Russia Hacked The US to influence its election.
why cant government workers, institutes, and politicians use secure technology? why isnt there a standard to combat this?
i understand theres day zero attacks and all. but cmon
Anything government should use Qubes OS as a standard. Qubes OS as its Server os or simply create a custom OS
Create Secure Proprietary Hardware and programs not accessible to the public.
DO not make major changes to these OS's or programs only security patches
this will lessen the chance of introducing a security flaw because windows wanted to add *insert stupid feature no one fucking uses* which turns out opens up security holes
has no one done this or wtf
Trump won
Get over it

>why cant government workers, institutes, and politicians use secure technology?
But OP
Only terrorists use encryption.
God Emperor Trump is going to ban encryption so we can spy on Chinese men and mooslem terrorists.

Hey /g/, wondering what the viability was of buying a used virtualization server such as a Dell PowerEdge R710, and linking it with an external graphics processing unit such as a Nvidia Quadro Plex 2200 S4 (4 FX5800 cards).
The total cost for this would be around $600, which is much cheaper than any comparable pc build i've been able to come up with.
I dont have a lot of experience with servers, so pardon me if the idea using these servers as a desktop, especially for gaming, is too poorfag.
>>58049126
Nearly impossible i'm afraid those are direct x 10 ards and I doubt that you'd be able to just passthrough that Quadro Plex station without an issue to the VM.
>>58049126
Hyper-V on 2012 R2 or 2016 would be ideal. RemoteFX works alright now if you know what you're doing.
Virtualization overhead isn't really a big deal anymore on modernish hardware. Just don't use SR-IOV for the NIC and you will be fine for most games that aren't cutting edge.
>>58049126
>which is much cheaper than any comparable pc build i've been able to come up with.
Lol, no. Westmere (if you are smart enough to buy a 710 with Westmere processors) processors that you can't even overclock will not be good for playing games, never mind the ancient FX5800s. Using a rackmount machine for a desktop is also the height of stupidity.

Why are they so dangerous? Couldn't you write a simple client side java string that would just return an error if certain characters were entered? How could you bypass code like this?
>>58049059
>Why are they so dangerous?
Because they expose your database.
>Couldn't you write a simple client side java string that would just return an error if certain characters were entered?
1) You still need server side sanitation, because people can write their own malicious clients
2) Banning characters is a bad idea, do you really want to prevent certain characters used in stuff like password? Imagine if 4chan banned the character ', then how would I write isn't, don't etc?
>How could you bypass code like this?
Write my own client to send a string to the server.
The proper approach here is to use prepared statements in addition to whatever sanitation method you use.
>>58049105
Write your own client? Do you mean something that would bypass the java thats checking the string?
>>58049059
> client side
you can't trust the client

You don't even need all the screws, m8.
What are some common programming practices that you find stupid?
>separation of transformation, view, and projection matrices in graphics programming
>making the second most calculation intensive part of the graphics program do numerous unnecessary multiplications, not to mention passing three times as much matrix data through the CPU-GPU bottleneck

I think anyone on /g/ is naive if they think a certain practice is stupid when most posters are kids here and will have hardened professionals make you sound like a retard.
Also some here haven't worked in a professional environment where sometimes shit just needs to get done QUICK.

MIUI does seem neat, and it's got more stuff, like slowmo in the camera
also camera performance is supposedly worse CM

You can also add audio to pictures. Don't know if other Android versions have that.
Hey /g/,
So I've been looking for a good C++ book for beginners, I do game programming as a hobby and since Unity shit the bed and GML is a crock of shit I decided it was time to learn the language literally every single other engine use: C++.
I got recommended "Jumping into C++" but the only version was released in 2013 and several comments suggest that it's already very outdated.
The two other promising (and modern) books I found were:
C++: The Ultimate Beginners Guide to C++ Programing
https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Beginners-Guide-Programing/dp/1540742121/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1482007375&sr=1-1&keywords=c%2B%2B&refinements=p_72%3A1250221011
and
C++: Beginner to Pro Guide (C++ Programming 2016)
https://www.amazon.com/Beginner-Pro-Guide-Programming-2016/dp/1540505588/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1482007375&sr=1-4&keywords=c%2B%2B&refinements=p_72%3A1250221011
Either of these look good, or are there any /g/entlemen here with a better recommendation?
Just to give you an idea of where I'm at, I would say early/mid-beginner. Took a Java100 uni course that also covered basic CS principles, messed around in Python, C#, and GML(lol) for a year or two. Most of these books seem to be designed with "complete beginners" in mind but reviewing the basics or burning through a few easy chapters before getting into the meat of it isn't a problem.

Keep program settings in a single location, as well as OS settings.
This also means that it's a single point of failure.
to fuck your mom obviously
This is fucking bullshit.
A fully loaded Macbook Pro can't cost this much. This is fucking insane. I will acknowledge that Macbook Pros has always been priced somewhat pricey, but this is fucking insane on so many levels.

Does anyone else think the new Google Keyboard (now called Gboard) made the keyboard shit? All I wanted was an aesthetic minimalist yet functional and lightweight keyboard and now they ruin it with useless gimmicks.
>>58048436
I wish Gboard and Google Keyboard were separate things. Gboard sucks but Google Keyboard was the best keyboard I'd ever used before they fucked it up.
I'm never going to need Gboard to do any of the things it does as "features" under any circumstances. It's stupid.
