What's going to happen if I launch with no capctha and no post timer?

I currently have a site with a 5 minute post timer and it works well, but more people will use this.

I want to add a captcha but it would ruin the design.

So, do you own an UPS to protect your home server and desktop computers, anon?
If not - why? What's your excuse?

I have solar panels and a house-wide electricity backup.

UPS is for Pajeets.
>>
Everyone should have one. I live in an old house with power that tends to fry electronics. My spending on replacement equipment has gone way down since buying a UPS.
Just make sure you get one that's compatible compatible with active PFC.

Nvidia fuck you and your neural meme networks
Literally all that machine learning don't work. I have experience, i am using linux for 3 years as main system.
But installing:
>cuda toolkit
is hard and often fucks up, even on ubuntu
>cunn + torch
Cuda neutral networks i tried 4 fucking times, even bother to install it clean fedora, not a single chance.
>nvidia-docker
docker is kinda broken, but this fucking thing is just unbelievable it is beyond mess.
I just lost about 20 hours. Only to be able to run deepdream on nvidia-docker, neural-style don't work.

Good luck with those self driving cars

I already run the edgy minimal setups on my other pc's...I'm trying to decide on a more normie setup for my daily tasks. Right now I'm on Debian stable with Gnome shell and its very lame. I'll probably at least switch to Debian testing and xfce but I wanna know what "just werks" setup /g/ recommends?

Linux mint MATE.

Linux mint Cinnamon if you want something more refined.
>>
>>58046858
Mint is too lax on security. I don't really care how hard the OS install is...I'm more concerned with a DE i guess...I've been using wm's so long I don't know what to pick. Why do you like MATE over xfce?
>>
>>58046482
>Gnome Shell
Korora. It's basically the Linux Mint of Fedora. It's plain Fedora with the shit you need to do to have an everyday user distro already done for you. Alternatively, you could just install Fedora and run Fedy which is a quick setup tool that does the same kind of thing Korora does.

I'd recommend Fedora 24 since Fedora 25 ships with GNOME 3.22 so this means half of your extensions won't be working anymore and Wayland has some little issues. Though you can select not to use Wayland before logging in.

Is web becoming the shittiest field of programming in the coming years?

I'm about to start my MS in CS and am already earning okay on the side (38k/yr) working as part-time frontend dev, but...

I've seen a couple threads on here and Stackoverflow talk about how frontend has peaked, is about to get automated and you can't really get further in your career after 5-10 years.

So what the fuck do I do - I love my job and setting up sites & web apps, but I want a serious career.
What fields are similar, that I can move into?

look at those nu-male
>>
Just look at all the shit coming around with javascript and all the JS spin-offs.

It is amazing people has spent so much time building nice stuff based on it. It grows like a monster. It is not becoming the shittiest, it already is. The web is a paradise of click-baits, and ads where every company want to put their piece of work to annoy the user. You will have a career do not worry.

Can someone explain to me which one to use and why?
int *ptr;
int* ptr;
97 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>58046276
There's no difference. It's just convention.

I prefer int* ptr, cause it bugs me that *ptr dereferences in one context, but int *ptr means a pointer to an int.
>>
int * ptr;
>>
>>58046303
Wrong brainlet. It means exactly the same in assignment statements. * means "contents of" & means "address of"

int y = 4;

int * ptr x = &y:
"The contents of integer x equals the address of y"

int z = *x + 1
"integer z equals the contents of x plus 1"

Is it worth trying to get gold off circuit boards of old computers and hard drives?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>58046249
In general not really, unless you have industrial supplies & huge amount of electronics
>>
>>58046249
There was a long ass video on Codyslab that showed the whole processes.
Doing it at home will cost more than the value of the gold recovered, to do it in any large scale might send the EPA knocking at your door, and sourcing large piles of computer parts is extremely difficult when theres already a huge industrial complex based around doing exactly what you want to do at home.

Is it profitable? No
Is it a fun small project to do in your garage? Yes
>>
>>58046249

its not worth it OP.
