At my noob level doing Push-ups and pull-ups has helped me look better. I'm thinking. One program has you increasing how many push-ups you do a day by 50 each week which seems good.
Seriously. When I used to do 10 reps and now I do 30 when I do one of those random sets. Went from 1 to 10 for pull-ups too. I don't look much bigger though.

I started lifting when I was 14 and now im a college student that came home for the summer. It almost makes me feel disgusted to come home and see the amount of my peers that have gotten incredibly fat, binge drink every weekend and eat like gluttonous pigs while I continue to improve my quality of life.

I do 5 sets, usually of 12
3 sets is a meme. You need to look at total weekly volume and intensity. Search on YouTube Juggernaut training chest volume for a video for chest. They have one for back too, I'm waiting on the one for legs and I'll make my own Frankenstein routine.
