I'm getting ready to cut for the first time, but I dont want to cut to much since I know your body can go into starvation and I want to minimize muscle loss. I know the amount of muscle you have also factors into how much calories you need. Like 50 calories per pound of muscle. But all the sites i've used vary alot on how much I should eat. anyone know what to use?

Read the sticky, calculate your tdee, eat 500 under it. Eat 1g of protein per pound of body weight. If you have fat to lose it needs to come off, THEN worry about the muscle. Or follow the advice of someone who has a similar body type.

Hello /fit/izens, it's been a while. I am a fallen and broken man. I don't know if I'm going to make it.

Training had always been a core value and constant in my life, something that took priority over sleep, socialization, and shitposting. Little gaps in my day were training opportunities: if I walked through a doorway, it was time for some pullups, and if I had to sit in a chair, I instead sat an inch above it. I paid for martial arts and weight lifting gym memberships when I could afford them, else I trained outside on my own and taught grappling to anyone who was interested.

Between sicknesses, injuries, and lifestyle changes (switching professions and locations, being homeless for a while, etc.), I haven't been myself for at least a couple of years. I have no drive to do anything anymore, and I'm ready to just lay down and die. This isn't who I want to be, but it's who I've become: everything I once despised and pitied.

/fit/, please help me back onto the bandwagon. My mind and body are falling apart, and there isn't much left.

That's been my approach for the past year or so, I've been making it out so SCA stick fighting practices roughly once a week and doing some pushups whenever I can muster the drive. My joints and mobility are pretty fucked from working construction these last couple years, doing shit like jackhammering 70 hours per week, so that's been a bit of a demotivational limitation: last two times I've tried to get /fit/ again with gusto, I hurt myself. Last time felt like tendinitis in my shoulders, the time before that was 4 days in the hospital with rhabdo.

It's your individual decision to be fit. If that works for you, great, but a lifestyle of strict dieting and exercise isn't for everyone.

Why do you guys care if people don't obsess over their weight?

What are your thoughts on eating below your BMR?

My BMR is around 2000 and my TDEE is around 2400. For the past 4 years (on and off), I've been eating about 1500 calories a day with a 3000-5000 calorie cheat day. I've gone from 260 to 196 by just dieting with no exercise and would probably weigh even less had I not lost motivation and fallen off the wagon so many times the past 2 years.

The confusing thing is that I've read it's safe as long as you're eating 1500 calories a day if you're male, but my BMR is higher than this and I've read conflicting ideas that you should never eat below your BMR. I've basically been eating 500 calories below my BMR.

I've done lots of research on this and gotten mixed answers.
Have you eaten below your BMR for long periods of time? What were your experiences?

I think your friends are wrong, but maybe get a body fat test if you care? If it's in the double digits you're probably not under fat.

It is way harder to lose fat than gain it. In fact you will probably need to diet for 4-5 days to make up for today.

Today the gym was full so i did my shoulder routine before my chest which i usually do first. I could lift significantly more with my shoulders and I could do less reps with chest later.
