Because hardware is so much faster now than it was 20 or 30 years ago, what is the fucking purpose of using low level languages like C or C++?
Why doesn't everyone just use Java or C# for everything now?

>Because hardware is so much faster now than it was 20 or 30 years ago, what is the fucking purpose of using low level languages like C or C++?
Doing more work with that faster hardware instead of doing the same work that we used to do with less?
>>58038960
>planning to use Java on long term projects since Oracle bought it
shiggydiggy
It's pretty much ded.
>>58038960
Because using software written in these languages brings performance levels 30 years back(except the explicitly optimized cases like numerics in Java - try doing it with objects and it becomes like ten times worse).
Why should I use Latex over anything else?
You can notate math pretty easily and make functions. It really depends what youre using it for.
>>58038947
If you don't know of anything to use it for, you shouldn't.
>>58038947
You can actually open a new file and not have to edit anything besides what you're writing
you can control your editing environment much easier, since it's a fucking text editor
have two usb sticks (same size). stick1 has a bootable ubuntu on it. stick2 is wiped.
stick1 boots fine.
> dd if=/dev/stick1 of=/foo.dat
> dd if=/foo.dat of=/dev/stick2
try to boot from stick2... grub says kernel is missing
any idea why this happens? i thought dd would make a bit by bit identical copy
Try
> dd if=/dev/stick1 of=/dev/stick2
and see if it does the same thing
if you have ubuntu just use the graphical usb format program, so much better and safer than using dd
>>58038945
I have exactly the same USB stick. Its so cute.
I'm missing a lot of options from system settings in KDE and when I try to run advanced settings power management from whatever the Alt + Space search bar iit says
>Power Management configuration module could not be loaded. The Power Management Service appears not to be running. This can be solved by starting or scheduling it inside "Startup and Shutdown"
HOWEVER THE BIG FUCKING PROBLEM is that I can't find any startup and shutdown area in the system settings menu. What do? Pls help, it's weird that I'm missing a lot of configuration options in plasma KDE for seemingly no raisin.
You probably missed some dependencies you fat fuck.
macOS doesn't have those problems

Read the sticky:
>/g/ is NOT your personal tech support team or personal consumer review site.
Why don't mods ban /csg/ when the op keeps making multiple threads or starting a new one at least 10 before the bump limit?
Move it to >>>/trash/ at least for being off topic. Half of it is /fa/ and /lgbt/.
>>58038753
bump limit on most other boards is 300, i have no clue why /g/'s is 310
>>58038753
Belongs in the trash 2bh
Is OLED a meme or the future?
Is OP a meme or a faggot?
The future for TVs, a meme for anything that displays static elements for extended periods of time.

Let's go. /mu/ doesn't know its arse from its elbow as far as music tech is concerned.

There was a formula stating this but i don't know what it was or how it was

So /g/ can you tell me about Discord.
Is it safe to use?
Is it anonymous so don't have to worry about any crazies tracking you down?
Bump, hopefully it comes to linux soon.
They recently started using canvas fingerprinting, take that as you like.
>>58038729
Um, it is. Get discord-canary.
thoughts on github?
Too complicated to use so I just host everything on dropbox
Great place to find reference code while learning.

Looking to replace my Honor 5X, and considering the Galaxy Note 4, which I can get for $289AUD ($210 USD). Should I do it /g/? My experience with the Honor 5X has kind of put me off chinkphones, so inb4 "just buy xiaomeme"
>>58038507
Yes. Removable battery, SD card, IR transmitter, etc.
You could do a lot worse.
I've hag my note 4 for three years with zero problems. Root it and enjoy.
Help me tech support you're my only hope
tldr water pump died so I'm putting a CM hypercool 212 back on my CPU until I can be bothered getting some more shit but she's fucked
I'm trying to install these risers but they're not fitting through the stock holes, there's a backplate thing sorta on there already and that's what it's not going through they're a tad too small, I'm almost certain this backplate part is not supposed to be removed and your cooler backplate just goes over it, as you can see in this image the holes look clear and probably would take the risers just fine if the backplate bit wasn't on there
My waterblock didn't have a backplate and just screwed into the holes there
>>58038407
You're a fucking idiot OP, but I'll help you.
First I need you to install gentoo. This will help optimize your cooling orientor.
>>58038450
Thanks bro I actually just realized it was my watercooler backplate
Usin watercooling on cheap shit like this... I never understood people who spend more on their cooling than on their CPU + mobo.
