotify's ads?
>>58043887
buy a subscription
>>58043902
besides that
>>58044033
Nothing. Buying a subscription is enough to get rid of ads.
About to build my first PC. Should I use an anti-static wrist strap just to be safe?
>>58043749
Use two just to be extra-sure.
>>58043749
Not necessary unless you're part of the 0,01% of the persons that generate a large amount of static.
Just touch the ground before assembling the components
>>58043749
Using one is without question safer, most of the time your ESD will not cause any damage to your components, but it can happen.
Not using one also makes your parts less durable because you might cause slight damage that isn't noticeable right away, but might shorten the lifespan.
I'm looking into installing Linux for my new computer, so I'm wondering what is the easiest one for beginners and is also very minimalist in design

Old thread >>58034017
Is it necessary to use an ESD wrist strap when working on the insides of a laptop?
How come so many games just have a person making cat sounds when they need a voice clip for a cat? Is it that hard to find a real cat? It's so obvious that it's just a person making cat sounds and it always breaks my immersion.
What is a good font with status symbols/gliphs?
Like music, processor, ram, clock symbols, etc.
So I recently realized that I needed to convert from my mini display port to hdmi. Does anyone know a good adapter that they use for this? And also just to clarify the displayport connects directly to you're graphics card? It's for my htc vive .
