I don't get it? When people get to the point where they are billionaires or even making like 50k a month why do they keep working and stressing about work? I realize circumstances are different for different people but I'm just talking about the people who clearly don't need to work anymore and can still buy anything they want. Why do they keep working instead of just traveling and enjoying their life at that point?

What are some useful things you can get certified in online in order to boost your resume?

I've seen a few useless ones like gem identifier.

if you work in industry or use chemicals at all then an OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour is pretty dang useful to your employer.

Getting your CDL is pretty easy. Pretty much any transport job is comfy. My first job was a box truck driver. Got to drive around all day, listen to music, sit on my phone while truck was being unloaded, etc. I then got my CDL and got into OTR. Wasn't for me so I quit and got a job as a yard jockey making $17/hour to move trailers around the lot when needed but otherwise fucked off. Take home almost $3K a month with overtime. I'm a high school dropout btw so this is dreamland for me.

The Comp TIA exams, MSCEs, and similar certifications are stupidly easy and are pretty versatile. I got the A+ cert after studying for one day - not exaggerating. With that said, the harder, the better - the A+ is a joke, the MSCE/Cisco certs are better,

There are a lot of Coursera courses and their ilk, should you want to go that direction. I don't find them very impressive.

Personal trainer certifications are also decent - I have the CSCS, but it expired on me because I refused to do continuing education credits. There are some that don't require CE, I think.

As another anon mentioned here, >>1503299, getting a CDL isn't a bad idea if you find yourself down for manual labor.

Stuff like the CISSP/PMP are well-respected in business, but if I recall they have some irritating pre-requisites.

Six Sigma isn't as well respected as it once was, and it's a stupid mire of expensive programs, but it's still maybe worth doing. Ditto with Lean/Agile/Scrum/whatever the fuck.

Bartender certs are a bit of a joke, don't bother.

I looked into massage therapy to impress girls, don't bother.

Am I not saving enough? I'm 29.

Average monthly take home income is $3,600.

I sort of loosely kept track of my spending and it came to about this.

~$500 Savings - Vanguard Retirement Mutual Fund

~$1,000 Housing - Includes mortgage principle and interest, house insurance, taxes, and utilities.
~$250 House Savings - Second savings account I allocate money towards for home repairs, upgrades, etc.
~$25 House Upkeep - Gas for lawn mower and weed eater, grass fertilizer, insect killer, etc.

~$400 Truck - Includes insurance, gas, detailing, and oil changes.

~$250 Groceries - Includes food as well as household items like toilet paper, cleaners, shampoo, body wash, etc.

~$100 Cell Phone - Sprint Unlimited Data
~$100 Internet - Xfinity Internet 150 Mbps
~$10 Netflix
~$10 Spotify
~$105 TV - DirecTV Choice Package
~$20 XM Radio

~$500 Fishing - Insurance on boat, boat slip at marina, gas for boat, bait, new tackle, etc.

Leaves me with about $340-350 a month in spending cash, which I usually spend on new electronics and eating out. I purchased my house for $173K. I put $75K down at 3.6%. My truck and boat are paid off. I only have ~$40K in my mutual fund, but I have no debt besides my mortgage. Am I doing okay? All I really do is work and fish. No girlfriend/wife. No pets. Hardly talk to family. No friends.

>Am I doing okay?
probably. Keep up on your retirement and try not to cash out your house.

you're doing better than probably about 90% of people your age. If you really want to turn up the heat keep an eye out for opportunities to become self-employed in your field or seek promotion in your career. That's where the adults actually make their retirement. Moving up in management or striking out as a consultant or contractor. Obviously one of these is riskier than the other.

If I was you I might consider getting my captains license and some liability insurance and taking people fishing for moneys.

Didn't read this all but nice!

I'm 20 with just over $20k invested
>>
It's your decision really. I think it depends on some other factors such as what you do for a living, ie hard manual labor, you want to start saving more just because your body will start to decline, but if you have a cushy office job then that should be fine.

But looking at your expenses, the only thing I could really point out that I would say you should cut is your tv package. With netflix, plus like hulu and amazon if you have those, I don't think you would need to spend $100 on that a month. think, that's an extra 100 in your retirement every month. I could also suggest trimming down your spending budget by like 75-100 dollars, but that's probably a little too nitpicky.

I just noticed that I implicitly view Mastercard as inferior to Visa.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Is it because their logo sucks?

I view them as all the same. Maybe 15-20 years ago one was better than the other. Now virtually every store accepts both.

Guys, please help me here. How do I start changing my mindset to think more about money?

I'm kind of a nice guy on the block, whom each time when I do stuff, I do it for free because of my "belief" that the more I give, the more I get mindset. I think that's bullshit. I'm currently employed and this is the only income I earn. Right now, when I think again (and getting back to reality), money is important.

This is my issue, how do I switch this old mind of mine to a new one who can manipulate my living lifestyle and earn more?

>nice guy
No, you're not, you're a piece of shit, and let me tell you why. You do things for people only because of what you perceive is in it for YOU. That's the definition of selfishness.

Your problem isn't niceness, your problem is you're a spineless, gutless, piece of shit who somehow got it into your little, money-grubbing head that being everyone else's doormat would somehow benefit YOU.

You know why I'm being so hard on you? I am sick and tired of people using "niceness" as an excuse for other personal shortcomings. Niceness in of itself is a positive trait that people should strive to have. Passivity and a lack of assertiveness would be better descriptors for you.

One last side not about why I'm so butt-blasted by your post. You know "nice guys" that are now universally made fun of? Who act like treating women like basic human beings entitles them to sex? Well you're the same way, except instead of sex from women, it's social (ie. jobs, promotions) or financial (payment for services) gain.

It's called realizing without money you're basically going to be a pathetic loser when you grow old. Keep that in mind and you'll have motivation.

Hey fellow /biz/raelis. I'm a full-time college student (luckily) on a full-ride scholarship and I am currently going to be graduating with two majors. I hold two part-time jobs. I'm a remote web-dev and an on-campus computer technician. I'm at school from 8AM - 4PM, everyday, and work from 4PM - 8PM. The hours for my web-dev job are not consistent so often times I won't be completely done with work until 11PM-12AM.

I'm really tired, all of the time. At this point I'm just living in a perpetual state of tiredness. Don't get me wrong, my life is fine and I enjoy what I'm doing, I just wish I was able to feel more energized more of the time.

Any remedies for this? I usually receive, on average, 6-7 hours of sleep a night.

>>
Sleep more (8hr), eat better, attempt to workout, take stimulants (caffeine)
>>
>>1503097
I take a 200mg caffeine tablet on days that I'm feeling more fatigued than usual, but this really doesn't help too much. I'm a regular coffee drinker as well and maintain a very strict, healthy diet (6'2, 165lbs).
>>
There's doctors that save lives working longer hours than you, and people serving in the military that barely get 2 hours of sleep at a time. Yet here we have another college student going on the internet complaining about how tough life is. Man up or kill yourself. You don't even have it that hard. Nothing about your day involves any physical exertion. You're just a lazy fat fuck that browses cartoon porn all day and calls it a computer technician job.

So, what can we learn about viral marketing from all this?

>>
>>1503003
I saw a Youtube thumbnail of some faggot in a Guy Fawkes mask and closed the tab.
What were they marketing?
>>
>>1503010

The whole thing was advertising for a anti-abortion group/party/organisation. Guy reveals he's behind all the artwork and the website and how everyone is asleep to the real evil. Cut to graphic footage of abortions while dramatic music plays. Guy comes back on and explains that while people were looking for secret codes and symbols about the illuminati, babies were being aborted. The rest of the video goes on from there. Lots of shouting and screaming/

Basic message sort of like Jonathan Swift's Modest Proposal. "You'd be horrified by all this satantic conspiracy child sacrifice if it was really happening, so why arent you horrified by abortion".

Possibly aimed at the wrong demographic, as conspiracy theorists tend to be somewhat extreme Christian types who are against abortion anyway?
